Summary: The Ten Commandments--For A Child To Comprehend!
Review: This animated epic is a faithful adaptation of the book of Exodus. From Moses' floating on the river to his delivering God's people from slavery in Egypt, this film is detailed, yet delivers the message for a child (who could not gather the same information from the Scriptures) to understand. -- The most powerful scene is where Egypt receives the 10 plagues, culminating in the death of all "unprotected" first-borns. -- This is an animated masterpiece delivered by hundreds of gifted artists at Dreamworks, the production company co-founded by cinematic genius Steven Spielberg. Using state of the art technology, the achievements of "The Prince of Egypt" are remarcable. The DVD version adds informative commentary and a beautiful demonstration of how this film was presented to audiences worldwide in 28 languages. Highly recommended!

Summary: Let my people buy this movie!
Review: For those of you who saw this film and didn't like it, I advise you to STOP reading! Here why: "The Prince of Egypt" is a wonderful film that takes the biblical story of Exodus and turns it into an entertaining, special-effect packed children's film no live-action movie could ever tell...and I'm not saying that just because I'm related to one of the animators. (Yeah, you heard me.)

This film works out pretty well for a young audience, but not too young. Some scences, like the Plagues, may scare them. And the DVD features only make the film better. Here's a breakdown:

* Audio Commentary with Directors: Perfect if you've seen the movie before, like me. The directors, all three of them, do voice-overs throughout the entire film, talking about how certain scenes were made, the steps they took to make them, etc.)

*The Making of: A little featurette.

*"When You Believe" Multi-Language Presentation: The "When You Believe" sequence in multiple languages to show how they made the songs perfectly in-sync no matter how many languages it had to be translated to.

*"Chariot Race" Basics of Animation: The process used in making the "Chariot Race" scene.

*Focus on Technical Effects: A look at the special effects in the film.

*Theatrical Trailers, Cast & Filmmaker Bios, Production Notes: No explanation here.

*Special Sneak Preview: Special trailer for "Road to El Dorado" and "Chicken Run".

I hope this clears up a few things about the film and I hope you and you family enjoy this movie for years to come.

Summary: Wow!
Review: When I first heard about this film, I wasn't interested in something I thought would be completely different from the true Book of Exodus. However, from the first few moments of the film, I could tell right away that this wasn't just a cartoon. Another thing I noticed is that this isn't a film for young children. There are several scenes that can be disturbing to little kids (they gave it a PG rating for a reason). Older kids and adults will greatly enjoy this movie. Some of the animation is breathtaking, and always keeps your attention. The Prince of Egypt is an excellent film, staying true to the Bible in most respects. There are flaws, of course. Moses was actually 80 years old when he returned to Egypt after being banished. And his brother Aaron did most of the speaking to the Pharoah. I felt, however, that the movie got the basic story and message across, and viewers won't be disappointed. The score is also amazing (I can't stand the Carey-Houston version of the main song, though).

Summary: Loved this movie!
Review: I loved this movie! Although it changed the real story of Moses just a little, it was still excelent. The way it was done made it incredibly dramatic and exciting. And, if you're like me and like songs like the ones in this movie, you will instantly love all of them, esp. "When You Believe", with the exception of "You're playing with the big boys now", which was just silly. But the movie had a star cast and kept me excited the whole way through. I watch it again and again, and it's a definite buy.

Summary: God himself couldn't have done better
Review: This movie is a very good religious flick. Before this movie, I despised of religious flicks, I thought they were boring and confusing. Well, that's certainly not how this movie turned out! It's very exciting, it's realistic, the visual effects are INCREDIBLE....in other words, see this movie. God wants you to.

Summary: Prince Of Egypt
Review: DREAMWORKS DID A FANTASTIC JOB WITH THIS ONE. GREAT ANIMATION AND AWESOME VOICE ACTING. WITH TOP NOTCH ACTORS FOR THE VOICES,VAL KILMER AND PATRICK STEWART AMONG THEM. SO MUCH TIME AND EFFORT WENT INTO THIS AND IT SHOWS. AND OF COURSE MOST IMPORTANTLY A STORY SHOWING GODS LOVE FOR HIS PEOPLE AND HOW HE CAN USE ANY ONE FOR HIS GLORY IF THEY ARE WILLING AND OBEDIANT. SO IT'S NOT ONE HUNDRED PERCENT BIBLICAL. COMPARED TO WHAT WE USUALLY GET FROM HOLLYWOOD LETS TAKE IT. AWESOME MOVIE!

Summary: Too scary for little children and too much emphasis on evil.
Review: While the prince of Egypt offers some nice special effects and it is definitely made professionally, it is too scary for little children. My older daughter (3 years old) is afraid to watch this movie. However, she likes "Ten Commandments", which is probably her favorite. Don't you find it strange? Yes, the music is really too scary and the pharaoh looks really evil (demon possessed?). God tears apart friendship between Moses and Ramsey. There is no track of such a thing in the Bible. God is portrayed scary at the scene when Moses is informed that he is the deliverer to set his people free from bondage. God is God of Love. He is holy and righteous. The scene where magicians created snakes is used to advertise evil power and so much emphasis is put here. It seems to me that the persons who created this movie are not born again people so I don't blame them for this. In my opinion this movie does more harm to little children than any bible related movie for children. This movie and Noah's Ark sit on the shelf hidden and are used almost not at all. I like sound track though on the audio CD (I got sampler at Wal-Mart for 0.50$). Whoever, read the Bible knows, where the film is wrong and it is in several places. Aaron used to speak to pharaoh and Moses' wife stayed home with kids. It was based a lot on Ten Commandments because I can see the same flaws repeated. More accurate presentation of Moses life is in movies "Moses". However, I don't like that Moses was portrayed while he was in Egypt (kind of week). The Bible says that Moses was the shyest man on Earth but yet he was mighty in deeds. For complete truth of Moses life go to the Bible and read it. I don't encourage people to watch this movie from Christian perspective. Otherwise, if you want to get good and educative cartoons for children, then get "Veggietales".

Summary: Wonderful, dramatic, exciting animated version of Moses
Review: Moses, who is voiced by Val Kilmer, is shown very well in this film. I usually am not a cartoon kind of dude, but there is no other way this film could've been done. Great songs, great cast of voices including Val Kilmer, Michelle Pfiefer, Sandra Bullock, Jeff Goldblum, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Danny Glover and many more. A enjoyable, dramtic film for all.

Summary: The Prince of Egypt is an amazing and dramatic story
Review: The Prince of Egypt - by itself, without the DVD - is still incredible. The special effects and music are breathtaking, the characters have depth, and the story's integrity and feel really do match with the bible, even if some details are changed. Then, add the DVD to it - the best one I own right nest to "The Matrix" - and its rating goes off the charts. It has director commentary, The Making of, trailers, sketch "album," how the special effects were done, and a heck of a lot more. My favorite is the "When You Believe" multi-language track. It's very obvious that the filmmakers did everything possible to make this movie good in EVERY country. Buy this DVD! It will blow you away.

Summary: Mazel Tov, Katzenberg!
Review: How exactly do you translate the story of Exodus...the story of freedom...into an Animated film...? How did they do it? Rarely have I felt tears at the BEGINNING of a movie...when Y'sheved(Moses' Mother) started to sing her lullaby IN HEBREW, I almost started crying. Since I always prefer animated films to the "real thing", I felt "finally, a perfect film..." Being Jewish and seeing this movie during the month of Pesach(Passover) was literally a religious experience. I was touched. Seeing the people sing Mi'Chamocha as the left Egypt pulled tears from my heart. I was so happy to see the way the film was executed. Don't get me wrong, this is a film for all peoples. But it seems to almost be aimed at the Jewish Community. And I think this movie is better than ANY live action film to date. I could literally hear the Words from the Torah in my mind as I watched. The music was too incredible to describe, the voices a special treat, especially Jeff Goldblum as Aaron. This movie may not be historically acccurate, but it is a well rounded account that has achieved an incredible thing. The Hebrew singing was too much for me, again, I wanted to cry because it was so amazing to see it on the screen, and feel like you are there. L'Chiam, Katzenberg, Dreamworks SKG. Thank you for adding something to the list with The Ten Commandments and Schindler's List and La Vita E Bella (Life is Beautiful). If you have to buy any movie for you or your children, please buy this one. It may be a little violent, but the sheer fact that Dreamworks is not afraid to show what it might have been like is something to applaud. The movie is a masterpiece. Watch it, it is a NEW experience...
