Summary: Hilarious Early Wiggles
Review: I got this as part of a DVD 2 pack: Hoop Dee Doo and Dance Party. I would agree that the packaging for the DVD is misleading, as it features a picture of the latter day Wiggles, with the mysterious banner "From the Wiggles Classic Collection". The Wiggles are at least 10 years younger than their current incarnations, but everything that made them what they are is already evident: the catchy tunes, great musicality, good choreography, their infectious energy and love of working with children. For that they get a full 5+ stars. The hilarity comes in observing the bare bones production; from Anthony's unkempt hair, hairy chest and undecidedness of the color of his skivvy, the early Captain Feathersword baring his chest (played by Anthony or Paul Field) to the early versions of Wags, Dorothy, Henry, the Big Red Car with the loose steering wheel (notice that Jeff is driving, not Greg!). There is bad lighting, homemade props (check out the light board behind Greg during his magic skit, it is missing lights!). Still entertaining and charming in its fauvism!

Review: This video has some of the best of The Wiggles songs (at least according to this household!) like Big Red Car, Dorothy's Dance Party, and Can You Point Your Fingers And DO The Twist?. However, this video was almost painful to watch. Although we got a kick out of the way the guys looked in years past, the camera moves around way too much. It's almost nauseating to watch from all the camera movement.

Summary: Our son loves this DVD
Review: Our son is a Wiggles-aholic, so we are very familiar with all of their DVDs. This is one of his favorites. He seems to prefer their older DVDs like this one which still have the basic sets and costumes (before they became more commercial and slick when acquired by Disney). We highly recommend this DVD.

Summary: Early Wiggles, but still highly entertaining
Review: I've read several negative reviews of Dance Party, but I wanted to chime in with my 2 1/2 year old daughter's opinion. She doesn't mind that the props are not the best, nor that the costumes aren't the matching ones of the Wiggles today. No, she loves this DVD because of the catchy songs! She has many, many Wiggles DVDs, but this one is her favorite! The choreography is much simpler, meaning she is more able to keep up. Yes, I thought I was buying a recent DVD too, but once I watched it along with my daugher, I was happy she enjoys it so much!

Summary: Outdated History...
Review: Still a good video for our 1 1/2 year old son, but outdated and of poor quality. This looks like out-takes from the Wiggles early attempts at launching their show. It is interesting to learn how the group started out, but the quality of the production, filming, and entertainment is far below the Wiggles of today. As others have noted, the modern photos on the front of the DVD and the Copyright date are misleading. While kids still enjoy and watch this, neither my son nor I enjoy it even as much as 20 minutes we could have watched of Wiggles on the Disney Channel.

Summary: Don't buy "classic" Wiggles
Review: This DVD is awful! My 18 month old can even tell the difference. It looks to be from at least 5 years ago, well before The Wiggles were successful. And it shows. The quality of the video itself is poor, and the performances are not much better. Very amateurish. I strongly suggest staying away from this DVD.

Summary: What's up with that?
Review: This video is just creepy! My son received it from Grandma for Christmas and it's the only Wiggles video that I just can't watch... Their clothes and props are cheaply made. They all need to shave. And Anthony's hair! He looks like a wooly mammoth. Even my son, who is three said "Those wiggles dirty, need bath, Mommy"... It's really deceptive packaging that upsets me with this video. The pictures on the outside are NOT representative of the tape inside the box.

Summary: Early Wiggles, but it sure doesn't bother my 3 year-old
Review: I grabbed this DVD in a haste and didn't pay attention to the fact that it was REALLY early Wiggles stuff.
On the first viewing, I couldn't stop groaning at how simplistic everything was.
But my 3 year-old girl absolutely LOVED it, and 3 months later, she still wants to watch it several times a week. She actually wants to watch it more, but I've cut back her TV time.
Now, I actually watch this DVD with her almost every time. I find it hilarious to see Anthony before a hair and makeup person got ahold of him and a cardboard version of the Big Red Car.So, in summary, if your kids are huge Wiggles fans, this DVD is worth it at the slightly lower price than the other Wiggles DVDs.

Summary: Didn't keep my kid entertained
Review: I felt bad buying this CD for my child ($16 at that). The video was made in such poor quality and it looked like something made back in the 80s. There were rarley any props, and the dog and dinoaur's costume looked as if it were rented from a ragety costume shop. Sorry, but this video could not keep my little one entertained!

Summary: A good first Wiggles purchase. There, I said it.
Review: Come on folks. Given the general homogenization of kid-vid products these days, and ease of access to video editing tools that makes danged near everything slicker than Mobil One, we should welcome something that's got at least a *bit* of an edge to it. These are the Wiggles in their lean and hungry days. Their "big red car" is a laughably painted hunk of cardboard. They used to let Jeff drive (I guess he totaled this version after an off-screen bout of narcolepsy). The loveably obnoxious Capt. Feathersword character used to be played by a sometimes-hairy Anthony and his brothers. One of his brothers was such a dancin' clutz that they had to place him BEHIND EVERYONE ELSE in the big dance finale, and only cut to him for about a second or two at a time, so you wouldn't see his two left feet. My better half and I nearly cried from laughing at that. So what if a few folks got snookered by the copyright date (ok, it *ought* to have been clearly marked as being mid-90s material. Whaddaya gonna do, sue 'em?). A savvy buyer checks this out on Amazon prior to purchase, so I can't deduct a star for that. Bottom line--my 3-year-old loves it. I have to admit to groaning the first time I was exposed to these 'strines but I've come to admire their talent. The songs, the choreography, the apparent enjoyment had by all, it's all seductive. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that maybe this would be a good introduction to the Wiggles concept. If you like this at all, you'll really like their other, more refined product. Good on ya, mates--and if you've got more "basement tapes"-type material to unleash with the clutzy proto-Featherswords, feel free, me hearties!
