Summary: Great for the comic book fans
Review: This DVD is right out of the comic book. From the mention of the Hob Goblin to the Green Goblin tossing exploding pumpkins at Spidey. It has four episodes and we all know the first one all too well: Peter Parker gets bit and his uncle gets killed, etc. The next two episodes are great followed by what I would classify as a time filler in the fourth episode. Overall rating would have been a "5" had it not been for the weak last episode. Dr. Octopus, Green Goblin, and Kingpin are just how I remember them from my early years reading the comic. Recommended for super hero comic fans and, of course, Marvel fans of all ages.

Summary: 80 Minutes of Web-Slinging Action!
Review: This DVD seems to be a little incomplete. The reason why is that there is 5 episodes in the Origins of our Fathers saga (it might be similarly named). On this disc it has episodes 2-5. But hey, the DVD is very well made. Each episode is well-remastered with good Dolby Digital sound and great digitally mastered picture. The features include interviews, introductions, original 1967 "Origin of Spider-Man" cartoon, with special Stan Lee intro. The DVD has cool artwork showing Spider-Man's head reflecting the Green Goblin. It's a little hard to understand, because of episode I not being included. Oh, well, maybe Buena Vista will release a longer version.

Summary: Ok these are good......more please!!!
Review: This is no doubt the best Spiderman animated series ever. This dvd sure brought back memories of how much I've missed this show. It was a lot better than the series that followed (Spiderman Unlimited I think it was called) which didn't last long, now I hear MTV might have a new version soon. I highly doubt that will compare to this. My only disapointment with is that the show finale ended pretty week. Instead of us getting Spiderman having a big battle to get Mary Jane back he enters an alternate reality where he meets his creater Stan Lee.....give me a break. Well anyway there's 4 episodes included on the disc, including an episode from the 60's cartoon series. All 4 are entertaining, they first 2 features Spidey battling the Doc Oct, the 3rd has his first outing with the Green Goblin and the 4th is entertaining but doesn't feature a super villain which is some-what disapointing. Instead it has him facing a gang who battles Spiderman with a new weapon technology. Although this dvd surely gets you ready for the movie, it leaves you wanting to see more episodes of this great show.

Summary: A Brief Introduction to Spider Man.
Review: This video contains four cartoons from the 1990's Spider Man series that aired on the Fox Kids network. The four episodes are parts 2-5 of the "Sins of Our Fathers" story arc. Part Two gives the origins of Spider Man while Part Four illustrates the rise of the Green Goblin. The final part of the tape includes the 1967 cartoon "The Origins of Spider-Man". The animation is really bad (after all it was 1967), but is worth watching just to hear that great theme song a couple of times. A decent animated collection that works well as an introduction to who Spider Man is.

Review: This video includes 5 Spider Man adventures. One of them is form the sixties and 4 from the the 90's. As I grew up I was a fan of Super Man and Spider Man comic books, but I never really got into them, but when I heard this movie was coming out I knew I had to see it. This movie portrays the great works of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko who made Spider-Man into an ever-popular comic book while making Marvel Comics famous. My favorite adventure on this movie is "The origin of Spider-Man" which this year's Spider man movie is based on. A bite by a rare breed of spiders at the Columbia University science lab gives Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) great vision and a perfect body. He also is also given great agility to jump form large skyscrapers and spin webs from his wrist. Then he assumes the identity of Spider Man to fight off the evil Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), that terrorizes the city with a glider that drops several bombs at a time. Spider-Man nearly loses his life while saving the life of his girlfriend, people who are being threatened to be killed by the Green Goblin, and many innocent people who he doesn't even know. "The origin of Spider-Man":
Tobey Maguire, with the emotional lead role overcomes the tragic death of his beloved Uncle Ben, growth trauma's, doubts, sorrows, and fear, to save lives and become the city icon. Willem Dafoe's hystericals and split-personality suffered after a lab-experiment gone wrong make him be a friend one minute and the evil Green Goblin the next. Kirsten Dunst fits the role nicely as Peter's love Mary Jane. Even characters with smaller parts like Peter's Uncle Ben (Cliff Robertson), and his friend Harry (James Franco) are amazing. Sam Raimi's big-screen version of the Marvel Comic's good-vs-evil Spider-Man comics is portrayed by outstanding acting, eye-popping special effects, great sound and much more. If you are a Spider-Man comic book fan or a fan of the movie, this is a movie you have to check out.

Summary: Very, Very Disappointing
Review: When I got this DVD, I was hoping for the classic '60s episodes, not the techno '90s which are so dumbed down and PC as to be essentially unwatchable. As for the introductions from Stan Lee, I found that after twenty seconds I would just fast forward through them. My seven year old daughter loved the origin of spider-man episode from the '60s and just wasn't interested in the '90s episodes. To be fair, the interactive menu of the different villians was well done. The origin episode is the only reason why I didn't give the DVD 1 star and is the only reason I can think of buying it. The 60's styles, clunky dialog and wooden animation are somehow much warmer and inviting than the tech'd up '90s episodes. Hopefully somebody will pull out the old episodes and put them all on DVD - I'd buy it in a New York minute!

Review: Yikes! What have they done with modern Spidey cartoons? The four "modern" animated Spidey eps on this disc are terrible. They are paced so quickly that my head spun when watching it. The stories are not so bad but they try to squeeze so much into them that it is pure sensory overload. Slow it down guys and tell the story with confidence, not speed. This contrast is most evident when viewing the original Spidey cartoon from the 1960's, which, while technically inferior in animation, had so much more character, a better theme song, interesting angles and perspectives and those great deep ink colors reminiscent of a real comic book. I'd buy all of the original Spidey cartoons from the 60's on DVD but not this 90's stuff. Bring back the classic Spidey cartoons!
