Summary: Harry Potter and the reviewer's words
Review: The Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone is a very different kind of moive. It goes along with the book very much so. I think you should read the book before you go see the movie. You will be able to follow along with the moive better if you do. So go see it I think you and all of your loved ones would love. But most of all your kids will love it. That's my review.

Summary: Wow! I loved Harry Potter!
Review: OK, let's get the facts straight: I'm an 17-year-old girl who's not a Harry Potter fanatic and just finished reading the first book (for the first time) just about a week ago before I saw the film. I was really surprised last night (on November 16th) when my mom took me and three of my best friends to see the Harry Potter movie on opening night as a birthday surprise from them (I do turn 18 on November 19th, by the way). We all thought it was excellent! Two of my friends who went to see it with me were both 19 and 20, and the other was 18, a month ahead of me. My 19-year-old friend is a Harry Potter fanatic (she has read all the books, knows everything about the Harry Potter series, and has all the Harry Potter fan merchandise). The rest of us, including my mom, had just read the first book. Anyway, we all ended up loving it!

We all thought the film went along pretty well with the book, although they did leave some parts of the book out in the film. I guess the reason for that was because of timing. After all, HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE was about 2 and 1/2 hours long! The actors who played all the characters were especially amazing and fun to watch. They had great chemistry and seemed to know what they were doing, even though some of the child actors didn't have a lot of previous acting experiences. Oh well, you have to start somewhere, I guess! The adult actors were really great, too. Nearly all the actors looked the way I had imagined the characters from the book. The film gave an eerie, mysterious, dark, and magical feel. The special effects, sound effects, and visual effects were just oustanding and incredible - you had to see it to believe it! My favorite sceen in the entire film was probably the big chess board sceen. My two favorite actors in the film are Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint (who plays Harry's best friend, Ron Weasley). I think they were the best! The directing, storyline, screenplay, and plot were all excellent, too.

Anyway, my whole point with this review is to GO SEE HARRY POTTER! You're going to love it. You can see it even without taking your kids but I recommend that you read the book first because if you go and see the film without ever reading the book, then you might not understand some stuff in it. I also urge you not to take children who are under the age of 7 - they might get scared at some parts. Plus, the film is just so long that they probably won't be able to sit for that long unless they are huge Harry Potter fans who would be able to sit quietly for that long just because they want to see the Harry Potter film. The film was amazing and outstanding! I strongly recommend the film to everybody who likes fantasy tales. Brilliantly done. I congradulate the entire cast and crew on a job well done and looking forward to the sequel and DVD which I am sure will have a ton of cool special features. A well-deserved A+! Go see HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE! :-)

Summary: It blew me away!
Review: This was an awesome movie! I own and have read all 4 books but it was a whole different ball game going to the movie. This had incredible special effects and leaves you wanting to watch more. I don't reccomend this to children under the age of 6, though. If you have read the book, you know that Professor Quirrel is the man with two faces. This is illustrated wonderfully, but would be a bit frightning to children. If you haven't read the book, go read it before you come or you will be lost with the story before the movie is half over! If you are wondering when the CHAMBER OF SECRETS will be in theaters, here is a clue. The cast has already started filming:)

Summary: The Best Movie I've Seen in a Long Time
Review: This movie was incredible! I felt like a child on Christmas morning. It is definitely the best movie I have seen in a very long time. The casting was amazing. The actors/actresses portrayed the characters just as I imagined in my head. The visual effects were incredible also. It made everything seem so real. The scenery looked so real, it was if there really was a Hogwarts or Diagon Alley. Chris Columbus did an excellent job of filming and I look forward to the next one!

Summary: Gilliam Would've done it better, in my Opinion
Review: Let me start out by saying that I think Monty Python veteran Terry Gilliam, one of the top choices for director of this film, would have made a great director for this. No offense to Chris Columbus, though I must say, I despised all the Home Alone films to this very day. Bicentenial man shouldn't be watched by anyone, it's that sappy. But, he managed to pull it off somehow, and what a great job he did. The effects were wonderful, especially that troll! Cleese was really funny as Nearly Headless Nick. Trust it to a true Python fan to list the cameos and python connections before the actual film, eh? Anyway, I hope that Rupert Grint and Emma Watson get great parts in other films later in their career, since they did so well in this. I hope that everyone enjoys this movie. Sure, I was a bit angry at the disappearance of one of my favorite characters, Peeves the poltergeist, but altogether, the film left me speechless. It's an amazing film. I'm glad it's doing so well. Just so I can let everyone know how much I truly wished Gilliam could've directed this, I'll add that the Wizard's Chess scene towards the end is incredibly similar to the Gilliam film Baron Munchausen, another wonderful film that fans of this film would enjoy, I'm sure.

Summary: A Magnificent Movie!!!
Review: When I first found out that they were going to make a movie out of the first book of the Harry Potter series, I really hoped they would take their time to make the movie positively reflect upon the book. WOW! I was totally blown away when I saw the movie!
The acting is about the best I've ever seen in a movie. They picked all the perfect people to play the parts (especially Daniel Ratcliff as Harry!). Hagrid (played by Robbie Coltrane) was awesome, he was totally as I pictured him in the book. The special effects were also astounding. This is one of the few movies where they don't make the special effects look too fake. The movie does stick to the book almost exactly, except for a few parts they had to cut out because of time. The movie is already 2 hours and 45 minutes long!!! I wouldn't have minded it being longer though!
If you are a diehard Harry Potter fan you HAVE to see this movie. It's really hard to put your emotions into words so I'll sum the whole movie up in 2 words: Absoulutely Astounding!!

Summary: A treat for Muggles and Magicians alike!
Review: >>A real treat for Muggles and Magicians alike. The actors were truly beautifuly selected, besides the actor for Malfroy. He didn't do so hot at some points, to me, but for the most part the actors have a gift.
>>It goes really HEAVY on special effects, and in most cases, something like this could get over-done, and in truth, it does, but it's magically crafted to fit every crucial element and non-crucial alike. There are many extras in the background, such as pictures moving, so keep an eye out for that (:
>>The music is supposedly done by John Williams, and he's doing pretty well, again, suceeding with Harry Potter. Creepy themes as well as happy melodies that should keep you tied to the screen if nothing else.
>>The characters' faces, etc, seem pretty accurate. I've always wanted to see the end scene in a movie. One person told me once that any movie spoils a book...I completely disagree.
>>I've never cared too much for Quidditch...it's much better on screen and much more interesting.
>>How the heck did they do that scene where they were running into platform 9 3/4??? Computer, somehow, again, it was magically crafted.
>>The whole thing goes in-depth, and it's a long movie, one that can keep young and old alike glued.
>>Sure to enter the top 3 best selling movies @ the box office ever. No doubt about it. Great movie. Even if you aren't a Harry fan (I WASN'T. WASN'T is the key word) you'll still enjoy it, and possibly, like me, be swept into the whole Harry thing!!!
