Summary: Our new Holiday favorite
Review: Move over Rudolph & Santa Clause is Coming to Town. We Love Nightmare Before Christmas. My son has been watching this since he was 2. Danny Elfman is brilliant once again. As a big Oingo Boingo follower I have come to appreciate his Scores as well. The characters are all loveable and it helped my son to not be afraid of "monsters". I definitely recommend this movie. Watch it from October 1st all the way to Christmas.

Summary: High marks for style, mediocre/average content (3.5 stars)
Review: Timothy Burton's film would be worth seeing for aesthetics alone. His beautifully nightmarish creatures really represent a paradigm-shift for both animated and childrens' movies. Rarely do we see some something that we really can't define. Is it animation? CGI? It so happens that I am a viewer not drawn to lavish, atmospheric effects: The Batman films and the Matrix do not speak to me. This movie however was a joy to look at.

But I feel it is the content which should ultimately determine a film's merit. This film holds up reasonably well here as well. Most importantly, it is appropriate for children-as long as they aren't too young-since there is little or no violence or foul language. The film's creativity and irreverent tone may also inspire children that one need not always fit the mold.

On the other hand, the film could ultimately have had a more positive message without sacrificing its early rebellious spirit. Sure, Jack seems to come around in the end, but for most of the movie he is totally self-absorbed and shows no capacity for love; it seems Sally should be the film's hero. And should the kidnapping of Santa, by the film's protagonist, be taken so lightly? Maybe I'm being a stick in the mud, but this is a children's film after all.

So in summary, the film deserves high marks for style and quirky details, but lower points for overall message.

Summary: Pure Genius. 10 stars!
Review: I remember wathching this movie when it came out in '93. I was only 4 then, and I remember loving it. Even now, I still watch it with my sisters. An original and new story and perspective of both halloween and Christmas is envisioned in this movie. I enjoyed how the two totally differnt holidays were fused together to make the movie. The animation is wonderful and detailed. The story is humorous as well structured. The songs and tunes are catchy. The characters are as unique and witty as the town of Halloween. I like how the characters were created to be well rounded and how the good characters can sometimes do wrong things. NBX is just pure gold!

Summary: A great family movie!
Review: The combination of Tim burton's unique vision and Danny Elfman's wonderful music and lyrics make this movie a lot of fun. The DVD version viewed in DTS surround sound is fantastic! My 4 yr. old son loves this movie, and I think that the decision to allow a young child to watch or not should be made on an individual basis. This is one of those films that you will want to pull down off the shelf every so often (at least every halloween)and enjoy.

Summary: The Best Movie I've Seen So Far!
Review: This is such a charming movie that it should have been rated G! The voice acting is done so well and the songs are very catchy!! I recommend this movie to eveyone especially children. Don't worry parents-this is nowhere near scary and it is in no way inappropriate for little ones. Children of all ages will love the bubbly characters and how they celebrate Halloween.

Summary: Kidnap the Santy Claws
Review: Simply the best animated movie ever... A must have and a must see. It is incredible on DVD. It was like the first time I saw it in the movie theater...

Summary: Delightfully Dark & Mirthfully Macabre
Review: Whether you are into Halloween, Christmas, or just good entertainment, this film is a must see. The story follows the exploits of Halloweentown's most prominant citizen, Jack Skellington, as he searches within and without to become self actualized. No longer satisfied with the pedestrian hoopla that surrounds his holiday, Jack sets out to conquor Christmas and finds that the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Plot aside, this film with its obvious nod to the German Expressionist movement, is a feast for the eyes. Its twisted perspective and dark, brooding sets appeal to my morose side, yet the overall atmosphere remains fun and humorous. The production values are a veritible tour de force of the stop-motion animator's art and Danny Elfman's soundtrack is nothing less than a modern masterpiece!

You don't have to be a lonely, disenfranchised, "goth" teenager to appreciate the look of this film --it has something for everyone. Some characters might be a tad too gruesome for impressionable little eyes, however. I'd save this treat for the post-diaper set.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is destined to become a holiday classic in the tradition of the Great Pumpkin or Rudolph.

Summary: Love this movie!
Review: I have been watching this movie since I was a young child, I dont remember much about early childhood except Bugs Bunny in "Roman Legion Hare" and the "Nightmare Before Christmas". This is the one of my favorite animated movies. I have watched this since I was about 5 and I didn't have nightmares. This is a great movie that should be watched by everyone
