Summary: Loved it!
Review: Daniel Radcliffe is the only Harry Potter! I love this movie! I think most people, even people who are not H. P. fans, will love this movie. I give it 5 stars! A must-see!

Summary: Magic returns
Review: The magic is back and is the story is bigger and better than the first. The special effects have become better and so has the acting. Harry has returned to Hogwarts against the advice of Doby the elf. Ron and Herminoe are back to and so is Malfoy causing all sorts of trouble.

The sequel introduces more characters including Malfoy's father and Doby. The one character that is under used is Robbie Coltrane who is excellent as Hargid but doesnt get a lot of screen time. The story may be a little compilcated for younger children who have never read the books or seen the first film but will easily catch up because Harry seems to repeat everything thats said to him.

The second disc of the dvd is good for younger children and should keep them entertained for a few hours but for the older children they may become bored farly quickly. Compared to the dvd extras from from the first film there are a lot fewer and makes this second disc a bit of a let down as there are no interviews with the director and writers just J.K Rowilng and a few 2 minute chats with the main memebers of the cast.

Summary: What a delightful sequel!!!
Review: This movie is a delightful sequel to the first Harry Potter! You do not need to read the book to watch the movie but it is a great bonus! It contains more sports, adventure, and magic than the first!!! If you have not seen it yet, treat yourself!!!!

Summary: Harry Potter is great!
Review: Okay, to all of you "concerned parents" who think that Harry Potter ... this movie is just as good as the first... you can't expect everything from the movie... it was well done for all it had to convey. yes, the books are better, but when is the book ever worse than the movie?

altogether i liked this film a lot...

Summary: Love it!
Review: I liked the 1st movie a lot. BUT I LOVE THIS ONE!! I got it for my son, but I must admit that I love it. The FXs are great and the story is very good. My son likes it as well [he's 4yrs old] and was not scared by the spiders or snake. [Of course, now he wants a flying car... :) ]

Summary: Worse than Sorcer's Stone
Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was a lot better. The "Matured Daniel" has become better in acting. But the overall movie was worse than Sorcerer's Stone.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Gollum in Elm Street
Review: ...and by God was I right!
(See my review on the Philosopher's Stone)

What has happened in the time between the two Harry Potter movies? Hmmm.. Ah! yes of course! The Lord of the Rings has happened! And did they have this amazing, over-the-top achievement in CGI, called "the Gollum"? Yes sir, they did! And who was the first to shamelessly "borrow" the idea and bring it in their own movie? Chris Columbus and Co. for their next HP adventure of course.

I have to admit that this movie is a lot better than the first one. But that does not qualify for a good movie in general.
Borrowing a lot of elements from the horror genre, this one hopes to bring some chills to the children of the globe with the amazing MPAA looking completely the other way.

The story? ok, let's see....
Marty and Doc, oops sorry, Harry and Ron, climb on their flying car, to Hogwarts school, even after being advised not to, by a poorly executed Gollum impersonation. There, they stubmle upon a murdering beast that is set loose in the school, controlled by an evil entity which also controls an innocent student to... ... ...set loose and control the beast.(?)
The evil entity is using somebody else's body to do it's dirty deeds, much like (well the first that comes to mind) Freddy Krueger in Nightmare 2. This entity lives in a book and is risen when the book was read aloud.... Something of an Evil Dead kind of pilosophy.
It could actually be ok, if the "borrowing" stopped there.

But...
Let's not forget Star Wars, our main influence.
The Quiddich game, this time a little more elaborate, is an almost exact copy of the forrest chase in "Return of the Jedi", Leia on the Speeder-Bike and the Stormtroopers chasing her. And of course, the Hint of a love game, between NOT him that has the power, but the goofy sidekick, and the girl. At least in Star Wars they were siblings (Luke and Leia). What explanation is mrs. Rowling going to give for Ron and Hermione... who knows (I refuse to read the books.)
One of the major scenes in the movie includes a gigantic spider, much like "Shelob" of the LOTR, which did not make the final cut of the "Two Towers" and was reserved for the "Return of the King". The spider is almost named "Aragorn", ha ha!!
My 9 year old daughter remarked that the head of the giant snake, came right out of Jurassic Park's T-Rex. (She is 9 for christ's sake!)
And last but not least... the great climax scene...
I think it was the "Nightmare on Elm Sreet 3", where the school teacher went to the place they had buried Freddy's Skeleton, he had a fight with it, and then, when Nancy lay unconcious in front of the grave, he sprayed Holy Water on it, and the real Freddy burst in rays of pure light.

Hmmmm..... Jenny unconcious... the book.... the fang... bursts of light.... make the connection?

I give up. No more for this one...

To be continued.... (it always does...)

Summary: Not as good as Lord of the Rings
Review: OK this wasn't the worst movie I have seen, but dang they ruiend the book. the book WAS my fav. OK i still like the movie and the book but may i borrow a line from Ron "Bloody hell". OK i am the type of girl who likes action movies. Lord of the rings is my fav. Not that harry potter could measure up to LOTR. I mean j.k. rowling wrote h. p. for 10 year olds. j.r.r. tolkin wrote the books for ever one. Still they could have picked a hotter harry. Dang Orlando Bloom is hotter with green hair that harry with normal hair.

B movie C- actors

Summary: Very good movie
Review: This is a very nice movie. It is a little scary and violent(I don't think you should let little kids see the snake part).
The actors were really great too, and there's somthing good about all of them. Harry was heroic, Dumbledore was sweet, Hermione was cute, Ron was funny, Snape was cool and Malfoy was annoying(that's a good thing!). But I thought Lockhart should have been a liiitttlle more irritating, like in the book, where you can't stand him.
The special features DVD is worth watching too. This is a must have movie!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Fun film better than the first 4.5 stars
Review: I liked this film better than the first. I think what I enjoyed most about this film is that it captures much more of the story than the first film did. Mostly because it only has two new characters to introduce; Dobby the house elf, brilliantly animated and very realistic looking and Gilderoy Lockhart played macnificently by Kenneth Brannagh. I was thrilled with everyone's performance in this film and the DVD has some great deleted scenes to watch. I just wish maybe they would consider taking these scenes and doing like Lord of the Rings and releasing extended versions of all the films so we can get more of the story!
What I like the most about this DVD is that you don't have to play any stupid games to get to the extras! Although these discs seems much skimpier on extras than the the first set, there is no making of film or interviews except some short questions answered in one section. I'd really like to see some more conversations with Kenneth Brannagh, Daniel, Rupert, Emma and the rest of the cast. Although, the interview with JK and the script writer was fun.
So I give the film 4.5 stars and the discs about 3.5 stars for the lack of any really interesting extras except the deleted scenes.
