Summary: Lightweight Disney fun
Review: Well, it's Disney, so it can't go too wrong even as a piece of lightweight fluff. I read a review of the movie that said it was originally intended to be a far more complex "quest" epic, but it was scaled back partway into production. Watching the film, you can totally picture the director saying, "Forget all that stuff, just make it funny." The result is a bunch of the most mono-dimensional characters you've ever seen running around doing completely improbable things, but so what? It makes for a hilarious ride.Warning to parents: Kuzco's (the emperor/llama) behavior is SO over-the-top that it will inspire endless imitative behavior in most kids. They will run around the house making you crazy by saying "Boom baby!" and "Uh huh, uh huh, uh huh" a million times. The film's message, of course, is that snotty, selfish Kuzco eventually learns to care about others, but it is so thinly presented that the kids will mostly just remember the sarcastic & snide things that Kuzco says for the first 99% of the film. In all: Not Disney's best, but fun, light entertainment for the kids.

Summary: Reminded me of every style Ive ever seen
Review: My fiance was loathe to rent this movie with me because he thought it would be stupid. Instead we spent the entire time laughing. The jokes are very funny and often unexpected. Even when you do see something coming, there is generally a twist thrown in to make it hillarious.
The movie most definately doesnot take itself seriously, often purposely falling out of the time period and setting or solving impossible situations with impossible solutions. It was completely off from you standard Disney fare in this respect, reminding you not only of Disney, but I also couldn't help but thinking of the Looney Toons. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with this movie, even if you are not a fan of normal Disney Full-length features.

Review: A real grear disney adventure that goes right beside the other ones,not just the adventures of tom and jerry or somtin'.When i watched it,i laughed so hard,fell off my seat and rolled with my face as red as a tomato!Now,sure most disney movies have that"magic"touch...You know,the sappy love stories,most animals or humans parents dying and a song like every 2 seconds.But i think that disney thought there movies were TOO predictible,but that all changed.I wish i had the DVD with all the extras but i don't even have a DVD player:(But if you want a cartoon comedy,get this and it will be worth your money!

Summary: Absolutely Hysterical!
Review: This short but funny Disney film slipped through the cracks in 2000, but anyone who's a fan of Tex Avery or Chuck Jones must see this work. For the first (and possibly last?) time, Disney leaves behind its gentle style of humor and its cloying musicals for a trip to a zany world where the hero is not all that nice, where the villain's henchman steals the show by being just plain goofy, and where slapstick rules the day. Great voice work all around, from the usually dim David Spade to the always funny Patrick Warburton, make this film that much better. And dig the theme, written by Sting and sung by Tom Jones.

Summary: Slapstick, adventure, and a lesson or two.
Review: The Emperor Kuzco (voice by David Spade) is a spoiled brat, arrogant and unconcerned with the feelings of anyone other than himself. However, when he steps on his advisor, Yzma (Eartha Kitt!), he quickly discovers that some people don't like being stepped on. Turned into a llama, Kuzco, must return himself to his normal form, and reclaim his throne. Pacha (John Goodman), a simple peasant, seems a likely enough stooge; he even sees some good in Kuzco. Kuzco and Pacha have a good chance, a good chance that is if Kuzco first learns a few lessons. [Color, released in 2000, with a running time of 1 hour, 18 minutes.] My children (especially my eight-year-old son) love this movie. As with most Disney movies, there is very little objectionable in it. Instead, there is just a funny movie, with lots of slapstick, some adventure, and even a lesson or two thrown in. As with most Hollywood productions, it has only a nodding acquaintance with history, but it is OK, in spite of that. Therefore, let me say that my family all recommends this movie to you.

Summary: Hilarious!
Review: This is one of those Disney films that should actually be classed as a comedy rather than merely an animated children's movie. It's basically about an arrogant emperor Kuzma who is turned into a llama by his evil advisor, Ysma and her dim-witted, butch right-hand man. On his journey back to the palace to reclaim his crown, he befriends (grudgingly) by a local peasant whose village he had planned to destroy with his new swimming pool. It's got plenty of jokes, wisely aiming them at several age groups. For instance, there's plenty of visual jokes alongside the wittier asides intended for a more adult audience. For instance, there's a wonderfully zany scene in which Yzma replaces a huge pinata and is beaten repeatedly by blindfolded young kids. Obviously this will have everyone laughing. Yet adults may well find themselves raising a smile at Kuzko's sarcasm, mocking tone and dry sense of humour. Also great value is Yzma's sidekick, a kind of dimwitted butch geek. Thankfully, the usual idealistic ideas of friendship that are often shoved down your throat in Disney movies aren't as inherent. It's nice to have a hero that, to begin with at least, is cruel and nasty but very very funny. All in all, this is a fantastic little film that marks a standout in Disney's usual fare.

Summary: NO TOUCHY
Review: This is an awesome animated film. I find it hilarious and fresh. Not to mention TOM JONES does the opening song! WOW! It is a true example that Disney is ready for the changing times. This film has some of THE best lines I have heard in a loooonnnnng time! They are original and get both kids and adults to burst out laughing. My friends child is about 2 years old. She doesn't talk a lot because she is VERY shy. But if anyone points to a character on the cover and says "who's that?" she pipes up proudly and clearly says their name! She has even memorized lines in the movie (especially Kronk lines). I am addicted also. Granted my husband and I truely appreciate Disney art and animation. So, maybe I am a little biast to begin with. But this is no ordinary Disney movie. Many Disney loyalists have booed this film. It really is a departure from the Disney norm. That, said I can recommend this movie to anyone with a sense of humor. Just a few heads up: #1. This is not a musical, appreciate it for what it is and don't expect them to break into song at any moment! #2. The humor is not usual Disney. It is very corny, and adult (I don't mean sex, violence, etc.) but kids can really get into it. There is also a lot of Physical humor, bouncing, tripping, crazy walking, etc. #3. Other reviewers have noted that the Special Edition DVD is not worth the extra $ because there really isn't any extra stuff, WRONG! These are people who obviosly have no interest in the research, development, and art of making a Disney animated feature. As such they should have read what was included, realized that it would mean nothing to them and purchased the regular edition. As for my family (I repeat, we are animation and Disney fans) this was a real treat. It is very interesting. So decide which side of the fence you are on and make the smart choice. Yzma - Not so much a line but when she is trying to get rid of Kuzco. Yzma and Kuzco are at the dinner table. Kronk is serving. She is trying to tell Kronk to hit him on the head but he just ain't gettin' it. So she has a brocolli in each hand and is repeatedly hitting one brocolli with the other. Under her breathe and out of the corner of her mouth she says "(h)it (h)im on the (h)ead."
Kronk - (talking to a squirrel)"Squeek Squeekety Squeeker" (and many others!) Old man in opening - "Beware the Groove!"

Summary: David Spade's history of bad movies continues
Review: I wanted to see Castaway. I really did. But I had to take my little brother, and my dad was the one paying for the tickets, so I HAD to see it. Plus, it had good reviews from the critics, so I figured it couldn't be all bad, right? WRONG.
"The Emperor's New Groove" is unfunny, simplistic, and stupid. Despite the talent that went into it, it was awful. The best character was the squirrel, I swear. The jokes weren't funny, and I found myself constantly praying that the witch, would catch Kuzco and kill him. The film was so Un-Disney I almost cried. The reasons why:
1. Lack of music. There was no music! Disney was one of the last film companies to make musicals, and now it is no more. I guess the musicals are a lost genre, which [...stinks], because Disney really did have great music.
2. Lack of terrifying bad guy. Look at all the past Disney classics. You have Ursula, Millicent, Cruella DeVille, Scar, and others. What do they all have in common? They're all terrifying. However, in an attempt to make the witch (I don't even bother to remember her name) funny, they just made her unscary and totally retarded.
3. Bad animation: I totally loathed the animation. Where was the detail, the beauty, the grace that all other Disney movies had? Nowhere! This movie was badly drawn, above all things.
I don't know what Disney was thinking. But whatever it was, it wasn't about making a good movie.
And you know what the worst part is? My little brother got to see Castaway anyway.

Summary: On its way to becoming a cult classic...
Review: I admit to not being very old, nor do I profess top be a Disney guru, but I have indeed seen every animated film that Disney has produced, and this one is one of my all time favorites. Others were funny as in "Haha, Grumpy fell into the water!" but this one was witty. It was together. It was darned funny. It has become one of the staple movies among folks at my university, up there with Monty Python and The Princess Bride, where one can randomly quote any line and others will react by laughing hysterically or quoting the next six word for word. "Oh yeah... it's all coming together..."

Summary: A riot! Not the loud, obnoxious, immature toon I expected.
Review: A very misleading trailer. I thought this was going to be a goofy, Animaniac-like cartoon romp. I never saw it until I rented it for my kids. It was far from a masterpiece in story telling or character development, but it is truly one of the funniest Disney films to date. David Spade, John Goodman, and Patrick Warburton turn in extremely hilarious voice performances of their characters, especially Warburton's angel/devil act. It is lighter than the average Disney, but still ends on the usual morale high note. Kids will love it anyway because it's animated, but adults will find it unusually funny for Disney. One piece of advice - the Ultimate 2 Disc Edition does not provide much more than the cheaper version if you want to save money on the DVD.
