Summary: We LOVE this video!
Review: This is the first Wiggles video our family had seen, and we love it. My 17 month old daughter asks for it all day by doing the "Di dicky do dum" dance. I find it interesting that other reviewers complained about the lack of quality compared to more recent releases. We just bought the "Wiggly Wiggly World" recent release and were terribly dissapointed--teenage dancers instead of kids, moves my kids can't follow, horrible short short haircuts on the guys, and music and sets that are too complex and overpowering for toddlers. We'll be watching the "Dance Party" video for years.

Summary: Poor quality, GOOD tunes!
Review: Our 2.5 year old and 15 month old are insanely into the Wiggles. It is truly scary. First viewing of this video left me feeling like they wouldn't want to see it again. Bad quality sound and visuals. HOWEVER, for some reason, this is the one they want to watch over and over again. And I have to say the tunes are very catchy. Many times I have found myself humming "The Friendly Pirate Ship" at work (so much for that promotion). I think this one is worth buying, even though it can be hard to look at. Let's face it, the quality on the others is just barely better than amatuer anyway. Kids just love these guys.

Summary: remember, it's for your kids, not for you
Review: My 23 month old finds this just as entertaining as all the other Wiggles DVDs, and believe me, she KNOWS her wiggles. I don't care about the production values, lighting, or even the sound. My daughter's tastes are what counts here, not mine. She dances with every song, and gets excited when each segment starts. Keep your childs tastes in mind when you're buying DVDs like this one, not your own. Remember, you're under no obligation to watch it too. Yes, this is coming from an adult Wiggles fan with another Mini-Wiggle on the way.

Summary: Early Wiggles for Completists only.
Review: Wifey and I are the proud parents of twin two year old Wiggles Fans. Of all the shows our boys could have gotten hooked on we are glad that this was the one. Almost all of the Wiggle's songs can be enjoyed by people of any age and dancing along with my boys twice a day with the airings on Playhouse Disney serves as an excellent source of aerobic exercise. We even listen to Wiggly CDs on every car ride over ten minutes and have not yet gotten to the point where we want to see how far the disks will sail like frisbees out a moving car window. (A feeling I'm sure parents stuck with Barney fetishists know well.)

We picked up this DVD before dropping the boys off at their Nana's house for a sleep over to make the seperation a bit easier for them. Before we said our good-byes put I made sure to start up the disk to serve as a little distraction. Wifey and I actually had to stop and watch the first couple of songs, much to the chagrin of my mother-in-law.

The production values are much, much lower than on any of the later disks. The big red car that my little fellas love so much was a cardboard cut out carried by the fab four on to the stage, Anthony's costume changes several times throughout and includes; a green mock turtle-neck, a green polo shirt and he even took a shot at playing Captain Feathersword. (Two of his brothers also took turns portraying the role that Paul Paddick has now made his and his alone.)

Wifey and I finally left and were still talking about the disk an hour later on our way to dinner and a movie. As near as we can figure, this must have been footage shot as a pilot or maybe even a pitch to a studio prior to the boys getting their own show. Some one must have held on to it and now that The Wiggles have reached a high degree of stardom and recognition, instant cash for the studios.

I'm not complaining, mind you. The boys still bring this DVD over to one of us a couple of times a week to be played and they love the music and dances. Wifey and I even still get a kick out of the hair and shoestring budget sets and effects. Depending on your children though, you may want to think twice before picking up this particular Wiggley release.

My guys are very easy going and understanding about change. I have heard tell of kids out there who throw tantrums or (even worse) get sincerely upset and saddened by unexpected changes to things they love. If yours fall into either of those categories pick up Yummy Yummy or Magical Adventure instead.

Summary: An oldie but very goody
Review: I didn't buy this one for a long time because of the bad reviews, but I'm glad I finally did. Yes, the Wiggles look strange, especially Anthony's hairstyles, and the costumes are clearly prehistoric, but it's basically a fun video!
The songs are catchy, the children are a major part of the fun, some of the songs are educational (at least a little), and they have great dance numbers too.
Boy did they need Paul Paddick (now Captain Feathersword) back then. The three early Captains just don't cut it (sorry Anthony)
Highly recommended for Wiggles fans, especially younger kids.

Summary: Great Show, Very Poor DVD
Review: My two daughters (ages 3 and 18 mos.) love the Wiggles and this particular program is loads of fun. Both girls dance, jump around and have a blast to this program. However, I was extremely disappointed with the DVD transfer. Hit Entertainment obviously doesn't think parents care a hoot about DVD production values on kids titles. There are no menus (the video simply begins when the tape loads), no features (a song menu would have been the least we could expect), and finally--and this is absolute rock bottom--the chapter stops are completely random, often coming in the middle of a song or skit. I realize this is an old tape being re-released on DVD, but someone should have at least put the chapter stops at logical points throughout the program and given viewers a menu so that we could get to our kids' favorite spots quickly. It's a shame that such little care was put into the DVD production values for such a good program. It is worth owning because my girls love the program, but from a DVD standpoint, it is a big disappointment.

Summary: The're Adults On The Cover-But Teenagers In Video.
Review: I think the reason why the Wiggles and friends were teenagers in this video...it's because it was maybe re-copied in 2000, orginally from 1995.

If the Wiggles were once teenagers, I'd imagine their four friends were teenagers too. Dorothy the Dinosaur is five dinosaur moths old whenever I'm using my imagination, Captain Feathersword whose not played by Paul Paddick in this video, is seventeen and so on.

The Wiggles sing "DOROTHY'S DANCE PARTY" now in both-teenagehood and adulthood.

Summary: Two excellent DVD's bundled together
Review: These are both excellent. If you are new to the Wiggles and are not sure where to begin, this would be a great place to start. Dance Party is much more 'primitive' from a production stand point (we see too much of Anthony's chest hair) but the songs are great and the kids are having lots of fun. Yummy Yummy is much more polished (lighting, makeup) and the songs are also first rate. Our son (17 months) lives and breathes these videos, but even after many many showings his parents still like them too and that's the best part. Another comment I read talked about the sound and picture quality on the Dance Party VHS tape; all I can say is that it is fine on the DVD.

Summary: get over it!!!
Review: This movie combo. is great. It shows the Wiggles at their best at two different points in their career. Sure, the production for Wiggly Party was less expensive, but as far as music and scits go, it is a much more entertaining video than all of their recent stuff. As far as kids being freaked out by seeing younger, less polished Wiggles, GET OVER IT!!! Change is a part of life. Are you not going to show your children pictures of you when you were younger because it might freak them out??? In addition, the Wiggles have changed Dorothy, Wags, and Henry in their newer productions, yet no one seems to notice that or be bothered by it. My child isn't even two yet and Loves BOTH of these movies. This is the Wiggles at their best!

Summary: WARNING-NO PAUL PADDICK
Review: My son loves Captain Feathersword and I bought this video when he was home sick with the flu. He was sooooo upset that Captain Feathersword was played by someone else (Anthony or one of his brothers). I didn't think the video was that bad--I liked the songs at least. But I wouldn't have bought it if I knew Captain Feathersword didn't appear. And I did check the date on the packaging to see how old it was. The packaging says 2000 but it was made in 1995. I do feel cheated and my son was very disappointed. He hasn't once asked to see it again.
