Review: This is an excellent Movie. This dvd is spectacular! Tons of extras. I think you should buy it right now. The animation, sound and music was fabulous. However, I do agree with the other reviewers.. "Morning Report" was just terrible. The only think I liked was watching Simba pounce around..

Summary: One of the greatest animated films ever
Review: Words can't describe how much I love this movie. I first saw it in the movies when I was a kid, and I've adored it ever since. Beautiful animation, great music, amazing story. I'm glad they finally brought out the dvd because my video was so messed up. One complaint though, the Morning Report absolutely blew. I don't understand why they even out that in there. Other than that, excellent.

Summary: Astounding movie. "Morning Report" though is a joke!
Review: I agree with almost everyone on here that "Morning Report" is really bad. It just clutters up the extended editon on the movie and really should not have been made. The other extras though are amazing such as "Bug Football" and the "Virtual Safari" which is really more oriented for younger kids but even adults may enjoy some of these extras too. The movie itself is a timeless classic about a lion cub named Simba whose father Mufasa is the king of Pride Rock but his traitorous uncle, brother of Mufasa, kills Mufasa by sending him down into a valley to his death, and Simba, believeing that he is responsible for Mufasa's death, flees into exile while his evil Uncle Scar takes over Pride rock and the lion pride goes into ruin. Now as a fully grown lion, Simba has to face his past in order to restore Pride Rock back into glory and defeat his evil uncle Scar. He meets the excellent meerkat Timon and warthog Pumbaa and the unforgettable "Akuna Matata" song comes to mind. This is a really excellent film and the DVD edition is really good but "Morning Report" is just atrocious and should not have been included on here. A DVD worth owning.

Review: What can I say? I am a huge Disney fan and especially have always loved this movie and music! My brother just purchased this for me and I love it! This DVD has adorable extras including two version of the movie. It has the original released in the theater version along with the version that I saw in the IMAX theater which included a new song, "Morning Report". This is a song which was included also in the Broadway version of this story (which if you even just like the Lion King, or love seeing brilliant productions...YOU MUST SEE THE BROADWAY SHOW) And this DVD gives the behind the scenes, broadway preview to wet everyone's appetite. Also, on the DVD are games like What Character Are you? which is cute. The story of the Lion King is one that you may have to tell little ones about before they see. There is a scary part where Simba's father is killed. When I first saw it in the theaters, my little cousin came with me, she was about 5. Her mom had talked to her beforehand about what happened and when the music got intense she leaned up and asked, "Did he died yet?". She did get scared and I had to put her on my lap for a few minutes, but as the next scene included "Hakuna Matata", she turned to me and said, "I can go back to my seat now." With some warning, it is a movie that the young ones will enjoy too. I can't wait to someday share this DVD with my children and this special edition is a great keepsake.

Review: This is a great movie worthy of 5 stars. But if you're not familiar with it, beware before having young kids see it -- for instance there's a scene of rather cruelly killing the "king" and the anguish of his son.

Review: I loved this movie. The new song is great! I loved the safari. There were lots of extras. I love this movie. I am a big fan and I have always been. I hope they make more Lion King movies. It made more of a bond between animals and us. The best movie just got better!

Summary: FIVE STARS for the EXTRAS; FOUR for the FILM ITSELF!
Review: The second disc of this special edition gives the viewer everthing and more that one wants to know about the hit film. Each bonus segment is short enough to captivate the "small fry" and detailed enough to satisfy the more mature fan of Disney's landmark film. The only complaint that I have is the same one that I had about the film upon its initial release: it, like most animated films from Disney and most American studios, perpetuates stereotypes and subtle biases that are so easily recognized through the actors hired to supply the voices. How could the offspring of characters voiced by James Earl Jones ("Mufasa") and Madge Sinclair ("Sarabi") come out sounding like Matthew Broderick ("Simba")? Why did the villain ("Scar", voiced by Jeremy Irons) have to possesses a BLACK mane? Doesn't this contribute to the notion that the color has some evil connotation? Why were Scar's henchmen so easily recognized by the ethnicity in the voices of Whoopi Goldberg and Cheech Marin? Why did the all-knowing sage ("Rafiki", the baboon) have to be voiced by a black man, Robert Guilliame? Why did the "comic relief" pair have to come across as two New Yorker deli owners (Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella as "Timba" and Pumbaa, respectively)? Maybe that's why this film, for all its financial success, did not get an Academy Award nomination for BEST PICTURE as did "Beauty and the Beast". There were too many unintented "slurs", of sorts.

Review: I like the movie & think it is very exciting but the remake dvd edition I don't really care for the added songs & stuff. I like the original version better. the new song sound like a totally different person which it is. For the movie 5 stars for the remake 3 stars

Summary: Breathtaking Digital Masterpiece
Review: I was around 7 o 8 when this movie came out, It was one of my favoright movies back then, but then I grew out of it and now at age 17, I buy the digital version off it and I love it again. This truly is a great Digital version off the movie, the 2 disc Platinum set does not take at all away from the Lion King was - it just makes it even more bigger. I watched this the other night and had forogt about what happens in the movie and watching it again it still makes me sad and happy, this movie truly gets to you. The digital remake includes Elton Johns 2 songs from the movie and a horible disney all stars song with the wannabe pop star Hillary Duff. But with that being the only bad thing in the set. It also comes in an immaculate cover presentation and the disc set contains an african safari with timon and paumba. The soind on this movie is great - it was like being at the cinema again watching it. Overall I rate it 5 stars.
