Summary: one to watch
Review: ok so i may be 16 soon to turn 17 but i went to see this film with a bunch of mates as there was nothing all that interesting on other than films we had already seen, and to be honest i thought that it was an excellent film, made well, great acting and the effects kicked ....definately aimed at the younger children but still a hit with all the age ranges i think this is why it has become such a big hit with everyone. the stotyline is strong and even though it's a sequel and people tend to think that sequels lose that special something that the original had, take dusk til dawn, great film poor sequel the same for the scream movies although i personally thought that the second film wasnt that bad, although the third was the worst most poorly constructed film of the three, probably of that year. anyway i would recomend this film to anyone that is even interested and curious, ant to those who arent you dont know what you are missing

Summary: Weaker Story But Not Bad
Review: "The Chamber of Secrets" is a excellent representation of the novel. No unnecessary plot changes so the "purists" will be pleased. The cast is made of the same delightful kids that made the first movie such fun. I would judge the novel as the weakest of the series, but still it is a lot of fun. The acting on the part of the kids is much improved, and the addition of the new characters adds to the production quality. While some of the technical and special effects could have been "hotter" they served their purpose and did not detract from the presentation. The four stars I give the movie would be the compromise of 5 stars for acting and presentation of a 3 star book. With the death of Richard Harris last year, the next movie must suffer some from inconsistancy with our preconcetion of Prof. Dumbledoor, But as Ian Mclellon (Gandolph from The Lord of The Rings) is rumored to have accepted the part for the "Prisoner Of Alkazam" we can look forward to continued fun. There is some doubt about the cast of the third movie Kids parts but I am sure that some renegotiations will solve that. Overall a fun all-ages movie well worth adding to a home library.

Summary: Good Pure Fun
Review: I actually did not want to watch this movie when it came out and in fact did not watch it until weeks later. I saw the first Harry Potter and enjoyed it but after seeing Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter fell to the wayside. But after seeing this, I realized why Harry Potter is such a success. This movie was just great fun. The special effects were great, the actors charming, and the whole experience was just fun fun fun. Great movie.

Summary: Yuck! Better than the first but....
Review: I'm a big fan of the Harry Potter books, but they shouldn't have made movies based on the books. The first movie was absolutely terrible. Chamber of Secrets was my favorite book out of the first four, but they slaughtered it in this movie. The beginning was okay (Dobby is adorable!) but as soon as Harry got to school, the movie took a turn for the worse.
They messed up the sequence of events from the time Harry found the cat, Mrs. Norris, hanging from the wall to the time Harry goes to see the spider, Aragon. It would've been much better if they followed the book.
Also, in the book, it told A LOT more about Ron's little sister Ginny. In the movie it seemed mysterious that Ginny would do such a thing since you know almost nothing about her.
The last big mess-up was in the chamber scene.The chamber seemed too "perfect." It seemed to me that J.K. Rowling described the chamber much different than it was in the movie.
I found two good points among the many bad things. Number 1: they've got an excellent actor playing Harry's enemy, Professor Snape. Number 2: the movie has wonderful, enchanting music. But, that's what soundtracks are for.
So, it wasn't the best movie. (But the soundtrack is probably good)

Summary: Comparing books to movies??
Review: I whole hearted agree, the Harry Potter books can not compare with the movies, BUT!!!, yes, there is always a but!! As an educator, I have seen so much resistance to reading in these days of competition, with TV, computer games, and all the problems with life in general_____if a child or adult sees one of the Harry Movies and is inspired enough to pick up one of the books____ I say "BRAVO" The movie has done it's job, it has opened up someone eyes to written knowledge of the world!!

Review: This movie was awesome! I thought it was so well done. It was almost exactly like the book. Somethings were left out but they weren't major things that ruined the movie. All the actors were great and well chosen. This movie was definately well worth the money and in my opinion I actually think this one was a little better than the first. Bet anyways this movie definately was magical!

Summary: Mixed feelings about the movie
Review: Chamber of Secres is my favorite among the Harry Potter books but I had mixed feelings about the film version. The special effects are eye popping and the pace is amazing for a film over 2 1/2 hours long. The actors, young and old, do a fine acting job and this is a good final bow for great British actor Richard Harris as Dumbledore. That said, the movie leaves something to be desired. I will try not to spoil anything with the plot, since these are basically mystery stories. In the book Rowlings carefully keeps certain characters in front of you or on the periphery so when you find out exactly what is happening and why, it makes sense. Rowlings is devious in her plotting and great with red herrings but she does play fair. In the Chris Columbus film there are important characters and plot elements that are shown once and do not recur until the very end. So if you don't know the book, when you reach the conclusion of this film I could see viewers going "Who was that again?" The adult characters in particular, mostly excellent British actors, seem to be having cameo roles when they play more important roles in the book (although Kenneth Branaugh is a wonderfully self centered Lockhart). I realize you cannot put any book onto the screen exactly. Things have to be rearranged or removed or the film will go on forever. So I do not mind that we see next to nothing of Neville Longbottom in this film - he is a rather unimportant character in this particular story. The result is a film that hits the important plot elements of the story but builds up little suspense or mystery. It has magical special effects but the real magic of Rowling's books remains elusive.

Summary: Harry, You Are Not So Scarey.. to me
Review: Not only did my ten year old child enjoy this video, I did as well. Although if you are squeamish, it is not for you. This story has snakes, and lots of them. I also enjoyed the flying car scene and the cute, little creature, who Harry gave his sock.
If I was still a kid,I guarantee you I'd be kinda dissappointed cuz Hermoine was sick & not in on alot of the action. (i e... Back when I was a kid, I watched Batman, & became upset when Batgirl wasn't in on the action.)Other than that...this video rocks.

Summary: Great film
Review: I cannot possibly say enough good things about Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. This movie totally blew away the first one in every possible way, and is easily one of the top movies to have come out last year--only Antwone Fisher can touch it. The friendships were sweet how they always stuck up for one another, the Quidditch match was awesome to see, everyone involved gave wonderful performances, the final showdown between Harry and the Basilisk was just cool, and the scenes with Hagrid, Dumbledore, Dobby and Fawkes the Phoenix were sweet and touching as well. This film is a masterpiece with a mix of just about everything--some frightening, touching and humorous scenes all joined together. I loved this movie and am very happy I got a chance to see it. I just cannot wait to finally own it on VHS. Highly recommended indeed, and to anyone who thinks this movie stunk and that the book was better is free to their opinion, of course, but all I have to say is that after watching this magnificent film, I can't even possibly imagine how the book could be any greater. By the way, I've never read any of the books, just seen the two films, but now I'm not exactly sure if I want to read them anyway. Harry Potter films all the way!!!

Summary: April 11th Can't Come Quick Enough!!!
Review: I knew this movie would be good. I skipped school to go see the first showing. I was that confident! As I left the movie theatre, I knew I had been right. This movie was an absolute thrill. It's been almost 3 months since I saw the movie and I can't hold out much longer. My anticipation is only inceased by knowing that Book 5 comes out 2 days before my birthday. Naturally I haven't seen the DVD yet with its 19 cut/extended scenes, interviews with the actors and (most profoundly)Joanne Kathleen Rowling herself! But I was right about the theatrical release wasn't I? For those of you who refrained from paying [$$$] to see it in the theatre (that's cool, I've done that with other films) I'll give you a brief rundown. Viewers of film 1 may recall how constrained and unreactive the younger actors are. Things happened and they just seemed to take it in stride. This is no longer the case in The Chamber of Secrets. Harry, Ron, and Hermonie show their emotions a lot more making the movie far more believable. The sets also seems much bigger. There are more classrooms and the climax moment when Lockhart, (excellently caste) Harry, and Ron go down to the Chamber just seem to expand the walls of Hogwarts. The Forbidden Forest,too, extends out into a greater and scarier frontier.
The Quidditch field is possibly the most noticable set that seems to have been cursed with an engorgment charm. There are more stands and there is a particularly exciting moment when the Golden Snitch leads Harry and Malfoy into the superstructure of the pitch. Important new members to the cast include, Professor Lockhart, Lucius Malfoy, and Tom Riddle. They all play their parts magnificently and behave as I thought they did in the book.
In short, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets adaptation to the screen was as faithful as the first, but was far more exciting.
