Summary: Wonderful movie right out of the book
Review: This is one of the greater movies of 2001. The adaptation out of the book was wonderful, although they could not fit everything, it still has all the main points. I was pretty excited when going to see this in theaters, and it was better than I thought it was going to be. Now it is out on DVD, with special features. You can play games, and you can watch never before seen footage left out of the theatrical version. As for the movie itself, it is as good as it was in theaters. Harry Potter finds out he is a wizard, and goes off to learn the magic of his world, and the truth behind his parents. Nothing that is in the movie was not in the book. The cast overall was good, especially Alan Rickman as Professor Severus Snape, the Potions Master. He plays the role perfectly. The special effects, everything from Quidditch to the Invisibility Cloak, was awesome. This is one you don't want to miss.

Summary: Very Entertaining!
Review: I can't think why I didn't write a review on "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" before, but I remembered that I had that movie so I decided to write on it today.

The story is about a boy named Harry Potter(obviously) and his parents who are actually a famous wizard and witch who were killed by the evil wizard Voldemort. But he does not know that, for his mean-spirited aunt and uncle had falsely told him that his parents had 'died in a car-crash'. Of course, there's the fat cousin, too.

One day, he discovers all about his parents, his real history, and also about the wonderful school for wizards and witches at Hogwarts when Hagrid, the keeper of keys and something(I forgot) of Hogwarts, meets him on Harry's 11th birthday. Of course, Harry leaves his aunt, uncle, and cousin and goes to Hogwarts with Hagrid.

The story goes on about a mysterious stone that makes you live eternally and a three-headed dog that's, obviously, VERY dangerous. It's all very interesting!

I think some kids might(MIGHT!) get scared some parts, like the part where the bad guy(not saying who!) shows his two-faced head. Or the part where Harry's opening a book and the face comes roaring out. THAT was surprising and scary in a way. But, it's just my opinion because I got kind of shocked those parts. :)

The Quidditch Match was really cool, a little bit silly, but still very cool! I also loved the part where all the foooood comes out(mmmmm!) All in all, Harry Potter was a bit scary and surprising, but it was still very fun and exciting to watch!

Summary: Scores great as a movie, but DVD features are just okay
Review: As a movie, this is great entertainment and (yes, I will say it along with 100's of others) wonderful family entertainment. I'm 30 and I was captivated. It ranks with Wizard of Oz, E.T. and Star Wars, even Miracle on 34th St.. As a matter of fact a comparison for those who are worried that it maybe too intense for kids would be the Wicked Witch of the West. Really a solid film for all ages. But getting to the deleted scenes while cute at first, by making you go through a series of puzzles in order to get to them, can get downright annoying if you want to get to it quick. Example: Thanksgiving day our family was watching and wanted to see the deleted scenes. 15 minutes later, five adults over 25 were still trying to figure it out! It's funny now, but just be warned. Also a note for collectors and film buffs: The rest of the features on the DVD, save for a featurette, is geared for kids. Virtual tours, sorting hat etc.. It's safe fun and, in my humble opinion, I'm sure a 9 year old suffering from a few goosebumps will be able to breeze through the puzzles in record time. So parents rest easy. Great movie.

Summary: A mixed bag.
Review: My father is a fan of this film, so I have watched multiple times. I feel this is truly a mixed film, as it has a poor lead(Daniel Radcliffe is stiff and theatrical)and silly special FX, obviously created with a computer. It does, however, have an excellent performance by Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley.

Summary: The Magic Was There
Review: Knowing how Hollywood has a tendency to butcher a book's adapation to the screen made me very leary to see this film, but, for once, they got it right. Knowing there is only so much you can put into a 2 hour movie, the deleted scenes (which, by the way, don't make it so difficult to get to) could have been put in the film which would have extended it by about 5 minutes, but they also would have provided some nice transitions and/or more needed background (Dursleys). The acting was where I would have expected it to be, the sets so realistic I wish they offered tours. But the basic charm and magic that is found in the books was transferred to the screen intact. In all, my only real complaint is that it wasn't long enough. I really look forward to the next installment (provided the same attention to detail is kept).

Summary: Not the books...
Review: Do yourself a favour and see the movies before the books.
They are not bad in their own right, but if you see the movie first, you'll be impressed twice because the ante is upped.

Summary: To Harry Potter, the boy who lived!
Review: I loved this movie, just as much as i loved the book. They missed out tons of stuff though. I'm not gonna write it (i mean type it :}) all down cause that would take ages! But all in all it is a must see for wizards and muggles alike!

Summary: suprising
Review: i went to this movie at the urging of my fiance'. i took her to see it, sat back thinking this was just going to be an over-hyped kiddie flick. i was surprised to find that i actually found myself liking the movie. it wasnt as childish as i thought. Harry's fat-slob Uncle and Alan Rickman as the potions teacher made the movie. im glad i gave it a fair chance. good FX too.
