Summary: Don't believe the bad press
Review: Ignore the constant whining and sniping from anime "fans" who'll tell you what an abomination this show is, how it's no match for the original Japanese "Card Captor Sakura" series.. Card Captor Sakura is a great series, deservedly so, and anime fans can enjoy it in its original Japanese format on the DVD releases which are available and ongoing. CardCAPTORS is a version of the show customised for the US English-speaking market. So that means that some of the characters are renamed. Okay, so "Tomoyo-chan" is now called by the more accessible name of "Madison" - so what? It doesn't hurt the story. At the end of the day, THIS IS A KIDS SHOW, and us adults have no right to complain about how it hasn't been made in exactly the way that we want it. Grown-ups can enjoy the original Card Captor Sakura DVDs. For kids, CardCaptors is where it's at. CardCaptors puts an interesting new slant on a well-loved anime series, but if you're someone for whom only the original Japanese version will do - well, buy that instead and quit whining about CardCaptors. It's not for sad old grown-ups, anyway! But if you're one of the few anime fans that's mature enough to appreciate something a little different, then you'll like what they've done here. My advice? Buy both. They both have their own unique qualities and both deserve to be seen, independently of each other.

Summary: CAPTURING THE POWER, SWORD, AND FIGHT CARD!
Review: In the first episode, a penguin slide weighing near a ton was upsided! It happens to be the work of the Power Card. Sakura challenges it in a game of Tug-O-War, and with Li's unseen help, she defeats and captures it. In the second episode, Sakura, Madison, and another friend of their's aregoing to study at Sakura's house, but then they stop at a store to buy a broach. Sakura chooses a heart with wings, Madison chooses a cross, and their friend chooses the sword. While they're studing, they put on their broaches. Then the girls' broach turns into a sword. She's being controled by the Sword Card! Sakura gets the sword out of her hand and captures the Sword Card. In the third, Sakura gets a new rival. Her name's Meilen. She likes Li, and tries to get rid of Sakura. Then they fight the Fight Card, with Sakura ending up catching the Fight Card.

Summary: DVD not perfect, but close
Review: In the second volume of CLAMP's Cardcaptor Sakura, Sakura continues her journey to recapture the escaped cards, and gets a new rival along the way. The music and animation continue to be a step above over most anime series, and the plot continues to be strong, even though it does start to stray from the manga, and starts to get a little bit redundant by episode 7. Luckily, Shaoran's appearance keeps things new and fresh. I was only a tiny bit disappointed by the second volume of Cardcaptor Sakura on DVD. Pioneer includes even less extras in this second volume. In fact, there is only one measly extra: The credit-less ending theme. While four complete episodes are nice, at least a few trailers or previews, or maybe some character sketches wouldn't hurt. With just a Japanese audio track and a single extra, these DVDs still lack a bit. Another small disappointment about this DVD is the translation. These annoying "U"-less transliterations of names still exist (i.e.: Toya and Daidoji instead of Touya and Daidouji). Sakura's incanctations are very simply translated, and they just don't sound like the originals. For example, Sakura's original incantations use archaic language and other odities that could've been translated into English, but that weren't. Many words like Sakura's "hanyaan" and "hoeh" weren't subtitled at all. Everything was just done so... simply. Still, it's not really as bad as I make it out to be. The translation is still perfectly legible, just not perfect.

Review: In this, it only proves that it has skipped an episode in the second episode of this movie , when Sakura talks about her capture of the Thunder Card. That happened in the volume before this one.
The reason I give three stars is because it's obvious that it skipped an episode.
But I think one character should be taken out. Of course, we need the main characters. But the secondary characters...
Mr. Terada and Rika:
Yes, they both love each other as proven in the anime and manga. I give my approval to these two characters for being on Cardcaptors/ Cardcaptor Sakura.
Zachary and Chelsie:
Zachery is just really amusing and Chelsie really knows how to handle him. I give my approval to these two characters also.
Nikki:
She doesn't do much in the anime and manga. The only thing she did a good job is in the episode where Sakura captures the Big and create cards. I do not give my approval to this character.

Summary: Card Captor Sakura beat CardcaptorZ by a LANDSLIDE!
Review: Nihao! This is definately for fans of ORIGINAL animation and not that dubbed stuff! CCS is one of the best shows out there and really needs to be more advertised in its original form. Sakura, the heroine, catches magical Clow Cards which are causing problems in this world. Episodes on this DVD include: Sakura, Panda, and the Cute Shop (very funny, who would think a card could be THAT scary!) Sakura and the Memory of her Mother (This episode is quite sad but very good nonetheless) Sakura and the First Mysterious Thief Challenge (Sakura does a really kawaii drawing of Kero-chan that just makes you laugh) Arrival of Sakura's Rival (This is where it REALLY all began, with the arrival of Li Syaoran...) If you were planning on getting the CardcaptorZ version, don't, this version has the better plot, the better characters, better music, and better voices!

Summary: And the cards keep coming!
Review: Not to be missed, this fills in the remaing gaps on what all happened _before_ Li arrived! First up, in Episode 5, Sakura discovers that the Jump card has invaded a young shop owners wares! Worse, it pulls them altogether to form a..well..I don't want to spoil it. Next, the Illusion card is playing with kids minds in the woods, going so far as to try and off Sakura with an image of her late mother! This one has a real tearjerker ending, folks! (And this is coming from a 23 year old male! My mom gave me defective genes, I swear!) For the third ep., a young child is upset at an art museum for apparently altering a painting of him done by his father. Actually it's just been "occupied" by the Silent card, which really doesn't like noise... Also, Li actually makes his first appearance in this episode, in a very brief cameo. Finally, we have the Episode the Dub starts with, Li's arrival at Sakura's school and rather brusque request for the cards collected so far, as well as the activities of the Thunder card... So once again, if you're an addict, grab it! Bring on the third one!! Scorpinac

Summary: The anime I once hated is now my OBSESSION!
Review: Nothing beats an anime DVD except an UNCUT one! At first, I was turned away by the icky, horrible dub "Cardcaptors" (shudders) and vowed to myself to never lay eyes on it again. However, after a month or so, my friend insisted I see the uncut, subtitled version of it. I took a deep breath and braced myself for the explosion of pink and stupid puns... which didn't come! Cardcaptor Sakura is NOT Cardcaptors! So the characters look alike? They're so much deeper and more involved than the stupid Cardcaptors characters are. Now I have both DVDs and am waiting for the release of the third, which I will buy on March 13 (the release date!). Please, if ya hated Cardcaptors, give Cardcaptor Sakura a chance! If you love shoujo anime, you'll love this series just as much as the others, if not more!

Summary: Worse and worse...
Review: Once again, "Cardcaptors" proves itself to be nothing but a pale shadow of Cardcaptor Sakura. The characters are inconsistant and poorly acted on the whole, and the episodes are so out of order that attempting to follow the paper-thin plot is frustrating and pointless. There is little that makes a lot of sense, because so many plot elements are removed, and the episodes have been put into a different order. The only reason to buy this poor excuse for an anime is if you want to watch the same old episodes that are rerun constantly. A total waste of money. Check out Cardcaptor Sakura for a worthwhile buy. You'll be plesantly surprised at what it offers, and appalled at what you're missing if you have only seen "Cardcaptors".
