Summary: the best book ever
Review: The serpant really got me fired up and I enjoyed watching Harry strike Malfoy at the dueling match. I also think parsel tongue is cool, after watching the movie I kept on reapeting aia hasiheth (parsel tongue) for a week. I give this film 4 stars.

Review: I was suprised when I watched this. I usually dont like movies like this, but it was VERY good! All the actors were great(except Harry Potter-I think he could have acted better). Would definately watch again and looking forward to the rest!

Summary: Darker, longer, and better than the first
Review: "Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets" is the proof that children's movies can be a)long and b)faithful to the source material. The film is obviously made for fans of the book, and it follows the plot of the novel to a degree of exactitude that is rarely seen in Hollywood adaptations. This is a testament to the good working relationship that is said to exist between book author J.K. Rowling and screenwriter Steve Cloves. Working together they crafted a script that captures the adventure and wonder of the novel, and build on the already well-realized world created in the first film.The plot details are familiar, boy wizard goes to wizard school, has his two best friends, has a nemesis, fights off evil, etc. The best part about the second film is that the overly clunky exposition needed to set up the first film is no longer necessary, so the action starts almost immediately. Director Chris Colombus shows range here that he has not shown since his early days as a director, and he is obviously good with children, as all three main child actors turn in top-notch permormances. Daniel Radcliffe especially has improved his acting ability since the first film, while the solid work from Emma Watson as Hermoine and Rupert Grint as Ron continues. The film is darker in tone and plot, as lives are threatened and murder discussed, but it is also contains better effects, funnier lines, and maintains the sense of wonder that the first film created. The adult actors are also excellent, with another strong turn by Alan Rickman as Prof. Snape and Robbie Coultrane keeps Hagrid interesting without becoming a charactaure. The late Richard Harris also does a fine job as Prof. Dumbledore. Especially good is Kenneth Branagh as Gilderoy Lockhart, the self-obsessed Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Branagh sends up his own flamboyant image and gets a lot of laughs as the not as clever as he thinks Lockhart. As said before the special effects here are far superior to the first film, probably because they used ILM. Quidditch here seems less like the video game than it did in the first film, and Hogwarts itself seems more alive than before. The production design is great, and the filmakers know when the setting should be dark or light. As said, it's a long film, but it is never dull, and it should keep any child entertained. The DVD also contains 19 deleted scenes, although only 2 or 3 are really intersting. Documentaries and walk-throughs of classrooms ae included for the kids, and there is a pretty illuminating interview with JK Rowling and Steve Kloves, discussing the writing process. All in all, this is a terrific DVD and film. Anyone who loves the books or loves fantasy should pick it up.

Summary: Great for kids, harry potter fans, and adults too-
Review: The second installment in the Harry Potter Series is this DVD adapted from the book of the same name. Most people know the story of Harry Potter- he is an orphan boy whose parents were killed by an evil wizard when he was just a baby. Harry finds out he is a wizard also and is taken to wizard school. Hogwarts is being terrorized by a mysterious monster who lives in the chamber of secrets and harry must do find out how to save his friends who have been petrified by the monster. This is a simplied plot but the beauty of this DVD is many. 1. Faithfulness to the book- Harry potter fans will not be disappointed. The scenes in this book are awesome, bringing to life the unique world of HP.
2. Lots of DVD extras- including a brief synopsis of Year one, spellcasting, extra scenes etc
3. Crazy enchanting characters- like Dobby the house elf, This DVD seemed geared for kids, but adult fans of the series will enjoy this film adaptation- but as always, the book is better--read the book first!!!

Summary: Not true to the feel of the book
Review: As someone who, unlike most of my fellow reviewers, actually LIKED the first movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, I admit I was disappointed by this movie. Let's face it: a movie will never be the story the book was, and I suppose this movie is perfect--for people who didn't read the books. My biggest disappointment was how dark this movie was in comparison with the first. The book wasn't like that-there were so many extraordinarily funny moments in the book, which were reduced in this movie to just a couple sound bites that really failed to do justice to the overall sentiment of the book. And while many scenes, in spite of differing in small ways from the book's description, were positively perfect (I offer the dueling training scene in defense of this claim), other scenes seemed to favor excitement over accuracy. In the Quidditch scene, for example, Malfoy is able to keep pace with Harry through some exceptionally difficult flying, and yet, wasn't Malfoy supposed to have made a fool of himself out there on the field? Even if you didn't read the book, while you may enjoy the fast-pace of the movie, you just might find that despite its exceptional length, many of the important discussions were too rushed to the point of almost incomprehensibility (consider Harry's meeting with Tom Riddle at the end).
As for casting, I loved everyone, as usual. Beware: Harry and Ron's voices have very much deepened, though you'll grow used to this during the course of the movie. Lockhart could not have been better cast! It's worth watching, and I own the DVD-but just make sure you keep your expectations low while you're watching it.

Review: While there were many things that were missing from this movie that were included in the book, you will not notice their lack. As far as following the main storyline of the novel and the dialogue, it is an excellent carry over. If you enjoyed the novels or the first film, then this is a must see.

Summary: Another Great Harry Potter Movie!
Review: I thought that this movie stayed pretty true to the book. Of course, most books are better than the movie, and this is no exception and that is why I gave this movie 4 stars. I love the characters, and it is so wonderful to actually see things on the screen. It was so great that all the characters from the first movie were also in this one. I do think that some of the images might be too graphic for younger kids, especially the final "fight/battle" scene. All in all, it's another great edition to the Harry Potter movie series!
