Summary: "Can we panic now?"
Review: For lovers of the book, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is yet another wonderful adaptation true to Rowling's text. While some elements (such as the Deathday Party) must be cut for time limits, the most charming elements are still present -- the annoying self-pushing Gilderoy Lockhart, the fantastic climax in the Chamber, the encounter with the Whomping Willow, and our introduction to the sinister Lucius Malfoy, who makes his son Draco look like a kitten in contrast.The story hinges around a premise of prejudice which is slowly seeping into Hogwarts. Harry and his friends must solve the mystery of why some of their fellow students are winding up Petrified by an unknown "monster" said to be controlled by the Heir of Slytherin. In the meantime, Harry must deal with a new adversary on the Quidditch field, a bothersome house-elf, an annoying new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, and his own fears that he might partially be responsible. The children have really grown into their roles. Daniel Radcliffe seems right at home portraying everyone's favorite little wizard. Emma Watson's Hermione is beautiful, intelligent, and a joy to watch. But it's Rupert Grint who will have you laughing into the night with his charming, utterly predictable Ron Weasley, who has an aversion to spiders and a newly broken wand that likes to backfire. The film builds to an intense climax with a shocking conclusion and leaves you breathless for the next movie adaptation and the joys it will behold for the faithful fan. The DVD is of the highest quality with good sound, excellent transition to widescreen, and some nice features. There are several cast interviews, an interesting documentary on how the films are made, and a great interview with the screenwriter and J.K. Rowling herself. The only thing missing is the director's commentary. Perhaps by the time "The Prisoner of Azkaban" hits rental stores, Warner Bros will have understood that the grownups in the audience would appreciate a good commentary or two. Overall it's a great disk of an even better story.

Summary: Columbus Does it Again
Review: Chris Columbus has done it again! The Chamber of Secrets is even better than its predecessor. It has more humor and action than before. The music captures the moment in almost every scene. The basilisk and Fawkes look absolutely real and the visuals have improved. The Quidditch match is action-packed and the scene in which Harry fights the basilisk is thrilling. I have nothing negative to say. I simply love this film.

Review: I ordered this DVD in widescreen format. The sound was of very poor quality, as was the picture. I kept adjusting the tracking and the volume, but in the end I ended up throwing both discs away. It was a waste of money. Other Harry Potter DVDs have been okay, but not this-- actually, everything's just a lie-- this is a great movie.

Review: Harry Potter's second year at Hogwarts has a more interesting story line than the first because it brings more characters in to blend in with the original characters. It also has a different ending, just like the first. In most Harry Potter films, the beginning and middle don't even try to build up to the end.

Review: The second Harry Potter movie lives up the first one but some magic was lost. I still loved it! I loved the innocence of Harry and Ron and the way that they are friends with Hermione. Just a great movie for all young and old!
Harry gets help in going back to school although a house elf named Dobby doesn't want him to. As he knows that Harry is in great danger! But Harry is saved by Ron and the Wesely brothers come and save him in the flying car...which is cool shown on screen. And we begin Harry's second year at Hogwarts. I loved this movie...full of action and fantasy. There are many things we learn about Harry in this movie such as someone is a parseltounge. If you read the books you will already know what happens but it is neat to see how someone else sees the same thing you did. And if you haven't read the book and loved the first movie I think you will be happy with one as it give you insight into Harry and will help with future books and movies.

Summary: Bad movie adaptation means bad director
Review: This is a failure of a movie and of a book adaptation. Yes, I'm aware they were faithful to the book, but trying to fit the whole book into two hours and a half is a bad idea. It was full of scenes that made no difference to the plot and you are forced to watch. This movie does not have a inch of the spirit of the books. What happened to the magic? Why do the kids have flashlights to go to the forest? They can produce the lumos charm. It seems like in a lot of scenes they do stuff the "muggle" way. What happened to Hogwarts? We just see a corridor in Hogwarts in this movie, the great hall and a few classes; they could have used some of their money to build a prettier Hogwarts. What I'm trying to say is, the magic of the book and the spirit of the book are lost in the unnecessary scenes of the movie. The special effects are pretty bad compared to all the money that they have. Most of the things in the movie are fake robots that are way to obvious that aren't real. Fake robot Whomping Willow, fake robot Hedwig the owl, fake robot Basilisk. Fawkes one of the creatures that are computer animated doesn't look too real but doesn't look as bad as the fake robot stuff. They also add a lot of horrible stuff to the movies like the flying car almost being hit by the school train and Harry falling out of the car. These things are stupid and down right corny. There are also a lot of other corny scenes throughout the movie, which will make you laugh, like the ending, which I will not spoil because of the corny fun. It shows that director Chris Columbus (which is know for his corny children flicks) cannot handle emotional scenes so well. I gave this film 2 stars because the story is really good (but that is because of JK Rowling) and it may be fun for your child. It is one of those films that become really boring after watching more than three times.

This movie really captured the spirit of the book, in much the same way as the first movie did.
Barely anything was left out, and as usual the sets, costumes and casting was top notch. Is there any better cast in recent times than Alan Rickman as Snape? Superb!!! He is awesome.
The magic has been captured superbly on the screen, and I love the character development.
The movie lends itself well to the small screen.
Most poeple already know the plot, so I won't say too much , except that if you have been living in a time capsule for the last few years- treat yourself to an experience by trying a Harry Potter book or movie. They really are wonderful for children and adults alike.

Review: But we certainly must. A large improvement on the first, Chamber of Secrets is a dark and brooding trip into Hogwarts' dark secrets.
With an improved cast (Kenneth Branagh provides his talents as the narcissistic Gilderoy Lockhart and Jason Issacs as the malicious Lucius Malfoy) and better script (more time with Harry alone instead of with Ron and Hermione) makes this movie more enjoyable for adults while still providing fun for children.
The set designs are quite interesting and the creatures sometimes disturbing. Severe phobics of spiders or snakes should NOT watch this. I've been eye-witness when several teenagers had to walk out while I watched it. I suggest kids 8 and older so long as they aren't scared of large spiders or snakes.
