Summary: Everyone, WATCH THIS GREAT MOVIE!
Review: Ever since I was 6 or 7 years old (now I'm 14), this has been a family favorite. I've watched it what seems to be about 100 times (maybe I have) and still watch it many more times! Cary Elwes as Wesley is perfect and then there's Buttercup (Robin Wright) who is just as charming. Oh, and there's so many more great people, Wallace Shawn, Mandy Patinkin, Andre the Giant, Christopher Guest, Billy Crystal, Carol Kayne, Peter Cook, and of course Peter Faulk, they made the movie one of my favorites. Don't ever, ever miss this one! It has romance, action, adventure, humor, drama...

Summary: One of the few perfect films.
Review: This is a movie that you can always enjoy, no matter what kind of movies you like, or what kind of mood you're in. It has romance, and adventure, and a low-key kind of humor that's right on the mark.

The acting is impeccable, and the construction of the story is marvelous. It's as safe a bet as I've ever seen for the ultimate recommendation: feel free to buy it even if you haven't seen it, and feel free to give it to someone even if you don't know their tastes.

Summary: One of the best movie ever made....
Review: I have loved this movie since I've first saw it. I was a little kid then, and now at 21...I still love it. This movie has everything anyone could ever want. It's filled with action, romance, fairy tales, magic, suspense and lots more. There are so many great charcters and the story is just...FUN!

Summary: Best Line in any movie
Review: "My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die", It's the classic line and it all started here. But how about these others? Batman to the Joker, Simba to Scar, D'Artagnan to Rochefort and scores of other movies where the son/daughter avenges the killing of their father.

Summary: Finally! Anamorphic Widescreen Special Edition!
Review: This is one of my favorite movies of all time. The characters are strong and the story is well crafted. This also happens to be one of the most quoted films of all time - probably only second to Monty Python and the Holy Grail. You can be sure this Anamorphic edition will proudly sit on my shelf.

I'm so happy this Anamorphic version is finally being made available. I can't imagine the decision process a production company goes through when they decide that Anamorphic is not important... "let's just do letterbox," they must say. Though I cannot fathom why; it's all in the mastering. Anamorphic is good for everyone - normal TVs *and* Widescreen TVs.

It only leaves me with the problem of finding what to do with the previous (non-Anamorphic) version I bought. But I'm happy to deal with that. :)

Thank you MGM.

(now if they'd only do an Anamorphic "Vertigo")

Summary: Please God let there be a Special Edition one day..
Review: I saw this at the theatre I think many years ago with someone special at the time, and fell in love with the film. It's wonderful film that I could not tell you enough how wonderful it is. You must see it. You must have it.. You must devour it and live it. =) The only downer is that there isn't an ULTIMATE EDITION out yet.. when there is,like the 5 star film it is, the reviews will be 5 star too.

Summary: not to like this movie would be "inconceivable"
Review: This movie is wonderful! It was fun from the very beginning (is this a kissing book?) to the end credits. I laughed the whole way through. I enjoyed the way the movie twisted the normal fairy tale around by rendering the hero (Cary Elwes) nearly immoblie except for his head. Fezzick (played by wrestler Andre the Giant)was funny too, even though I had to concentrate to understand him. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and will be watching it many more times.

Summary: Safe in the fire swamp
Review: I have to confess my bias here. I first saw this movie as a child and it has remained my favorite movie of all time. It is not because of its stellar acting, because, to be honest, the acting isn't all that great. It's not because of the brilliant story; William Goldman did better with Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The scenery is trite. The humor is unsubtle. The fantasy is stretched (the two main countries are named after two types of old coins.)

So why do I love this movie so much? Because it takes me there. I don't know where there is, but whereever it is, I'm at it during this movie. I'm with Inigo and the man in black on the cliffs of despair, I'm with Buttercup in her dream, I'm doing fine in the fireswamp despite the three terrors. And I know that there isn't really anything to fear because characters don't really die, they can always be revived. And life as a whole is always tongue in cheek.

The movie meant to be a clever little romp through a fairy tale- a Shrek of the '80s without the crazy anti-Disney motif. It passed with flying colors. Nothing is serious, even death and "mawwage" and we love this world for it.
