Summary: A decent DVD to own
Review: Alice in Wonderland on DVD (Gold Edition) has a few more bonus features than other Gold Edition DVDs by Disney. The movie is one of the better Disney animated movies, in my opinion. The picture and sound quality are improved over the VHS version as well.

Summary: Loved it
Review: I remember watching this as a kid and I also remember enjoying it very much. Now that I am older, I can properly analyse it and I gotta say, this is probably one of the most creative and imaginative stories of all time. What can I say? It's an beautiful story where the imagination is set loose and runs rampant, and while you're watching it you feel like you're actually in that world meeting the interesting characters that you eventually imbed into the back of your mind. All in all Alice in wonderland is just one of those cartoons you'll never forget.

On another note those who like this movie will certainly love a new Japanese animation called "Spirited Away" which has been licsensed by Disney and will hit the theatres supposedly on September 20th. Spirited away is like a more "industrial" alice in wonderland and the animation is just spectacular. It might be a little to intense for kids but it's really up to the parents discretion. You might also like to check out kiki's delivery service also licsened by Disney. There's a wealth of foriegn animated cartoons out there to further your collection of "alice in wonderland" type stories and these two are just the stepping stones. .

Summary: Disney's Best
Review: I've constantly loved this movie since I was about 4, and now, at 17, I still love it. It's one of those kind of movies that you sort of don't get until you're older. I never grow weary of the wierd glasses-birds, and the flamongo-croquett game in the end. I used to like it because it was colorful and otherworldly, and now it's all that as well as VERY trippy...

Summary: Curiouser and Curiouser...Alice Could Have Rocked...
Review: My favorite Disney movie of all time is Alice in Wonderland. When I realized that it was out on DVD and I hadn't bought it, I looked for it everywhere and couldn't find it, until I bought it here at Amazon. I was curious about the extra footage on the disc, considering that the film was over 55 years old, I didn't expect there to be too much.

What I found was a rerelease trailer (note: not the original theatrical trailer!) and an amusing and informative documentary called "Operation: Wonderland" from the 1950s featuring Walt Disney himself. I was satisfied with the disc, that is, until I did some researching.

Apparently the Laserdisc version of Alice has many more extras on it. Why Disney opted to not put them on the DVD is beyond me, but I think it really hurt the disc. Not to mention, the picture quality isn't that fantastic. I would have loved to give Alice something higher, but I have to be fair and give it three stars.

Summary: One of the best animated movies of all time
Review: The story of the animated film is similar to that of the first book, but contains parts of the second book. Dozy Alice is so silly she follows trouble by chasing a talking rabbit down hs hole. At the bottom, she drinks an unknown substance which helps her get through a talking door into Wonderland. Here she meets the Dodo, TweedleDum and TweedleDee (who tell her the story of the Walrus and the Carpenter), the Talking flowers (watch out for the snobby Iris!), the Caterpillar and the Cheshire Cat. She even has un-birthday tea with the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. However, Alice gets caught up in a game of croquet with the Queen of Hearts, and later a trial. The whole thing becomes such a nightmare, Alice realises she's had a dream while she dozed off.

Firstly, I don't know why loads of people think this film is cheesy. I know Alice isn't for everyone, but when you look at the other films made based on Children's classics by Disney (eg- Jungle Book, Hunchback of Notre Dame), you'll see it's more faithful than those films to the original. However if you have read the books and haven't seen this film, some characters are missing (eg- Duchess, Mock Turtle, Knave of Hearts, White Knight). This may just think that Disney has ruined this classic forever. They haven't. It's the best adaption I've ever seen.

Although I actually have the PAL version, I suppose the movie is just the same over in North America. The best bits are the Walrus and the Carpenter, the garden of singing flowers and flamingo croquet. And the Mad Tea Party is still the funniest part of a Disney classic. So buy this movie. Wether it's a video tape or DVD.

(I also live near Carroll's birth place!)

Summary: My favorite Disney cartoon
Review: I don't know why I like Alice in Wonderland better than the other Disney movies. I think it's just a really fun to watch movie that I never get sick of. The characters are fun, especially the singing flowers and the March Hare. It's very colorful and trippy like the book. I loved the catarpillar too.

Summary: Always a favorite
Review: From the start, Alice has been one of my favorite films by Disney.

Sure, I haven't rented the DVD but I recently saw this movie again and I thought it was very charming. I could give it more stars, but my only problem with it is that it doesn't have a heart. Still, it's fun.

I still use lines in the film in my daily vocabulary ("Serpent!" and "I have an excellent idea...let's change the subject" are just two.) The best sequences in the film are all supervised or animated by the same guy...Ward Kimball. Those two scenes are the Cheshire Cat, and the Mad Tea Party.

Overall, my sentimental favorite film by Disney, because I used to know it inside out.

Summary: Great Movie
Review: Great Movie. Disney lately has made the mistake of making animated musicals with songs that men don't like unless they're gay. This movie is not an example of that genre of film. When one watches Aladdin, Pocahontas or Mulan, one gets the feeling that there is a plot by Disney to turn young boys into homosexuals. That is not the case in this movie. The songs couldn't be better. Disney did a great job working poems from Lewis Carroll's two books into songs. Disney also added things to the Alice story which made it funnier. I would like to also note that this movie is psychedelic. So if you're into the whole drug culture thing, then this would be a great movie to watch if you've just dropped acid.

Summary: Curiouser and Curiouser
Review: Disney's retelling of the classic story of Alice in Wonderland is pretty cute indeed. The animation of course is breathtaking as almost all of the Disney's films are. It's not a big musical, and it's not a grand movie as when it was released way back when. However, Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite all time stories by Lewis Carroll. Disney has done a spectacular job of creating the story and combining both Alice in Wonderland and Alice through the Looking Glass, and added their own little touches to the movie. Kathryn Beaumont does a fantastic job of creating the voice for Alice. And she is in one of the Disney's hall of famers now, she went on to do the voice of Wendy I believe in Disney's Peter Pan. The character's are very creative with The White Rabbit, The Mad Hatter and March Hare, The Snobby Flowers, The Caterpiller, The Cheshire Cat, and the Queen of Hearts who really seems to be fond of cutting off people's heads. It's witty and really fun for children of all ages. Though if your a fan like me of the classic story, you may sit there and nitpick the movie. But as I remember it's generally for kids, and they will love this movie. The only thing is now when I try to show the kids other films of Alice in Wonderland they always think of the Disney version :) But it's fun, witty, and a classic Disney hit.
The DVD is a bit disappointing though but does have some rather fun stuff such as: Alice in Wonderland Storybook, Alice in Wonderland Trivia Game, Operation Wonderland (This is actually a very nice feature includes tours through Walt Disney's offices and the creation of Alice in Wonderland, besides that a promotional fun of Alice in Wonderland staring Kathryn Beaumont). They also have an Unbirthday Song Sing-Along, All in the Golden Afternoon Sing-Along, and a Theatrical Trailer. After perchasing the Snow White Collectable DVD collection this is a bit disappointing DVD seeing as how much more attention was paid to Snow White all of Disney's versions should be like the extravagant Snow White DVD. But it's fun, has some really nice things, and the animation on the DVD is spetactualar. Kids and Adults will really enjoy this fun hit :)
