Rating: Summary: Bad disk avoid at all cost! Review: Well if the bad audio track was bad enough, being FORCED to watch the previews EVERYTIME you want to watch the movie is. Disney really blew this one. Maybe they can get their act together for the Collector Edition!
Rating: Summary: You'll love it! Review: Had to add my review to help balance out those reviews from the audio critical. First of all, I have surround sound theatre set up in my home, and the sound is beautiful. Perfect? Who knows and who cares. If its audio you're looking for, buy the soundtrack. If its wonderful family enterainment you're looking for, then buy the DVD for lasting quality. This is a movie with a story, a moral, great music and outstanding animation and color. There are no slow parts in this movie. This is the best Disney movie I have seen in a long time.(Lion King II is my second all time favorite.) My 3 year old son, my husband and I have and will continue to watch and enjoy this movie over and over. I am 100% satisfied.
Rating: Summary: WARNING--botched sound--WAIT FOR SPECIAL EDITION RELEASE Review: The one star I give is because of this version, not the movie itself. THE SOUND IS FAULTY! The left front and rear speaker merge the sound. If you already have purchased this movie I suggest starting it at 31:00 and you will hear the gunshot, noticibly flawed. The thing is, Disney has admitted to the mistake yet comments this does not warrant a recall? Sorry, but if I buy a shirt and it has even a tiny hole, I'm going to want to exchange it for one without the hole. And that exchange should not bring about an argument with the reseller. Disney apparantly does not feel the same way....For those who have not bought this movie already, WAIT AND THERE WILL BE A SPECIAL EDITION COMING OUT IN APRIL WITH THE MISTAKE CORRECTED. The mistake will also obviously be corrected in future pressings of this edition, but with 700,000 already pressed you would not be able to know if you were getting a 'good' copy. The special edition will also have more extras that so many people have complained the previous Disney releases ignored. On a brighter side, the movie itself I would rate a 5. The distorted noise doesn't make the movie unwatchable...you just feel cheated. One last comment to a previous response who said that the sound was bad because it was 5.0 instead of 5.1: this is how it was released in theaters as well; it is not a mistake or way of cutting the cost.
Rating: Summary: tarzan Review: The movie is great family watching, with little hiden jokes for the adults. The music is among the best in a Disney movie, and music in Disney films has long been known for the sound tracks. My family would recommmend it everyone. If possible view the DVD. the kids will like the games, and the other bonus.
Rating: Summary: Cute but hollow... Review: I'm sorry...lot's of people completely LOVE this movie (including several people in my family)...but I don't. It is cute, it does have some humor, it does have some tense scenes, it is DISNEY, but that wasn't enough to carry my expectations for what Disney could have done with this material. I have read virtually all of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan books, and I can't believe that no one has yet gotten it really right. Disney's offering presents Tarzan as a pseudo-skateboarder sliding and swinging through the trees. What are his feet made of anyway? Again, I'm sorry, but I just can't buy into this version. So much potential, so much disappointment. 2 stars.
Rating: Summary: Rosie Ruined it! Review: Imagine, some of the greatest animation ever filmed, including breakthroughs in new techniques, and a smooth soundtrack by Phil Collins, yet the film is actually ruined by sound. The sound I'm talking about is Rosie O'Donell's obnoxiously grating voice. It amazes me that the people producing such excellent visuals didn't think this was a problem. She's completely out of place, first of all. She sounds like a heavy metal guitarist in the middle of an orchestra. And what the heck accent is that, anyway? New York? Wisconsin? Chicago? It certainly doesn't belong in the jungle. I like Disney films, but unlike the rest of them, I can never sit through this movie ever again, unless it's on mute. The two stars are for the animation, which alone deserves five, but the three missing stars are for the horrible mistake in casting.
Rating: Summary: magnificent Review: I FIRST BOUGHT THIS MOVIE FOR MY KIDS AND WHEN I STARTED WATCHING IT I WAS INSTANTLY HOOKED. GREAT FILM FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. EVEN THE QUIZ KEPT US ALL ENTERTAINED.
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL Review: I loved it, my son loved it. It's a great movie for kids of all ages. My son is 11 and he enjoyed it as much as when he saw his first Disney movie. It's a must see for every family. Great music too!
Rating: Summary: Disney's Done It Again Review: I saw this film in the Theater with my children, but now that it has been released on DVD, I jumped on the opportunity to add it to my collection. The image quality is excellent, as is the quality of the surround sound. Anyone who doesn't have a Dolby Digital setup doesn't know what they are missing! The story is wonderfully presented and the animation techniques are inspired. All three of my children (ages 1, 2 and 5) were awestuck through the entire movie, as was I. The movie flows along nicely and the 3D animation effects need to be seen in action to be believed. This one is a true gem, I cried near the ending when Tarzan says goodbye to Kercheck - and I'm sure I will each time I see it. Get it before Disney pulls it and waits forever to re-release it!
Rating: Summary: Disney does it again. Review: I thought that Tarzan was just great. I have no children, but I go to every Disney movie that comes out. This one had everything. Adventure, danger, romance, comedy. Favorite scene: Jane being chased by the monkeys. I know people aren't going to like this, but, the only thing I didn't like was Rosie O'Donnell. I found her voice very obnoxious, way over the top and unnecessarily loud.
