Summary: Second-most quoted movie
Review: Casablanca is perhaps the most quoted movie for many Americans. Only the Princess Bride is close to its equal.

William Goldman wrote so many brilliant lines in this movies that it's difficult to stop at one.

In a sword-fight of any kind, one cannot help saying "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!"

Billy Crystal produces more laughs in five minutes than the rest of his movies combined. "Bye-bye boys, have fun storming the castle."

Whenever Andre the Giant is mentioned, his excellent performance in this movies comes to mind more easily than any body slam of any steroid-crazed action figure in the WWF.

Your sons will remember the sword-fights and the physical comedy. Your daughters will observe the very definition of true love. You will effortlessly recall one great line after another.

As you wish.

Summary: "You keep using that word"
Review: What can I say- Peter Falk the supreme story teller, with a young Robin Wright Penn and Cary Elwes as The Princess Bride and Westley, respectively. Mandy Patinkin shines as Inigo Montoya, and Chris Sarandon contributes another demented evil antagonist-hope it's not typecasting! Fairy tale hijinks at its best.

Review: I love this movie. I is one of my favorites. My family has watched this over and over again and we still laugh. My brothers, sisters and I can tutn down the volume and quote the movie from heart (or almost) it is one of the greatest movies ever made!

Summary: Perhaps the greatest non great movie ever
Review: Although this is not a perfect movie, it is one of those few that has something for everyone. In this day so many movies focus on one type; drama, horror, action, comedy, romantic and the list goes on. This movie has some of all of those types of movies. As best described by Grandpa, "are you kidding, fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, and true love". The movies tailors to the all who watch it, for the guy, sword fighting, fighting, torture and giants. For the ladies, Buttercup and her search and struggle for true love.

I would be willing to say that almost everyone has or should see this movie.

Summary: Inconceivable
Review: One of the best movies ever made. Suitable for all ages! It has everything a movie should have, pirates, giants and of course, true love. I've been holding out for the Special Edition.

Summary: The Princess Right
Review: Ever since I was a young girl, I have loved The Princess Bride, directed by Rob Reiner. From the fast-paced sword fights, always keeping you on your toes; to the sweet loving hero, always there to save the day. I have always recommended this movie to everyone, but since the DVD came out, I can't wait to get it for myself (I borrowed my friends'). The Princess Bride rolls many different fairy tale stories into one great action packed romantic thriller. If you're not afraid of the Fire Swamps, or evil Prince's, then this movie is for you.

Summary: A DVD collection is incomplete wthout this movie.
Review: Few movies can make an entire audience happy, but "The Princess Bride" truly has something for everybody. Whether you want action, comedy, romance or maybe a hint of drama, you'll have it all in abundant supply on this disc. Not to mention some wonderful performances by a stellar cast. Cary Elwes is brilliant as Wesley, our sharp tongued hero, Robin Wright also does a remarkable job as Buttercup, Wesley's love interest and potential queen, Chris Sarandon is absolutely dispicable as Prince Humperdinck and Andre "The Giant" is fabulous as the lovable Fezzik. The two performances that stand out as my personal favorites are those of Mandy Patinkin and Christopher Guest. Patinkin plays Inigo Montoya, the spaniard who seeks revenge against Count Rugen, the six fingered man (Guest) for slaying his father when he was a boy. Some of the movies most intense and satisfying moments come from the interaction between these two characters. I whole-heartedly recommend this DVD, your shelf is naked without it.

Review: ...

Attention Parents, buy this movie for your kids!!

They will LOVE IT!!

Just to reinterate, this is the perfect film for any age. This is definitely in my top 5 movies of all time, and im in my 20's. Adults will like the satiricle comedy, while younger children will love the fairy tale.

Now that this special edition was released I just have to praise how awesome of a job they did on it.

While the video quality isnt as good as newer movies, it has actual anamorphic widescreen unlike the first DVD.

However,
The special features are AWESOME!!

Reiner's commentary is awesome. It gives you so much insight on the making of the movie, and goes further into how this movie perfectly balances humor and love.

I haven't listened to Goldman's commentary yet, but I'm sure its great.

You could really see how this movie was his and Reiner's baby with how carefully the put together this movie.

The real gem of this DVD is the documentary of how they made and cast the movie. They reunited almost the whole cast, and discussed the making of the movie. You learn stuff like the sword fights were done 100% without stunt doubles, except for the flipping.

This DVD is an absolute must have for fans of the movie. Even if you have never seen, i recommmend taking a chance and picking it up.

Summary: Buy it again for the first time, lol
Review: The special features on this new Special Edition DVD are great! I haven't listened to the commentaries yet, but I've watched all the other special features. They were all I hoped to see and more, there wasn't much information at all on Peter Faulk (the grandfather), it was a bit sad to hear them talk about Andre the Giant.

This DVD is definately worth the money and the features alone will keep you busy for hours and all are worth watching again and again.

For those of us who bough the original release DVD, buy this one and give the one you already have to someone who has a DVD player. Also, the menu is A LOT better. The old menu was...well...annoying.

Summary: Most Quotable Movie Ever
Review: The thing that makes the Princess Bride one of the greatest movies of all time, aside from the perfect casting, is the screenwriting. Almost every other line in this movie is some kind of archetypal ironic quotable. My wife and I use these lines on each other or our kids all the time as the humorous moment or message-to-be-conveyed requires. Its part of the shorthand of our lives: "As you wish" "inconceivable" "I'm not left-handed either" "no one of consequence" "my way's not very sportsmanlike" "truly you have a dizzying intellect" "why didn't you list that among our assets in the first place?" "I knew he was bluffing" and of course "My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die." The new Special Edition DVD finally does the film justice with commentary tracks, a new documentary with recent interviews of the actors and anamorphic widescreen, much better than the old non-anamorphic dvd without any extras. And this movie actually deserves the Special Edition Treatment.
