Summary: Heroic Masterpiece
Review: This movie seems to approach the ideal of the word 'hero' in mythical terms better than any movie I can name. There are moments that are so extraordinary, so unexpectedly unique. Christopher Reeve is perfect as Superman. Nothing against Dean Cain and the other actors who have portrayed the Man of Steel, but Reeve stands alone on the summit here. The supporting cast is excellent as well, but without Reeve's convincing performance, this movie would never have 'flown'. It may be, or should be, that someday cinema fans will look back on this film and realize how much of a masterpiece it really is. Or maybe not. Maybe it is just me and my personal taste. At any rate, this will be a movie I will always enjoy. FIVE STARS

Summary: AWESOME
Review: Cool. That is what I have to say about this movie. It is by far the best superman movie. The story line is great. Everything is great. Exept for mageret kidder as lois lane. Christopher reeves did a great job. The origin is awesome. But the movie does have a little nudity. It showes clark when he is a baby nude. If you haven't seen the movie you don't know what you are missing. gene hackman plays a good bad guy. Otis is a little funny. I love the part where superman flys around the world and turns back time so lois dosn't die.

Summary: It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a great movie...
Review: Great movie and terrific introduction to the big screen for the Man of Steel. One of the great scenes in movie history is the rescue of Lois Lane, dangling from a helicopter. Way to go, Superman! The film has great effects, fantastic music, and a good plot. The characterizations and dialogue are SUPERb. The only annoying aspect of the movie is the prolonged comedic sequences re: Lex Luthor and his henchpeople. This prevents it from getting 5 stars. Otherwise, the movie is a classic, and the selection of Chris Reeve as the Man of Steel is perfect.

Summary: A worthy attempt
Review: A very difficult undertaking, this film came off very well. Many complain that it takes too long for it to get off the ground, but I rather like the slowness to it. There's an expectation that for a film like this, you're going to have to cover the bases and develop characters, background, history, etc. The effects for the time are very solid and Reeve does a bang-up job as Superman. In compilations of bext movie scenes ever, the helicopter rescue sequence is right up there with pure adrenaline. Despite the ridiculous sequence involving Superman literally making the world go back in time by spinning the planet in reverse direction, the film is enjoyable. Great perfomances by all.

Summary: SUPERMAN IS A GREAT FILM BUT NOT THE BEST I'VE SEEN
Review: I liked SUPERMAN a lot but at times I thought it could've been better. For instance I felt that at the time the story sometimes got off the track of who SUPERMAN is. The diolouge between he and LOIS LANE is at times a little too much like a soap-opera that really isn't what SUPERMAN in my opinion is really about don't get me wrong there are a lot of fantastic effects and CHIRSTOPHER REEVE, MARGOT KIDDER and GENE HACKMAN are excellent in thier roles but I think there could've been a little better writing of the script and some editing of some silly scenes just watch and find out what they are. But not to fault it SUPERMAN I'm sure was an enormous undertaking by RICHARD DONNER and he does the most with it. All in all just have a good time watching this film like I mostly did.

Summary: A true epic that will touch all
Review: Superman is with no doubt the best fantasy movie of the century. Legend actors Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, and Margot Kidder take the screen in the best of the four. With nothing else to say, Superman is for all who believe in heros.

Summary: One of the Best!!!
Review: Here's where it all began! Kal-el is rocketed to earth by his father and found by Martha and John Kent. As years go by, Clark Kent(Kal-el) moves to Metropolis. Threre, he is confronted by the diabolical Lex Luthor, with an evil scheme and surprise for the Man of Steel! Reeve and Hackman are the best in this film! Anyone can enjoy this one!!!

Review: Christopher Reeves did a super jop of playing Superman. It's for Superman fans of all ages.

Summary: An Americana Classic
Review: The movie itself is worthy of the five stars, and no doubt the DVD version lives up its hype. After years of watching the fuzzy pan & scan monstrosity that was the video version of the movie, I rushed to see SUPERMAN at a midnight movie house near me when they ran one of the prints WB sent out for their 75th birthday a couple of years ago. It holds up so well -- the scenes in Krypton dole out backstory with ease and Brando adds dramatic weight (ahem) as Jor El. The Smallville scenes are touching. The Daily Planet feels real. Superman's first night out saving the rampaging chopper is a brilliant action sequence. Supe and Lois' night time flight through the clouds is haunting (with just the right note of camp in Kidder's voice over). The introduction to Lex Luther / Otis / Miss Tesmacher is just the right shot of comedy to pick up the second half of the movie. The finale is an awesomely impressive combination of effects and personal drama. Christopher Reeve is scary good with his roaring grief over Lois' near-death. This one, unlike the others that followed, has an actual MESSAGE that tracks throughout the story about the dangers of Supe intervening in the course of human events. The performances are dead on -- Kidder is so good its amazing she didn't become a huge actress after this. Hackman is infinitely better than Nicholson in BATMAN (which does NOT hold up). Any one sequence in this movie can be watched in and of itself, or over and over again.
