Summary: Everything Shrek couldn't be
Review: While shrek was a cruel and boring and often unfunny movie, ice age lives up to its expectations and soars beyond them. regardless of what everyone says about the animation, animation doesn't make a movie, but the animation in this movie is good enough regardless. John leguizamo is hilarious in the movie, and had me in stitches the entire time. unlike shrek, this movie had a ton of heart( ovbiously for the kids) showing animals risking thier lives to save each other, and also to help others. the only downside of this movie is ray romano should never do animation instead, his voice is sooo annoying. otherwies great movie, and scrat kicks ...!! he was a very welcome addition to this movie. also, i loved how they showed the extinction of the dodo, that one that fell off the cliff was "the last female!"

Summary: Good Family Movie
Review: Besides the fact the sloths characteristics annoyed me a bit and the child was just another way to start a script I enjoyed the movie. I have to say the squirrel definently made the film. I was subdued with torrents of laughter and I would prefer this for a family viewing.

Summary: Just plain funny!
Review: This movie is absolutely hilarious! Some people may not like the comedy since most is slapstick but I found it hilarious. There is a little more than just comedy in here, however. The story is pretty touching when you're not laughing your head off.

Basically this movie is about a mammoth, a sloth, and a saber-tooth tiger taking a human baby back to his family.

For the humor side of the movie, I can't really remember any lines from the characters that were funny; it was mostly the visual scenes that were hilarious. Since most of the main characters didn't do many visual hilarities, the squirrel Scrat, a minor character, was the funniest character because everything he did was visual.

Now here comes the touching side of the movie. There is a cave scene that shows a tragic part of the mammoth's past that was pretty sad. The ending can get pretty touching too. And before all of that is a part when the kid learns how to walk and that, to me, is pretty cute.

One more thing to note are the pretty nice graphics. They aren't excellent but they are appealing.

That is all I have to say. Happy watching!

Summary: LOVE THIS MOVIE!!
Review: With voices from Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Dennis Leary and Jack Black...what else could you ask for?!

I LOVE this movie!! Absolutely can't get enough of it! I was able to watch bits and pieces on HBO one night and thought it was so funny that I bought the VHS last night! The tape I bought is the "Special Edition" with Scrat's very own short movie! I watched Scrat's movie 3 times and laughed harder and harder each time. And I watched Ice Age 2-1/2 times...I fell asleep after 2am. :)

Ice Age is a wonderfully animated movie with great jokes! I kind of think this is a movie more for adults because of the humor...nothing bad for children, but great hidden gags that adults will get a kick out of. Kids will love this too! I cried at the end, so get your tissues ready.

I hope they make more movies like this! A++++

Summary: I don't get it...
Review: There are a couple of things wrong with this movie. For one, am I the only one who thinks the animation in this movie looks cheap compared to even Pixar's first efforts? The mammoth hair, the tiger's face, the lava, the snow... where's the detail? It looks like it was spray-painted on. The sloth and the squirrel didn't look too bad, though. I guess Pixar has spoiled us to some extent.

For another, the story and plot are riddled with cliche, convention, contrivances, and slapstick. The target audience for this is probably something like 3-4 year olds, not adults. They won't notice the substandard animation or lack of originality.

The squirrel was without a doubt my favorite character, especially during the charade bit, but he played only a small role. The behavior of the child is almost a carbon copy of the one from Monsters Inc, only not even close to being as cute and adorable as the original.

Summary: Hilarious
Review: This is not really a kid's movie - it's got far too much going on to be grouped with kiddy videos
It's fresh, it's original, the humor is first rate. I'm not a Ray Romano fan by any stretch of the imagination, neither do I particularly care for John Leguizamo, but somehow despite my personal likes and dislikes, I loved this movie.
The only animation flaw is in the humans, but maybe this was intentional. Plus, you really gotta love Scrat.
An inspired production.

Summary: I loved the squirrel
Review: Ice Age appealed to me. I first saw a small portion of Ice Age, at Staples, while my wife was shopping for a scanner. I enjoy watching the sit com, "Every one loves Ramon" and found Ray Romano egocentric humor funny. In many ways, "Ice Age" seemed like an "Land before Time" journey where a mastodon, slothe, and saber tooth are in search of the great valley. The theme is a family united. After a lion raid on the human village, the mother dies and the child is rescued by a slothe and mastodon. The lion king scar villian wants to bring down the mastodon and eat the man child. A plot to trap the masotodon in a valley passage because the strategy. It gave the director a chance to spend an hour taking us on their journey. Your glad when the journey is over. The man child has a Monster Inc quality and at times seems as adorable as "Bo". The Do Do bird fight was hilarous and the humor sutle enough too appeal to adults. The squirrel injected humor in the film reducing the time drag at times. Outside of the symbolic transformation of Diego into a loving Saber-Tooth and desire to make the film parallel the "Three Godfathers" - the film was capitivating. Why does the Saber tooth have to become the good guy? The story could have had an more appealing ending with the mastodon defeating the pack and delivering the baby to the father in a more dramatic manner. Wait second, wasn't that the Lion King ending? The director could have shaved off 30 minutes and put 30 minutes of squirrel humor. I loved the squirrel. Pixar animation is amazing.

Summary: better and worse
Review: this is a strange film. it's both better and worse than some of the other animateds. there's more laugh-out-loud humor in 'ice age' than even the best animateds, like 'toy story 2' or 'monsters, inc'. but in between the laughs, there's too much dead time - the story almost dies when there isn't some slaptstick stunt. the graphics aren't so hot, either. i mean, what can you do with ice?! 'ice age' is worth a look, for both adults and kids, but don't expect another 'toy story 2'.
