Summary: Laugh out loud and a moral, too
Review: I just adore the Veggie Tales tapes. These guys have the same simple-minded humor I enjoyed and engaged in as a teenager. It's like never leaving college. This episode with the ducky is one of the best, and a very interesting way to introduce the story of David and Bathsheba to kids (definitely without the sex part). This time King George (aka David) covets his neighbor's Ducky (not his wife). Catchy songs, funny plot, all in all, a great time. I also laughed out loud with the "low-budget" skit done by the Squash at the beginning. Oh, my 27-month-old likes Veggie Tales, too...especially the Ducky.

Summary: This is so much fun!
Review: I live in South Africa and can't find Veggietales on DVD anywhere so I took a chance and bought this one from Amazon.com. What a winner! My 3 year old is totally hooked. He sings all the songs and knows the story line off by heart now. I love the humour which is funny for adults too but it's all good clean fun which is rare these days. Larry's "Endangered Love" silly song is one of the funniest things I have seen in years and we all had that song stuck in our heads for weeks but it is such a funny song I didn't mind a bit.

I was so impressed with how Big Ideas took a sensitive story - David and Bathsheba -and translated it for kids. They took out the R-rated stuff but got the message across very well.

I have since ordered more Veggietales and they have been just as successful. I will continue to buy Veggietales as long as they continue making them.

Summary: A great episode
Review: I really liked this episode. It's not my favorite Veggietales episode, but it is a great one. Archibald tries to run the show for once and is frustrated as things don't go his way. Kids learn how to share.

Summary: This is a good movie
Review: My kids love veggietales. We own them, the libary owns them, they show them at the church during Sunday School. THere was even one little boy that was afraid of the movie about the rumor weed, so he'd hide in the nursery and look through the grate in the door (and watch the movie through the grate!)

This a cute, great, funny movie for kids.

Summary: Show starts off a little slow but is still loveable!
Review: The story of King George and the Ducky may start off slow with the Jimmy & Jerry Gourd bit, but I've grown to love this video and the message it portrays. It is the story of of King George and his pursuit of someone else's duckie. (Adults may relate it to the story of David and Bathsheba.) The retelling of the parable (by Melvin, portrayed by Pa Grape, to King George) of the man with many sheep vs. the man with only one beloved pet lamb as originally told by Nathan the Prophet to Kind David after the "crime" was committed in the bible is virtually unchanged and still packs a punch, even in an animated video. The story is classic silly Veggie Tales, but the underlying truth is powerful.

Summary: Show starts off too slow!
Review: The story of King George and the Ducky really is a great story and is entertaining. The silly song Endangered Love is one of my all time favorites; HOWEVER -

The video starts with Jerry and Jimmy Gourd pretending to be Bob and Larry (wearing cardboard cutouts to look like them). They introduce they're own little goofy skit about selfishness. This part of the video is cute and mildy funny, but it just falls flat after a while - which I guess it was the intent since the Gourds simply cannot replace Bob and Larry.

I'm am not saying that this video is bad. It has good qualities. You just may find that very young children may lose their attention after the first few minutes.

Summary: Our daughter loves this video!
Review: This Veggie Tales video is our 16 month old daughters favorite. It has all of her favorite things: Bob, ducks, baths, hats (Bob's toupe), and peas. She is too young to understand the moral to the story just yet but as she gets older we appreciate the positive influence of the Veggie Tales series. Good thing we bought the DVD rather than the VHS because a tape would have been worn out by now.
