Summary: Excellent Movie!!!!!
Review: I watched this movie recently on pay-per-view. This movie is up thee as probably the best I have seen. This movie was a excellent, clean, family movie.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A wonderful movie!
Review: My Dog Skip is poignant, sweet & heart-warming. Due to an intense "midnight in the cemetary" scene that is an integral part of the story, I would not recommend it for anyone under 6. As an adult, its multi-layering enriches the movie experience. For a kid, it is a good story, entertainingly told.

It does deal with important life issues in relationships, race, public perception & maturity. In skimming over the racial aspects though, I did wonder what was in the book that got left out.

It's not too often a movie comes along & makes you think about things that seem to "just happen" to us, as well as the choices we make. Also, with the richness of this movie, I want to track down the book to enjoy the original thought processes at a slower pace. Altogether, a thoroughly enjoyable movie I would highly recommend. Enjoy!!!

Summary: Entertaining
Review: The dogs that played Skip absolutely MADE this film. Their antics and stunts had me smiling and laughing throughout. Frankie Muniz (from Fox's MALCOM IN THE MIDDLE) plays Willie Morris, a boy growing up during World War II. His overprotective father is brilliantly played by Kevin Bacon. Luke Wilson does a good job of portraying Willie's next door neighbor, Dink Jenkins.

Willie is a shy boy with no friends but the scholar athlete next door that's going off to war. Receiving Skip for his 9th birthday helps him cope with his loneliness. The dog also attracts other kids and he eventually makes friends. This is a great movie for kids, but adults will enjoy it, too. The kids will enjoy the antics of the dog and his interaction with Willie while adults will appreciate some of the themes that are dealt with: courage, growing up, and the aging of a family pet. All in all, a very enjoyable film.

Summary: (Yawn)
Review: The only question this little, kinda likeable movie really poses is, uhh, why? It does evoke a certain nostalgia for WW II era Mississippi (again, why?) But poses no questions and provides no answers. It just sorta ambles along genially, and just sorta ends. Fortunately, it does manage to avoid "cutesy" (no mean feat for a picaresque tale about an adorable boy and an adorable doggy). But it's all kinda pointless. Pass the bourbon.

Summary: Great family film
Review: My Dog Skip was an incredible movie; easily the best I've seen all year. This film was more than just a boy and a dog story tho; it's a lesson about life. Frankie Muniz was perfect as Willie Morris---he exudes boyhood innocence like none other. You can tell they filmed this some time ago; he's a lot taller in the later episodes of Malcolm in the Middle. Kevin Bacon gets a high five also; he was great as the overprotective father.A word of warning to younger children---the ending is very emotional. When Frankie was crying over the possible loss of Skip, my own eyes watered up big time.

Summary: The Next Classic!
Review: I loved this movie, it should be the next classic. It stars cute 14 yr old Frankie Muniz of the popular fox tv show Malcom In The Middle. He plays a 9 yr old birthday boy in the movie. Its a good movie full of plenty of tears and happiness, based on a true story.

Summary: A very touching story!
Review: This picture was good, and I liked most of it, but there were some quirks with the picture. For instance:

- You wouldn't want to recommend this to children under 7, because when these boys take Willy to that cemetery and told him about the myth of the old witch who was buried there, and the illegal boozers hiding illegal alcohol inside an empty tomb. That just wasn't needed. I was rather displeased. The last few minutes were pretty touching. I almost cried! I never expected this movie to be what I thought it was going to be.

Summary: Hollywood can make still make some good films afterall!
Review: No eye-popping digital effects, no needless violence, no dirty language or sex- just a wonderful movie about love and loyalty between a boy and his dog. "My Dog Skip" isn't some cutesy kid's flick, all sugar-coated and such. This film has guts, and is quite powerful. Harry Conick Jr's narration in the film is superb and will bring you to tears itself. If you've seen the movies "A Christmas Story" or "Angels in the Outfield" and enjoyed them, then you will love "My Dog Skip". Highly recommended.

Summary: My Dog Skip DVD Review: Highly recommended!
Review: I didn't watch the movie in the theater because I figured that it's one of those children movies and I probably won't enjoy it. After reading about three reviews on Amazon.com and the good reviews from the viewers (dog lovers) out there, I had to give it a try.

My wife and myself watched the movie with our two dogs sitting next to us. We love our dogs but I wanted to watch the movie not because of the story of a boy and his dog (I could have watched "Ben") but because I wanted to see this touching story and the relationship one has with their pets, that's what I was interested in.

After we were done watching, we were both in tears. I looked at my two dogs and it reminded me of how much these pets are a part of our lives. The storyline of a kid who is bullied and how his dog helps him through his young life and eventually gains friends to the last 15 minutes which will nearly shatter your heart. An emotional roller coaster this movie turned out to be.

Ok...as for the DVD, the audio is mostly dialogue but the rear speakers are used pretty well. Especially during the baseball game. The video is clear and the colors are good. As for the special features, you get two feature-length audio commentaries. One with Frankie Muniz and animal trainer Mathilde DeCagney and the other with director Jay Russell. It was cool to see the deleted scenes and part of me wishes they left it in and I wish the director elaborated why he removed them from the movie. And of course, the ever loveable trailer and scene selections which I don't count as special features (all DVD's should have those).

All in all, "My Dog Skip" is a wonderful movie. I recommend this movie to all dog lovers. Those who dislike canines or any pets would probably not watch this movie anyway... Highly recommended for the dog loving fans out there and remember to have the tissue box nearby.
