Review: That has got to be the best line in any movie! Aside from Inigo Montoya, Wesley and Buttercup are the shining stars of this movie. I love how helpless Buttercup is and how Wesley is always there to save her (especially in the Fire Swamp).

Summary: This is why we buy movies.
Review: Sometimes we'll buy a movie only to never see it again. This even happens with movies that we liked the first time, because often seeing a movie once is enough. But, this is the kind of movie that you'll see again and again. My niece who is now in college knows the dialogue in this film verbatim. We try and watch it together at least once a year and we still laugh at the classic lines. I rank it right up there with Monty Python's Holy Grail, Young Frankenstein and the Austin Powers movies.

Summary: Happily Ever After From the 80s
Review: This movie is indescribable in its genius simplicity. Although it was made before I was born. (Yes, I am young) I have recently discovered this to be one of my favorite films. It's best the first time, but you keep picking up on things after multiple viewings. As others have said this is a story of true love between a farm boy and a girl named Buttercup. It doesn't rely on computers or sex or anything else of that nature to convey it and it succeeds beautifully. It's perfect because it's romantic so girls like it, it has fighting so guys like it, it's a fairy-tale so kids like it, and it's humorous so adults like it. So technically you can watch it with your boyfriend/girlfriend, siblings, or parents. It's very versatile and appeals to pretty much everyone. True, a couple of the things are kind of low-budget looking, but this was the 80s, a time of... well... I won't go there. The huge rat in the fire-swamp is kind of tacky looking looking back. Also, I think maybe this should have been rated PG-13. (It's kind of in between PG and PG-13) Because they use the word ba*****, it shows drunkenness, and he makes reference to her "assets". I know those are kind of weak reasons to up the rating, it's just that my 9-year-old sister is allowed to watch PG movies, as are most other kids and I don't think they should hear some of that, even though it's brief. But overall, it's a great film, highly recommended, go see it. NOW!

Summary: Torturiffic - not for the children
Review: Gosh--I know this is a classic for people of a certain generation, but still--it is, on the whole--awful, and it is NOT for children.

The love story at the end does not redeem the nauseating scenes of drawn-out torture of the hero.

The giant's speech is utterly incoherent.

Billy Crystal and Carol Kane perform the most unfunny Jewish old folks stereotypes in decades.

Sorry--but I just don't get why this is so cherished by some. It is cringeworthy on many levels, you'll just be waiting an eternity for some scenes to be OVER, already.

And the lack of extras on the DVD doesn't justify the DVD price.

Caution--if you believe this is a kids' movie...it really isn't.
