Review: I saw the making of "The Wrong Trousers" on TV one day and was instantly hooked. The animation is great and I love the characters! Feathers McGraw (the penguin) is so cute and mysterious! I bought this DVD for myself and after watching it once my entire family was hooked! If recommend all three of the Wallace and Gromit adventures to every age.

Summary: Laughed so hard I cried!
Review: So "A Grand Day Out" is a dud, "The Wrong Trousers" and "A Close Shave" more than make up the price! I first saw "The Wrong Trousers" on PBS and I knew I had to have the video. I just can't find the words to express how hillarious this is...the expressions are perfect and the animation divine! Same goes for "Close Shave". I just can't get enough! More, More, More!

Review: Re: the previous review: Yeah, and you know, that Charlie Chaplin was a real dud, too. He had baggy pants and a cute mustache and twirled his cane. Big deal. And Buster Keaton had no personality at all. He didn't even have facial expressions. Talk about bland!Nick Park's W&G shorts share a kinship with the work of the two masters mentioned above, and they (or at least the second two - Grand Day Out is a good rough sketch) can hold their own against Charlie and Buster's classic shorts any day. The flabbergasting technical quality of the animation alone would be enough to make these fascinating viewing, but it's just the beginning. This aspect is then combined with expert facility and expressiveness in cinematography, editing, music and sound. The humor spans the range from blink-and-you'll-miss-them inside jokes to droll character interaction to spectacular slapstick action on a Keaton+ scale. "Good enough" is never good enough for Park: everything down to the voice performances (mostly just Wallace, I guess) the lighting of the backgrounds, and the perspective in big landscape shots, is perfect. "The Wrong Trousers" and "A Close Shave" rank among the great films of the decade. I know making them must be an incredible headache, but, come on, Nick! Let's hear it for more Wallace & Gromit! (Or... dare I say it?... a feature.)

Review: These reviews all point to the amazing animation, and that it is. Unfortunately, the stories are not all that interesting, and the characterizations are very bland. Wallace has no identifiable personality at all, and Gromit rolls his eyes a lot. Big deal.

Summary: Delightfully funny and clever
Review: Each time I watch each of these episodes in the life of Wallace and Grommit, I find myself uplifted and inspired. The scripts are wondefully funny and clever (A Grand Day Out isn't the most fantastic, but it's still full of laughs) and the patience Nick Park must have in creating these animations is awe-inspiring. The transfer to DVD is wondeful - there's no fantastic sound effects, but one must remember the medium for which they were originally written.

Review: Here are my rankings of the trilogy: 1. A Close Shave. hilarious and inventive, althoug my 3-year-old though it was a little too scary and intense. 2. The Wrong Trousers. The non-verbal "Penguin with no name" character really makes this entertaining. 3. A Grand Day Out. Where is Wallace's big, toothy mouth? And just what the heck is that thing on the moon? Please, Mr. Park, Please! Please make more Wallace and Gromit films!

Summary: Totally adorable!
Review: I saw the first W&G short "A Grand Day Out" at an animation festival a long time ago when it first came out. I thought it was cute and had strong production values, but the plot and style didn't really impress me. I hadn't seen the other two shorts until I purchased this DVD. I'm still of the same opinion of "A Grand Day Out" , but "The Wrong Trousers" and especially "A Close Shave" are extremely cute and make this DVD worth buying. In general, if you like sweet, gently funny (but also gently witty) animated stories told in an adorable manner, buy this DVD! Don't expect any really Big Thoughts or Deep Ideas, just a very enjoyable viewing experience. The extras on the DVD are also quite interesting since they trace the evolution of Nick Park's work, though it's rather sad that the Behind the Scenes Footage of "The Wrong Trousers" seemed to comprise of only part of a TV special rather than the whole show -- this inquiring viewer wanted to know more!
