Silly but harmless, The Archies: Jugman finds the old Riverdale High gang coping with prehistoric phenomena on the eve of a homecoming dance. When an experimental, geo-thermal power source thaws out a caveman (actually a cave-teen) deep below Archie's school, the out-of-time visitor surfaces and wreaks havoc in town, eating fossilized bugs and tearing through the halls and haunts of Betty, Veronica, Reggie, Big Moose, and the other kids. Making matters worse is that this ancient youth is a dead ringer for slacker Jughead, who bonds with the fellow misfit and embarks on a crusade to save him from exploitation. The set-up is clever enough, but inspiration is generally low and the humor is patronizing toward kids. The addition of such incongruous elements as robots doesn't help, but the main storyline and core relationship between Archie's crew and their jabbering new-old pal is touching. --Tom Keogh
