Summary: Lousy DVD, great movie
Review: As someone else wrote we all know this is a great family oriented film, but the DVD is horrible. Massive amounts of film grain, non-anamorphic video, and a complete lack of features make this a buy only recommendation if you just can't stand NOT having the movie. If you collect DVDs you will be disappointed. The studio will probably release a special edition version later which really angers me because they should take the time to do it right the first time. I rate the movie 4 stars, the DVD itself like 1.5 stars. It could have been sooo much better.

Summary: He didn't fall, inconcievable
Review: Okay i'm biased. i love this film, the duel on the cliffs of insanity inspired me to learn how to fence. so i have been waiting for this dvd release for ages. the movie is still great, the fencing is still exciting and every bit as much fun as the first time i saw it. the one liners are still cute and the characters still cool. my only complaint with the dvd release is where are the extras. apart from the trailer the dvd is devoid of extras. no commentaries, no deleted scenes. but the dvd is cheaper than alot and that is something good. if you want a good adventure film or love it then buy it.

Summary: Love the film, but... No Widescreen
Review: I would have bought this anyways, as I love the movie, and have been waiting for it on DVD since the format arrived, but... The "widescreen" version of the film is nothing but the standard format of the movie with the top and bottom cut off, to give the illusion of the original format. So, all you get is Grandpa's hat cut off, and other gaffs. It's still worth it, for the picture and sound quality, but the promise of "widescreen" is a false one.

Summary: Good interpretation of the book!
Review: Though I'm only halfway through the "good-parts" version of the book I saw this movie a couple weeks ago, believe me it was a great interpritation of the book. Buttercup is the most beautiful woman in the world, she falls in love with Wesley, a stable boy on her farm. But when Wesley plans to sail away he never returns, Buttercup is devistated and vows to never love another man again. Which she dosen't. But when Prince Humperdinck purposes to her she agrees. Buttercup dosen't want to marry him but she has no choice. A mysterious twist of events happens when she's kidnapped by three very diffrent men. And a man in black dosen't seem too happy about it.

If you love love stories and midevil tales. This is the move for you!

Summary: Romance and Adventure
Review: This movie clearly defines true love and what one would be willing to do to preserve that love, even if it includes putting one's life on the line to save the other. Not only is this movie filled with romance, but is is also filled with adventures, some of which are humorous. This movie is a personal favorite of mine that is great to watch with a significant other.

Summary: One of the most entertaining movies of all time
Review: An amazing movie adaptation of an amazing book.

The casting was done with a strong eye to the book. Although physical descriptions in the book were not met (in particular with Prince Humperdink), the characteristics were marvelously updated. The side story with the sick child and grandfather (cameo by Peter Falk) was a brilliant touch that gave the story extra life.

The movie shows great care. The swordsplay is still some of the most impressive ever. The dialog carefully crafted. The editing is spot on. And even the cheesy rodents are just cheesy enough. (And I'm also glad they controlled the screen time of Max the Miracle Maker -- it could have easily become a classic Bill Crystal distraction piece).

This movie has it all. Read the other reviews. If you have never seen this, I envy you the first experience of watching one of the most purely entertaining movies of all time.

Summary: How could anyone not love this movie?
Review: I have seen this movie more times than I can count and it never ceases to inthrall me. It has everything you need, action, comedy, adventure, romance, superb acting, all in all it's a wonderful movie.

Summary: Have fun stormin' the castle!
Review: Call it a fairy tale. Call it a romantic comedy. Doesn't matter. Just be sure you call it good.

It amazes me that this great cast has nearly vanished from the face of the Earth. Cary Elwes, Robin Wright Penn, Mandy Patinkin, et all, are the best they've ever been here.

Yes, the story gets a bit hokey here and there. The comedy delves into being too broad at times. And, the Fire Swamp could use some more realistic giant rats. But that's just nit-picking what is a wonderful movie for the family from director Rob Reiner.

Summary: THIS IS A LOW GRADE THING
Review: I have no idea what this is. This can't be a movie because movies are supposed to be good. The story is assanine and unbelievable. The title makes no sense. What exactly is a princess bride who is named after a buttercup. I was made to watch this movie in school and it was torture. Thank you.
