Summary: A definite Disney Cheapie
Review: All of the cartoons in this DVD are Disney classics. When I was little, we had these cartoons in their original anthology form, when the Mirror-Mirror of Snow White was narrating the whole thing. We watched it faithfully every Halloween as a sort of 'tradition'. Then we grew up and kinda fell out of it, but a recent nostalgia for the days of old inspired me to get this DVD.

All of the classics remain the same; they are truly golden. BUT, the host's narration and the resulting theme thereof were very very cheap. The vocal acting was awful and the plots were not what you would expect from a Disney production. That is why it's so cheap. But if you long for the Halloween classics that you thought were lost just like I did, go ahead and get this movie; it's a good buy. If you're buying it for your children, it's not a bad buy either. Who knows? Maybe it will become their Halloween 'tradtion', just like it was for me back in the day. ^_^ And believe me, those are memories that you look back on with fondness and longing.

Summary: Don't expect too many villians!
Review: Apart from a few brief moments you won't see any of the classic villians. I am glad I got the VHS frist to check out the what I am going to see before I buy the DVD.I can tell you I feel so cheated that I am sure there won't be any Mickey's Mouse House of Villians DVD on my shelf.

Summary: HUGE DISASPPOINTMENT
Review: As a fan of the great Disney villains, I eagerly looked toward this release, thinking I could see my favorites in one film. Well, WRONG! This is nothing but a series of Mickey/Donald/Goofy shorts strung together with a Halloween motif. You see the Disney villains on the front and back of the DVD cover, inside on the insert, but hardly in the movie! I don't know why the Disney folks allowed this sham to take place. If they wanted to release these Mickey, et al shorts, do it without the idea of the Disney villains. There is one scene where the villains sing a Broadway-like number, but it is too brief to be enjoyable. Maleficent, Cinderella's stepmother, etc are all relegated to just scenes where they sit in a cocktail-like sitting watching these mini-cartoons of Mickey and his friends. Knowing the likes of Maleficent, etc, they wouldn't stand for such goings-on! This is like watching Disney Animation 101 with the guise of Advanced Disney Masterpiece. AVOID!

Summary: Wonderful compilation of old and new...
Review: Buy this, either VHS or DVD, but buy it! The theme is Halloween, and the setting is Mickey's House of Mouse, with excellent new animated shorts, very funny and beautifully rendered, and the old classic shorts, with Huey, Dewey and Louey getting back at "Unca Donald" for tricking them on Halloween, with the help of Witch Hazel and her flying broom. Then "Lonesome Ghosts" with Donald, Goofy and Mickey as the original "Ghost Busters" being called to the "Old McShiver Mansion" to rid the house of ghosts, ... Then there is one with Donald and the nephews in a big house during a thunderstorm when a gorilla breaks into their house...great stuff. In between the old classics are new and very amusing shorts with great colors and details; I so enjoyed this I bought the DVD AND the VHS. Decide for yourself, see it and then you will see what a great tape it is and how perfect for Halloween or anytime when you want a good old-fashioned scare without too much trauma! I absolutely LOVED it, and you will too.

Summary: The Most Disgusting
Review: I cannot believe that Disney would release this mess! The movie is full of old clips from cartoons that we've seen 100 times before, and the Villains are shown for about 5 minutes throughout the whole movie. And when they show the villains, there's no magic or anything. They are running from Mickey because he has on the Sorcerer's hat. There are about 8 Halloween cartoons throughout, and they do not include any villains. They show stuff like Huey, Dewey, and Louie scaring Donald on Halloween, and I know that everyone has seen the one Halloween cartoon where the characters mentioned above meet a real witch on Halloween and she helps Donald's nephews put a spell on him. Huey, Dewey, and Louie are dressed like a devil, a ghost and a witch. I know that EVERYONE has seen that cartoon before, yet, it's the first cartoon they show on this terrible dvd. Do NOT buy it. Save your money for something worthwhile. It seems as if Disney never has good "straight to video" releases- I guess that's why they go straight to video.

Summary: Not What I Expected
Review: I expected a little more out of Disney, but with their track record lately, I don't know why I was surprised at their lack of creativity. I thought this would be more centered around the villians trying to take over the "House of Mouse", but instead it was mostly old Disney cartoons with small clips of the villians plotting a take over in between. Definately NOT a DVD worth buying. My son begged me to purchase it, but I rented instead. My daughter, who was 7 year old at the time, was terribly bored throughout the movie. The only reason I rated it with 2 stars instead of just 1 was because my 6 year old son enjoyed it, however he has expressed absolutely NO interest at all in seeing it again. If you really want to see it, go for it, but I advise you to rent it first before buying.

Summary: Way Better Than You'd Expect
Review: I know, straight-to-video.... But don't judge to quickly. I really enjoyed it (and more importantly so did my 4 year old). The bad guys didn't "win" long enough to be upsetting & there were tons of great disney shorts throughout. I was very hesitant to buy it, but am SO glad we did :) One note, this seems to be a Halloween movie (all the shorts deal with Halloween). Additionally, if you had problems playing the Rolie Polie Olie DVD, you may have problems with this one as well -- but you can play the movie fine if you go to the chapter selection part & just start with scene 1/opening credits (you don't miss anything & the close-captioning still works). Hope this helps -- I highly recommend this one!

Summary: Walt is rolling in his grave
Review: I rented this DVD because I thought a movie where all the Disney villains get together might be interesting. Boy was I ever WRONG! Here's the story: The Disney villains go to the House of Mouse to watch movies. At midnight they kick Mickey out and watch more movies. BORING! There's absolutely NO plot. You hardly even see the villains because most of this movie is filled with past and present Disney short films. And it's very easy to tell which short is old and which is new. The old films were actually drawn well. I don't know what happened to the Disney staff between then and now. It's like all the artists forgot how to draw. All the new animation in this DVD is very cheap. The mouths never match up to the voice. This DVD is so cheap that they even stole comedy lines from "The Simpsons"! HONEST! I was expecting an epic adventure where the Disney villains get together and take over the earth or something and it's up to Mickey to stop them. Instead I get the Disney villains sitting down to watch movies. BORING! I guess if I want to see Disney characters done well I have to buy a copy of "Kingdom Hearts" for the Playstation 2. The only reason why this game wasn't screwed up is because Squarsoft made it. If you're a true Disney fan buy "Kingdom Hearts" and AVOID "Mickey's House of Villains."

Summary: Another "cheapie" is right!
Review: I waited months for this DVD to come out, thinking that maybe Disney would begin to realize the demand for more villain entertainment. I was really disappointed. There were a few really old cartoons that I had not seen since I was a kid but other than that, it was really cheesy with no real story or anything inventive. They basically slapped together some old toons and put a new label on it.
