Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: I really liked this movie, and I really want to add it to my (and my daughter's) collection. I just want it on DVD! I don't want to buy any more vhs tapes.
Rating: Summary: This is the real thing Review: Get this video and see and hear how great the movie is. They butchered this movie with English language dubbing. This movie is a work of art. Once you see the real Japanese version then you can never go back. I hope they release Castle in the Sky with subtitle also.
Rating: Summary: Kiki's Delivery Service Review: I just love this film,it's probably one of my favorite animated film of all time.It starts out with a thirteen year old witch going for training in another part of the country. It ends being a great animated feature. If you don't have a copy of this film get one, because you will not be sorry. You will end up loving this movie and love all of the director other works also. This film is Phil Hartman's last performance.
Rating: Summary: My First Hayomiyzaki film Review: I know my spelling is awful but at least you have an idea of whom I'm refering to. This movie rocks, I can watch it with my kid siblings and have a clear conscience.
Rating: Summary: Don't see this version! Review: Wait until Disney comes out with a subtitled DVD. Or import a copy fro Japan. Or get a bootleg version. Howevermuch you might enjoy Disney's edited vesion of this flick, you're only cheating yourself of its full potential. At the request of a reader, I've decided to add the following: Parents, your children will love this. Nobody has made a cartoon this good since Walt Disney died. Don't worry about Kiki being a witch. This movie has about as much of a chance of turning your child to witchcraft as the Wizard of Oz. If you can stand to wait though, just rent the tape and hold out for the DVD. You owe it to yourselves (and I daresay your children) to hear this in the original tongue and, more importantly, with the original music.
Rating: Summary: A beautiful, heartwarming story for the whole family! Review: As a fan of Japanese animation in general, I own alot of anime movies that are not child friendly. Being the mother of 2, I wanted to find an anime that would expose my children to the beauty and wonder of Japanese style animation, but with a story that had appropriate content for thier ages. Kiki's Delivery Service does that. It's a wonderful story about a young girl who happens to be a witch. It's about how she must discover herself, through the kindness of others, and find that her strength and confidence come from within, not from her magic. This is a truely magical story, with stunning animation. If you've never seen the original Japanese version, you won't miss anything. Having never seen the original version, my children and I have fallen in love with this movie, and never tire of watching it. And as an added bonus, unlike American made animated flicks which only give you an hour and a half, Kiki's Delivery Service is a full two hours of quality entertainment! Enjoy!!!
Rating: Summary: It was actually really good Review: This is meant as a children's movie, for one thing, but after renting it in the movie store to check it out, being a fan of Miyazaki's work (Esp. Princess mononoke), and anime in general, I found it really enjoyable. Its a good movie to just sit back and watch, real relaxing and a good movie to just enjoy the animation. The storyline is good, and you'll come to be hoping certain good things happen to certain characters and such more throughout the movie. Check it out.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie, Bad release Review: One of my favorite movies Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli have made. but the release that Buena Vista made is terrible. The original intro and end credits songs are gone and replaced with songs that have no rhythm. Not to mention the bad job on the dubbing. If your a fan of Miyazaki and wanna see this movie, dont buy this version, just buy a bootleg somewhere.
Rating: Summary: wonderfully cute Review: A wonderfully cute story about a young witch-in-training with a big heart and low self-confidence. Away from home as sort of a rite-of-passage, this little witch loses sight of her goals and then loses her powers. It's adorable fun for everyone, with a very warm-hearted ending. The dubbed version also marks one of the later performances by the late Phil Hartman, who does a great job as Kiki's scaredy black cat. It's a nicely animated film, with an even better story.
Rating: Summary: Sweet, but not Saccharine Review: Kiki manages to be captivating movie, with a realistic character that has faults and strengths. She is not a 'fairy tale princess' that can do no wrong, rather a young girl who learns from her mistakes and grows as a person.
