Review: I bought this dvd for my three year old daughter, but her mother and I love it too. Like the greatest classic cartoons there is something here to amuse everyone, no matter their age or interests.

Summary: This is why this won Oscars!
Review: Just look at the effort put into this movie. It's not computer graphics, it's actually clay figures. The shoot the camera, pause it, move the clay figure a little bit, shoot the camera. It'll take forever and every episode made every deadline. Wallace and Gromit is funny, creative, original, and great for people of all ages. You can also make fun of how dumb the Englishman in the video is, although not nice, it ads a lot to the film.

Summary: Great fun for everyone
Review: How can you not love Wallace and Gromit? My 9-year old and I simply roar at the silly exploits of this very, very Englishman and his oh-so savvy dog-friend. (The dog being the obvious intellectual superior of the two.) This is the kind of "G" rated humor that's fun (and sophistocated enough) for all viewers. Next time you run out of ideas on what to buy that the whole family can enjoy (sans violence and profanity), pick up Wallace and Gromit. You can watch them again and again.

Summary: Cracking Animation!
Review: Wow. I must say that the animation in this collection isoutstanding. I am studying animation in school, and as a project we had to make a short claymation. It took me two days to make a 30 second animation, with not much detail. I think the most amaizing thing about this collection of animation is the extreem attention to details. There are books on the book shelf, the floor dips when the heavy "trousers" walks on them. The feeling reality portrayed through clay is absolutly amaizing.Not only does this collection exhibit wonderful animation technically, it also delivers humor that is hard to find in movies today. My parents and I watched this DVD, and they were impressed by the high level of humor. Often times the stuggle of animated features is the level of humor. It is very often geared towards Children. I would say this is enjoyable for all ages. The last thing that I really enjoyed was the behind the scenes clip. I think that hearing why things were done from the creator adds to the ammount of respect that I hold for Nick Park. Amaizing animation, humor, and attention to detail...

Summary: The perfect DVD for the whole family!
Review: There's a reason why Nick Park won Oscars for both THE WRONG TROUSERS and A CLOSE SHAVE. (His first Wallace & Gromit short, A GRAND DAY OUT, was also nominated but lost -- to another animated feature by Nick Parks!) The thrills and laughs are universal. Kids of all ages will naturally love them. But so will the adults! Like Bullwinkle & Rocky and Warner Bros. cartoons, there's a lot of humor aimed for the adults. No, nothing dirty -- geez, get your head out of the gutter -- but fun sly references to Alfred Hitchcock, Buster Keaton, David Lean, and James Cameron films, as well as poking fun at art history and science. Multiple viewings always reveal more of the incredible details found in these shorts. (I still laugh out loud at the painting Wallace has above his mantle where he hides his savings.) You'll also marvel at how they're made. Everyone knows that stop-motion requires you to make your characters move very slightly, then film it, then move it a little more and so on. After a while watching these shorts, you start to take it for granted. The behind-the-scenes feature on the DVD reveals some of the skill needed to create WALLACE & GROMIT shorts. But take heed -- your kids will also enjoy it and will probably implore you to buy them some clay and a video camera!

Summary: Outstanding animation, exquisitely captured on DVD
Review: If you've never seen these wonderful pieces of claymation art, you're in for a real treat! Funny, original, we've seen them at our house OVER and OVER on VHS format. We rented the DVD version today, and here we are on Amazon adding it to our shopping cart! The images are crisper than ever and the sound is excellent. Even though it's stereo / dolby stereo, it has a richer sound than many of the 5.1's we've been seeing lately! As an added bonus, the special features are priceless, some of Nick Parks earlier (WAYYY EARLIER..) experiments with animation are included, as well as a sampler of how-to on "trousers". This one's a keeper!

Summary: Babysitting Tool
Review: These videos are great. My niece uses them to bribe the kids she babysits....."If you're good, we'll watch Wallace and Gromit." She has used them successfully on numerous occassions. My 3 year old nephew likes A GRAND DAY OUT best. The other ones are a little to fast and action packed for him. Anyone who likes W & G are friends of mine!

Summary: a quinti-essential must have
Review: For someone who doesn't often buy videos I must say that "Wallace & Gromit" was probably one of the most worthwhile impulsive purchases I have made recently. Creator, Nick Park (who's responsible for the "Chicken Run" release--also a must see) has brought claymation to new levels with crackerjack humor and wit. The story centers around Wallace, the goofy window-washer by day/inventor by night and his intelligent albeit mute canine, Gromit. If you don't feel like purchasing the whole set, buy "The Wrong Trousers" for an introduction to the series. The unique and inventiveness of this series is reflected in its exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston a few years back, but by now means is this "high-bro" vs. "lo-bro" humor; it can be enjoyed by all.

Summary: Great achievement in animation and comedy!
Review: Wallace, that sweet but somewhat bumbling inventor, and his brilliant and somewhat irascible dog Gromit, pursue adventures in three short animated films by the multiple Academy Award-winning director, Nick Park. THE WRONG TROUSERS is probably the most consistently funny, but A CLOSE SHAVE has moments of extreme hilarity as well. A GRAND DAY OUT has less side-splitting humor, but is charming and has some very funny bits of its own. These films wear extremely well under repeated viewing. You may end up inviting people to watch them who have never seen Wallace and Gromit. Watching people experience the delight for the first time is a grand treat. Park also directed CHICKEN RUN and a wickedly funny short animated piece called CREATURE COMFORTS. Would you like some CHEESE, Gromit?
