Summary: Excellent Animated Martial Arts Action!
Review: If you are a fan of Japanese animation and Hong Kong kung fu movies, this movie will be a pleasure to watch. It stays true to the original video game, it shows the awesome skills of Ryu as he teams up with his long lost fellow student Ken Masters, who almost is the equal to Ryu, to fight the evil Bison with his collection of fighters. The animation is very well done and the movie has a cool soundtrack, if you like rock and alternative. I'm a big Bruce Lee fan, so I wanted Fei Long, the mirror image of Lee, to have had a bigger part in the movie. The fight between Ryu and Fei Long had to be one of the best, it's one of my favorite scenes in the movie. I hope, if it's not out already, they will have a sequel to this anime. So if you haven't seen it yet and you like the video games that it is based on, I would highly recommend it.

Summary: "Don't you Cryyyyyyyyyyyy tonight"
Review: This movie is good but whyyyyyyyyyyy did they had to change that beautiful musiccccccc(I was really crying when I said these last two lines). The ORIGINAL MOVIE it totally a blast,a recomendation to everyone who is or isn't a fan of street fighter.I am a fan of it from long time ago as I can recall but I just can't let pass a thing like this,it is humilating, even Fatal Fury got a better music than this anime did.The only reason for not giving it 3 stars is because I still hope hat a good company such as PIONEER or MANGA VIDEOS will try to save this movie by giving it a whole new dubbing and returning it its original music.Only if this happen I will finally die in peace :)But had you only heard that beautiful song called "CRY" played during the battle between Chun-li and Balrog? Oh,that song really broke my heart,it is the best song EVER!!!!!but they just replaced it for some crappy music that I can't even remember what the name is(If it has any).So as I said before I still hope and I know that someday a GOOD company will remaster this anime beacuse it is just so good to just let it go

Summary: My Street Fighter II night...
Review: All I have to say is that the scene where Chung Lee fights with that psycho Vega, is absolutely incredible! I first saw this movie after I came back from a very fun night on the town. I sure enjoyed this movie! Afterwards I passed out on my friend's couch and woke up just with my pants off. Woohoo!!! Overall I give the night a 3 star rating and the movie a 4 star rating.

Summary: Good for an American version
Review: Ive seen both the original Japanese version and American version.

The downside to the American version are the various cuts they made. Not only the Chun Li shower scene, but also her fight with Vega (Balrog in the Japanese version) in the hotel room, which was the best fight in the movie. Also Ryu's fight in the very beginning and various other tidbits here and there.

The upside is that they redid the sound track, and the new rock tunes actually add alot to the movie. It also sounds like they redid the sound effects and everything .. bones seem to have more *crunch* when broken in this version.

The voice overs arent nearly as horrible as many dubbed movies are. It still doesnt compare to the superior Japanese voice acting...but it could be worse.

The action is fast and furious, as it should be. The plot is generic .. as it should be :)

I think this movie is over priced considering it is edited regardless of the "Uncut" title and the fact that theres no Japanese language/English subtitle option.

I'll be buying it used .. but i'll be buying it.

Summary: A great action Anime. A real fireball.
Review: There's been many Anime's based on fighting games, including Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, Tekken, etc... But, "Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie" is probably the most well made one out of the group. Exceptionally well drawn characters, incredible fight scenes, coherent story, there is a lot to like about this Anime. If there is anything that stands out, it has to be the awesome fight scenes. This Anime fully takes advantage of the fact that it is an animation, and not a real movie with real actors, and choreographs some spectacular moves together. Obviously, the reason I mention this is other Anime's have failed that simple task and churned out some real dull fight sequences. Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, however, is a real eye-candy.

Summary: Sorry, Van Damme
Review: When Jean-Claude Van Damme came out with the live action movie, "Street Fighter", a lot of people, especially video game fans, were disgusted. This movie was a spoof of a video game, not a translation. However, this tragedy would be avenged with the release of "Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie". Unlike the live action film, this movie is extremely intense, decently parallel to the arcade story, and is overall a good movie.

In the story, the evil organization known as Shadowloo is unleashing an icy grip over the world powers. Under the leadership of M.Bison, scientists Brainwash expert martial artists to assassinate world leaders. Bison's latest target is the legendary Ryu, who had recently defeated his top henchman, Sagat. Kidnapping his best friend and respected rival, Ken Masters, Bison plans to either add Ryu to his army, or destroy him. With the aid of Air Force Captain William Guile, Interpol agent Chun Li, and Sumo Wrestler Edmond Honda, Ryu wages a war against Shadowlaw, and prepares for a showdown with his best friend.

The fights in this movie are spectacular, as the fighters from the smash hit video game execute signature moves. One of the most dazzling fights is the match up between Chun Li and Vega, which is very "Matrix"-like (ironically, this movie was released five years before "The Matrix"). There's eye candy in the movie, too. (Keep your eyes peeled for a cameo appearance by Akuma.) With a dynamic storyline and a cutting edge soundtrack, "Street Fighter II" is a masterpiece.

Summary: Japanese vs. American and everything else in between
Review: Okay, the lowdown:

Some of the scenes deserve the Japanese soundtrack (like the Ken and Ryu vs. Bison/Vega fight), on the other hand, silverchair's Israel's Son is fitting for that scene where Ken drives his car on the Golden Gate(?) to see his girl ("...you're late for your execution, if you're not here soon, I'll kill your friend instead...", probably about what's going to happen later in the movie), or when he's driving around with his girl around Washington Lake with Alice In Chains' song Them Bones in the background ("...I feel so alone, gonna end up a big ol' pile of them bones...", I guess that is how he was feeling). Another fitting one was when they put that KMFDM song Ultra during the fight between Chun-Li and Vega/Balrog ("...give it to me, I want your fire..."). Korn's Blind is a good end credits music. I don't know if it fits, but it still sounds cool (even though I don't like Korn). It all makes sense, the way they put the English (not necessarily American because silverchair is Australian) music in some scenes of the movie. The dubbing is NOT that bad, but could have done better (Ninja Scroll, anyone?), The DVD is MUCH, MUCH BETTER than the VHS. Hey, at least it ain't like Tekken the Movie when they totally butchered the Offspring song in the end credits (song does not fit the ending of the movie at all).

I just wished they had an option of subtitled, Japanese trailer, keeping the deleted scenes in (like Chun-Li's shower scene, and I think a few more scenes), or different angles for an option in viewing between the true Japanese version and the American.

Unlike Ninja Scroll, however, (and I hate to say that), this one has one of the most realistic fighting scenes in an anime, most of the moves in the movie can be done in real-life (trust me, I tried it).

Anime purists need not to watch this, as close-minded as some of you are, but if you really want to watch this flick, get the unrated version (I don't know if they still make the PG-13 version of this movie, if they do, DON'T GET IT! ), you just might like it. Newbees to Anime, get this as a beginner's movie, or Akira.

All in all, great movie, highly recommended.

Summary: One of the best martial Arts anime.!
Review: Unlike the live-action movie of street fighter with jean claude van damme this one had a better storyline and it sticked with the real main charcter "Ryu" rather then guile. If you are a street fighter fan I highly recommend this one and Street Fighter Alpha. This movie starts out with Ryu fighting against Sagat or someone that looks like him anyway, it's a great scene by the way. Also a great fighting scene to is ryu and ken fighting against the boss of all street fighter games.DVD or videocasste it doesn't matter it will turn out great in the end besides the DVD version really does not have many extras just some stuff. Anyway I hope you buy because I did.

Summary: This Kicks The Van Damne Film's Butt!
Review: This animated version more than made up for that terrible live action version that was put out about a few years before this! The artwork and animation is incredible! All the fights are great but Chung Li Vs. Vega is easily the show stealer on this DVD! Get this DVD but be warned! It does contain some language and lots of violence!

By the way, for those that have kids that like anime but don't want them to see all that, there is an edited version of this same film available but I think its only on VHS.

Summary: I don't like anime
