Summary: A Classic!
Review: The Fox and the Hound is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time! My little boy and I love to cuddle up on Friday nights, pop this DVD in, and laugh, cry, and sing through the whole movie. This movie is a classic Disney movie, my family and I love it. If you don't own it, you should...it's a great movie!

Summary: Not as heartwarming as I remember...
Review: I remember loving this movie as a child. Maybe it's the cruelties of life that have hardened me, or maybe it's the fact this dvd is crap, but I regret spending $30 on this dvd. Not to say the characters aren't cute and the ending doesn't bring about a slight misting of the eyes, but let's face it this movie drags on. To be honest the read along version (an extra on the dvd) was a lot more heartwarming than the movie. Nonetheless, if you have children between the ages of 3 and 8 I'm sure they lack the skepticisms I hold against this movie.

Summary: One of Disney's best animated movie of the 80's
Review: Since Disney released 'The Fox & The Hound' in 1981, five years should pass, before they got another succes with 'Basil The Mouse Detective'.
'The Fox & The Hound' is a charming animal fable with the babyfox Todd, and his best friend, the pup Copper, they grow up, and then the real trouble begins, when Copper becomes a huntingdog!
Both the characters and the backgrounds are excellent, and created without any help from computers, the voices are outstanding, and there are only three short songs, these are the reasons for a perfect animated movie for kids over 5, including their parents, who will get some education of this unforgettable and adorable movie!

Summary: The Fox and the Hound Gold Collection DVD
Review: "The Fox & The Hound", is widely considered as Disney's best animated feature in their 70's & 80's era (spare "Little Mermaid"), I agree. The film shows animation that seems to come straight from Disney's 1st Golden Era. Like the review says on the cover art, this movie does give the mood of "Bambi". Aside from that, "The Fox & The Hound" has an intriguing story about friends that should be enemies by nature. The entire plot leads to an exciting forest climax, where the two's friendships are tested. I do agree that the film may be too intense for younger viewers. However, this is a major problem that has occurred becuase over the years, Disney films were labled as little kid movies. And that isn't always the case, as this film shows. Definatley for 5 and up...

Summary: Disney's worst DVD
Review: This is probably the Disney Classic that I like the least. Released in the early 80's, the era with the poorest animation quality for the Disney troop, the story is also one of the least interesting ever chosen for an animated film. For a double boggie, the quality of the video is preposterous. It seems as if no one really cared enough to check the master they where using for this DVD.

Summary: Not the movie for my family values
Review: I purchased this move because it seemed to have that sweet, gentle story of yesteryear. Boy was I suprised. It has some of that but overall there are two strong, distinct messages. One, is that it is a harsh and violent world out there. From start to finish there are guns blasting away. The movie starts by blowing away the mother fox then moves to shooting at a moving car carrying grandma and so on and on. The movie ends with an ugly, violent scene between a bear and the man. At this my toddler jumped up and began hitting the table and TV screen. The second message is blatant mysogeny. Every woman is referred to as a meddling female or empty headed female. Neither is a message I want my daughters to have. I put the movie in its rightful place - the garbage. '

Summary: to the lady in the first review
Review: I think that if u can find horror in "The fox and the hound" then lady, u and ur kid need to stay at home and never leave ur house. As for ur television, u might as well throw it out the window. What can u teach ur kid about life by pampering him, he needs to understand that the world isnt perfect, and what better way then to ease him into the real world than with Disney movies. Walt Disney would roll over in his grave if he knew u said that. This movie is a Classic, and it gets 5 stars.

Summary: What kind of Disney movie is this???
Review: I finally saw this movie for the first time. Given that it's a Disney movie, a children's movie, and the art on the case is of a cuddly puppy and a fuzzy fox kit, I expected this to be a sweet movie about the value of friendship. Instead, I watched a suprisingly dark, violent film. I'm stunned that Disney even put this out! My niece was frightened many years ago when she saw The Rescuers in the theater. I can't imagine the nightmares she would have had after watching this! *I* was upset, and I've been an adult for longer than I care to remember -- I can't imagine letting a child view this. As if that wasn't enough, the characters are weak, the plot is thin, and the songs are bad. The movie doesn't even establish the development of the animals' friendship. We only see them play a few times, and the next time they see each other, Copper develops a vicious hatred for Tod based on something that Tod didn't even do. Some friend. And how random was the subplot about the birds going after the caterpillar? Not up to Disney's reputation, that's for sure.

Summary: Excellent Movie.
Review: I love The Fox and the Hound. It's one of the Disney movies everybody enjoys; it has wonderful messages, humor, music, but not a whole lot of the corny drama that so many people complain about in newer films. There are about 5 songs, most of which are sung by Big Mamma the owl, all of which are very short, but also all of which are very good, and one of which is terribly sad. The dog Chief is somewhat reminiscent of Tramp from Lady & the Tramp, and in fact the two movies are quite similar in style. I love Lady and the Tramp, too. Tod and Copper, a fox and hound, respectively, are adorable, and remain best friends until Copper learns that his owner wants him to be a hunter. And that means killing Tod and other animals like him. Tod's loving mistress sets him free in a game preserve when Amos Slade, the hunter, goes after him for "attacking his chickens," which of course he was not doing. Tod falls in love with a pretty girl fox named Vixie, and when all comes to pass, Copper protects Tod from Amos' gun, and everyone gets a happy ending. Despite my strong aversion to hunting, which this fabulous movie denounces loud and clear, I quite like Chief...and of course those loony birds who are constantly after the "fuzzy worm," and the nasty badger, and the cute little porcupine with the Piglet voice. One of the birds, Boomer, has Tigger's voice, too. Overall, TFATH is a very friendly film and one worth owning.

Review: Excellent production of a timeless tale about friendship, caring and loyalty done in a loving, gentle, comforting style. Shows examples of good, clear conflict resolution solutions. It's a powerful tool to teach children social skills with vibrant
animation, emotional expressions. Our kids went from teary-eyed to smiling to laughing aloud. Unanimously said they'd watch it again. "Cool, lots of action and funny." "My friend was really nice to me, then really mean, then nice again - like Copper
and Todd. People change over time." Most appropriate for 5 to 8-year-olds.
