Review: The first Harry Potter movie was a flop. This one is a triupmh.
It has improved itself in every area, from character development, to cinematography, to and especially in special effects, the best in my opinion since Jurassic Park.
This movie must be seen to be believed.

Summary: Watch till the very last credit rolls for extra footage!
Review: Since I have just finished rereading the book the night before we went to see the movie, I thought the sequences were a bit choppy. My fiance liked it a lot though and pointed out that no movies can ever be true to their origins. A lot of people usually leave when the end credits are rolling, but please be patient this time because you'll end up seeing something extra! We found out because I just NEEDED to know if Chris Columbus had dedicated this movie to the late Richard Harris...

Summary: Second 'Potter' Film is Enjoyable, But Nothing Special
Review: Much like with 'Men in Black 2', it felt as if I was watching the first film done over with different threats and supporting characters. That was a problem. The problem wasn't with the cast; everyone from the first film put in a solid performance (sadly, Harris' last). Radcliffe seems to be warming to his character, as are his co-stars. Kenneth Branagh is fun to watch as the ego-driven Lockhardt. Rickman, as awlays, plays Snape with a bit more glee this time (probably because he had a chance to mete out some Slytherin-
style whuppins). The problem, as I see it (and this is just an opinion folks) stems from the fact that while certain side stories were understandably and in most cases justifiably not included (ie: the Headless Hunt), those characters that were kept weren't fleshed out to the point where we knew enough to care about them. When the first-year snaps his photo of Harry, you assume he's a fan, but if you read the book you know a lot more about Harry's discomfort with his blossoming celebrity from this and other incidences. As well, the shop in which Harry finds himself as a result of a bad detour is the setting for quite a bit of drama which ties into the reasons behind the animosity between the senior Weasley and Malfoy. Not major flaws, but they are there. If anything, it seems as if Columbus has decided to focus on the action parts a little too much and less on new character development and sidestory. This was disappointing. To sum up: good eye candy, but not enough substance.

Summary: Harry Potter Awsome For All Ages
Review: I think this movie is excellent. I thought it was a little more suspenseful and I found it to be a lot more funnier than the first movie. Special effects were awsome! Hope they continue to follow Harry through all his years at Hogwarts.

Review: i just saw this movie this weekend, and it was great...bu what else wuld you expect from harry potter? it had really good special affects and stayed very true to the book. i highly reccomend thisto any fan of the book, or first film.

Summary: A terrific movie, in some ways even better than the book
Review: They got it about 85% right in the first Harry Potter movie; they got it 110% right in the second one. "Chamber of Secrets" is a marvelous fun-ride that in some ways outdoes the book. The cast is back, with one great, sinister addition. Harry is a deeper character this time around; he's stronger, more sure of himself, starting to realize his potential; he's going to be a force to be reckoned with. Ron is more grown-up now that he has his little sister Ginny to look after at school. Hermione is less whiny and know-it-all than she was in the first movie; she's nicer to have around this year. And a wonderfully malevolent addition to the cast this time around is Lucious Malfoy, Draco's evil father. We can see where the kid got his mean streak from; Dad is so evil he's almost demonic. The movie is a lot more fun to watch than the first one; we dispense with the boring muggles (after Dobby the house-elf has played havoc with the family by crashing a party and dropping a cake on a guest's head) and go zooming back to Hogwarts in a flying (stolen, but so what?) car. Wow, does it feel great to be back! Only this year, the Chamber of Secrets, a hidden room known only to its creator, Salazar Slytherin, and his star pupil, the young You-Know-Who, has been opened after fifty years, and the resulting mayhem threatens to close Hogwarts for good. The film runs for a good two and a half hours, but at such a clip that it seems a fraction of that time. The special effects are better than they were in the first movie and add to the excitement. What really makes "Chamber of Secrets" a better movie than its predecessor is that while "Sorcerer's Stone" seemed to keep looking over its shoulder to make sure it was following the book correctly, "Chamber" just kicks back and has a ball; this movie knows where it's going and it takes us along for a thrilling ride. One walks out of the theater wanting to walk right back in and see it all over again.

Summary: Second Harry Potter Film Keeps the Magic
Review: The film starts as Harry and Ron fly their car to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and they begin their second year. They meet their new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Gilderoy Lockhart (Kenneth Branaugh), a silly, egotistical fraud. Mrs. Norris (the cat), Hermione, Colin, and Nearly Headless Nick are mysteriously petrified, and Ron's sister Ginny is kidnapped and taken to a legendary room called the "Chamber of Secrets." As Harry and Ron try to find out who is behind all this, they encounter scary, giant spiders and a monstrous snake. Harry even meets a 16-year old Lord Voldemort, who attended Hogwarts 50 years ago. Harry triumphs over evil with with remarkable courage in a finale that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Daniel Radcliffe shines as 12-year old Harry, the orphan-hero. He is much more confident and an all-round better actor than in the first movie. Rupert Grint (Ron) gets all the funny lines and makes a lot of very funny faces. Emma Watson (Hermione) has a much smaller part this time, but is also very comfortable in front of the camera. Jason Isaacs is the villian you love to hate, Lucius Malfoy. The late Richard Harris, as Dumbledore, looks ill, indeed, but plays the grandfatherly protector well. Sadly, we see very little of Alan Rickman ( as nasty Professor Snape) and not nearly enough of Kennth Branaugh (Gilderoy Lockhart). This film will appeal to HP fans, although probably too scary for those under 8. If you like action-packed plots and special effects, you will not be disappointed. I did miss the sweet, sentimental moments of the first movie (like the Mirror of Erised). This movie is all action, all the time. The special effects are much better this time, and Daniel Radcliffe emerges as a real screen star. You'll like The Chamber of Secrets!

Summary: Pure movie bliss
Review: Since I cant really put my joy of this movie into words, I'm just going to do a "Quikie" review:
The Good:
1. The Baskilisk sequence. This sequence alone is worth the admission price
2. The action: A destructive tree, gigantic spiders and a 60 foot long snake battle make this film much more exciting then the first one
3. Rons line about the spiders: I wont give this hysterical line away, but Ron makes a very funny quote after they leave Hagrids hut 3/4th of the way through the move 4. The acting: Harry, Ron, Herminoe, Hagrid and all the charachters are very well done. Ginny could use more development though.
5. The special effects: This film could compete with star wars at some parts.
6. Its a harry potter film the bad:
1. The film might seem a bit rushed, but it is still excellent.
2. The ending is a bit odd, I wont give it away, but you wonder "Why him?" And the Ugly:
1. Are you kidding me? Okay, um........the film is only about 2 and a half hours long. Summary: A better, more action packed sequel. Some people might complain about lack of charachter development, but that was what the first film was for. Absoloutly Worth watching

Summary: 18 years old and still loving it
Review: Great movie, great books. I recommend this a must for any Harry Potter fan. If you haven't seen it yet, get out there! Better graphics, better acting, new characters and old rivalry. This also delves into the prejudice that even a magical world experiences. It provides hours of fun( literally!) but any HP fan can take it and leave wanting more. Awesome buy!
