Description:
This Nickelodeon series operates on the premise that three Martians sent to conquer Earth in the year 2053 decide the planet (i.e. the U.S.) is a "happenin' crib" and switch sides to join up with three Earthling teens to fight for the preservation of fries, burgers, and hoverboards. In the first of the three 22-minute episodes, the Martian emperor's henchman Damage sends a delectable spy named Shaboom to trick the traitorous trio and steal their powers. "Playback/Payback" has the ugly boys sending phony footage of their war against Earth to the emperor, but Damage deploys a spy robot to verify their progress. In the final episode, footage of Earthling Angie proves irresistible to a multi-eyed Martian monster, inspiring a visit to Earth to kidnap the object of his affections. If you can get past the vulgar title, this series (based on a series of British books) is basically an update of Power Rangers with Pixar-style animation. Ages 5 and up. --Kimberly Heinrichs
