Summary: Characters die in this movie!!!
Review: This movie is really about the laws of the jungle. Animals and humans get killed by other animals and humans.

I like this movie even more than the first Lion King. Yes, you heard me right, I said better that the Lion King. The story, songs, and animation are suberb. The ending will make to think about what true love really is.

Summary: Great Fun - Kids and Adults Will Both Enjoy This
Review: We own a lot (a LOT) of Disney animated DVDs, and our kids watch them often. Some (like Pocahontas and Hunchback of Notre Dame) get viewed once and then shelved because the music's crummy, the story's slow or dumb, and the kids just don't want to see them again. Tarzan, though, gets viewed again and again. Thank goodness it's a great, watchable story. Lots of action, wonderful job by Minnie Driver voicing Jane, pretty good Phil Collins music, all combine to make this an enjoyable watch. I'd recommend it to anybody looking for a good gift for young kids.

Summary: Me Tarzan, You UnImpressed
Review: This movie just doesn't cut the mustard. It's like they were sitting around thinking, O.K. Guys, we got to get a movie out this season... Yeah, o.k. Well, how about Tarzan??? Yeah, but be quick about it.

It just falls flat. There is some violence/scary scenes... The leopards chasing the family for one. Disney is particularly bad about this sort of this. I sometimes wonder if they forget they make films for CHILDREN. [Pinochino, for example, I think should be banned from view of children... The donkey scene where the boy cries for his mother is too much for a child.] At any rate, this is by no means the worst in that genre. But, it's not that entertaining. Pass this one up in favor of better films.

Summary: Wonderful Viewing
Review: He replied to my e-mail within the hours! However, the DVD I got did not have the same cover as advertised and the special features listed on the back of the case were not displayed when I activated the bonus features. But, all I really wanted was the movie, which was in excellent shape, although I would have liked to have seen the special features. I would definately do business with this seller again!

Summary: Tarzan
Review: This is a good animated feature from Disney. The animation is quite good especially the scenes of Tarzan swining through the trees. Like many of Disney's recent animation it combines some element of drama. The score features great music from Phil Collins especially the Oscar wining "You'll be in my heart". The opening sequence may be disturbing for small children especially the scene were a jaguar kills a baby gorilla. In general it it a good family film.

Summary: Best use of CG to date, visually rich and lush, great music!
Review: This movie comes alive combining well inked and colored panels and excellent CG, that is an improvement over techniques used in Mulan made the prior year. This is a strong story with great characters and we rank it 8th of the now 50 Disney animated films that we own. This is also some of the best music we have seen since Lion king and Beauty and the Beast. The bad guy is very bad without being darkly so as in Hunchback of ND. This may not end up as one of the new classics that, say Aladdin or Lion King have become, but this is one of Disneys best effort.

Summary: Jungle boogie
Review: "Tarzan" is the best animated adventure since "The Lion King"! Not only does it have family drama, laughter, love, and five new songs by Phil Collins, but it offers young boys a viable role model for the emotional conflicts of adolescence.

One opposable thumb down. Disney breaks with its own traditions with this lushly animated retelling of Edgar Rice Burroughs's famous tale of an Englishman raised by apes: It's wildly kinetic, overtly violent and hardly a musical at all.

The story begins as a shipwrecked infant is orphaned in Africa when his parents are devoured by a leopard. There are no Africans in this Africa, but there is a colony of anthropomorphic apes that happen to speak English (at least to one another), live in social groups and love their children not unlike their European counterparts.

Soon after her baby is devoured by a leopard, gentle gorilla Kala (voiced by Glenn Close) happens upon the blood-smeared tree house of the shipwrecked English couple and saves their orphaned son from becoming leopard lunchmeat. Kala takes the hairless creature back to her gorilla nest where, deaf to the intolerance of her neighbors and gorilla patriarch Kerchak (Lance Henriksen), she names him Tarzan and raises him as her own.

Tarzan grows up happy but senses something's not quite right: Mom's awfully dark and hairy, and her thumb's in the wrong place. Worse, Tarzan can't win the acceptance of "father" Kerchak.

As Tarzan matures into a young man (Tony Goldwyn) with the instincts and athletic prowess of a jungle animal, his idyllic habitat is invaded by British visitors, including fortune-hunting Clayton (Brian Blessed), a well-meaning primatologist (Nigel Hawthorne) and most notably his dotty daughter Jane (Minnie Driver) all who initially pose a threat to the sanctity of the jungle. Quickly realizing that Jane is more like him than any other animal he's ever seen, he's immediately intrigued - and far too curious.

Meanwhile, Tarzan courts disaster when he tries to integrate "his own kind" into the ape clan.

Ostensibly it's about a mother's unconditional love. That much is predictable from the Edgar Rice Burroughs classic. Yet there's a lot that's new here. Tarzan no longer just swings on vines; he also glides through the trees like a skateboard surfer on safari. And Cheetah's been replaced by annoyingly brash, comical Terk (Rosie O'Donnell).

But, even deeper, this Tarzan is an adolescent in search of his own identity, wondering: Who am I? What am I? And, most important, where do I belong? It's a coming-of-age comedy-drama, not unlike "The Lion King," and the thoughtful, sensitive conclusion differs from the traditional tale.

This "Tarzan" is a timely, triumphant 10. He's a hero for our times: a cool guy who seeks harmony and acts from the heart, utterly devoid of machismo.

Parents should be warned about the frequent gunfire and a grisly death by hanging.

Summary: Excellent modern Disney animated movie!
Review: This is such an amazing re-telling of Edgar Rice Burrough's popular story about an abandoned human child who was raised by Gorillas in Africa now is grown up and discovers others that like his his kind including a beautiful young professor's daughter named "Jane" ( Minnie Driver), and is being taught to be like a human then stop a evil poacher named "Clayton".

Brilliant animation with excellent visuals and backgrounds, good voice acting with Rosie O'Donnel, Minnie Driver, Tony Goldwyn, Wayne Knight, and Niegel Hawthrone with a stunning soundtrack by Phil Collins makes this a movie you must see.
