Summary: More like Dry Ice
Review: Twentieth Century-Fox has once again made an attempt to break into the major animation racket with this winsome comedy, following in the footsteps of two commercial disasters, Anastasia and Titan A.E.. Now moving into computer animation, the studio probably has a big hit on their hands but it's nothing worth admiring. Whereas Anastasia had its beautiful widescreen photography and incredible musical score, and Titan A.E. had its imaginative settings and rock music soundtrack, Ice Age really has nothing to it that sets it apart from the rest of its crowd: the basic plot, that of three (male) prehistoric animals who come across a (male) Cro-Magnon baby and have to return it to its (seemingly all-male) herd before the titular geological era decimates them all (though with the lack of female company for all of them you begin to wonder if maybe it wasn't the weather that took them off the planet), is an easy buddy-buddy rehash of Pixar's latest offerings, most notably similar to Monsters, Inc.. On top of that, the animation is well achieved but nowhere the eye-popping work that was featured in the aforementioned Disney hit or previous wonders like A Bug's Life or the Toy Story movies. There are laughs (though not aplenty) and the kids will enjoy it, while anyone older than ten will find the blend of slapstick humour and touching camaraderie to be awkward and hapharzadly thrown together. Everyone else will find themselves annoyed at this continued theme in films that sees a man's discovery of his emotional side to be equal in historical importance to the invention of the printing press. The voicework features such celebrities as Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary and Jack Black.

Summary: Excellent Children's Movie, but Entertaining for Adults Too!
Review: Despite the inevitable comparisons to other animated features like Shrek, Monster's Inc., and Toy Story, I liked Ice Age. Many have criticized it as being derivative of the other pictures, particularly Shrek, but I disagree. The characters are well-developed and somewhat more interesting in Shrek, and the story is slightly more entertaining. The animation is superb, and the Scrat character appears from time to time to keep this movie from taking itself too seriously or becoming monotonous.

The characters are well-voiced, with Ray Romano providing the voice of Manny the Mammoth, John Leguizamo doing Sid the Sloth, and Denis Leary voicing Diego the Sabre Toothed Tiger. Leguizamo, whose comedy I've never particularly cared for, does a first rate job with his character. Romano sounds like he's going through the motions, but I suspect that's what his character is supposed to be doing.

For those who need some basis of comparison, I would rate Ice Age as slightly better than Shrek and definitely on par with Monster's Inc. The humor occasionally might seem to be a bit of a reach for younger viewers but this is what gives the movie staying power with audiences of all ages. One or two have criticized its "bad humans" message, which is nothing more than a one time reference to hunting. It never becomes cloying or beats the viewer to death with the message as in Spirit, which was released around the same time. This is a good family movie that should be a seminal part of any collection.

Summary: Hilarious
Review: A really fun movie for the kids, or an entire family. It has grown-up humor for the grown ups to enjoy and at the same it teaches values to kids.

Summary: Ice Age is quite good.
Review: Ice Age was a very good movie. I would suggest it however on DVD because of some great special features. I loved how three unlikely friends come together and work together to meet their goal of returing the baby to its family. Not to mention that it is quite funny and an animated film viewers of any age can enjoy. I would recommend this film to anyone who loves computer animation!

Summary: gets better with Age
Review: I wasn't impressed with this movie when I saw it at the theatres, but it does get better with age (much like "Everybody Loves Raymond").

Summary: Great Movie!
Review: Of all the DVD's we received for Christmas, this one is my 3 & 5 year old sons favorite. It's not too scary and quite entertaining. The voices of the animals are funny and the overall movie teaches a good lesson. Highly recommend it!

Summary: A great story for all ages
Review: Ice Age is a wonderful fill about an ADORABLE human baby and three wonderful animals' quest to return him to his family. One of its themes (yes, it really did have themes, even though it was animated and funny) was that babies should not be blamed for the sins of their parents -- and one of the animals was willing to set aside the most awful injustice imaginable (the killing of his wife and child -- animated in cave paintings and one of the truly most heartbreaking scenes I had EVER seen) in order to save this little baby and return it to the people who had deprived him of his own family. Most of all, it was about how three unlikely friends came together to do the right thing, despite the unfiarness in the world. Oh how I love this film. I am still enjoying the memory of having seen it now.

Summary: Ice Age
Review: Ice Age is a great family comedy. It stars Ray Romano, Dennis Leary and John Leguizamo and the 3 are hilarious in this one. It's easily right there on the level with other soon to be great computer animated movies like SHREK, TOY STORY and TOY STORY 2, A BUG'S LIFE and MONSTERS Inc. This is one the whole family should not miss!

The story starts during the big Migration before the ice age and Sid (Leguizamo) the prehistoric Sloth with a speech impediment has been left behind by his family because he over sleeps. In an attempt to find his family he runs into Manny (Romano) the Wooly Mammoth. After unsuccessfully trying to get rid of Sid, Manny and Sid stumble upon a human baby.

The 2 then plan to bring the child back to the humans but they'll need help, so enter Diego (Leary) the Saber Tooth Tiger who seems a little shady. It's now a race for the 3 to find the humans, give them the baby and dodge Diego's evil pack of Tigers and along the way realize how great it is to have your friends close by.

This is truly a great movie for the entire family. It's very sweet and touching and of course with the 3 stars of this movie, you can bet that there are a lot of wise cracks. The animation is also extremely good. It's very colorful and very vivid and all in all, looks great! I really can't think of any bad points to this movie because I thought that it was that good.

A very deserving 5 Star movie! I highly recommend this movie to any family and even a pretty good movie for everyone else. Also check out the other movies I mentioned as well, SHREK, TOY STORY and TOY STORY 2, A BUG'S LIFE and MONSTERS Inc. Check out all of these, trust me you won't be disappointed!
