Summary: A decent DVD, but not really enough for the adult fans
Review: The down side of this DVD is that the extras seem to be aimed more at kids than adults. I would have liked to see more about the making of the movie - how the F/X were done, the location choosen to be Hogwarts, etc. If you are a fan of the Harry Potter books, you will find the look of the movie to be just as your imagination might have built it. The casting is abosolutely first rate - Emma Watson as Hermione was perfect, as was Alan Rickman as Snape. The one downfall of the movie seems to be a general failure to capture the magic of the story.

Summary: What the...?
Review: Hmmm. This is one of the most financially successful movies ever made, based on the equally successful line of books by J. K. Rowling. I'm puzzled by the popularity of this film; the plot is rambling and never really gives the viewer time to get to know the main characters. As such, I found I didn't particularly care about what happened to them. The actors did a fine job (given the material they had to work with), but it just seemed empty to me.

Movies based on books always have to omit huge amounts of material but it seems like the characters suffered the most in this adaptation. I'd much rather have had less of the sportplayed with flying broomsticks (and the giant chess game) and much more characterization.

Summary: A Classic!
Review: An absolutely wonderful movie. I love the books and thought I would be disappointed but I wasn't. There were certain changes but the look was right on target. The actors were perfect for the roles. Kudos to the entire cast!
An instant classic!

Summary: A wonderful translation of the big screen version
Review: although the movie loses something on the small screen...it was wonderful to be able to watch certain scenes again and again. Most notably the Chess scene which was brilliant.

Summary: Nice DVD
Review: My daughter complained about this movie because it wasn't EXACTLY like the book. I found it to be a fun movie from start to finish. Nice DVD package with lots to do.

Summary: Magical family entertainment
Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone stays faithful to the popular book which inspired it (though sometimes a little too faithful), and creates a magical film that everyone in the family can enjoy.

Bringing the text of J.K. Rowling alive is an excellent cast and superbly designed set and props. Without any major changes or exclusions, fans of the books along with those un-read in the adventures of Harry Potter should enjoy this flick. The celluloid world authentically feels like the words Rowling wrote. Daniel Radcliffe is great as Potter, and the young actors playing Ron and Hermione are equally as astonishing. But it's the late Richard Harris who is most notable, perfectly cast as Dumbledore the headmaster. The wisdom in his eyes reflects the genius of the head wizard.

The one flaw this film has, however, is its straightforward adaptation. With hardly any changes made from the book, the film seems too rushed and crowded with characters and events. When adapting from a book, the movie should take scenes and characters that work in the transfer to the different medium, and change events or scenes that don't work. That which works in a book, doesn't necessarily work in a movie. Comparing this to Lord of the Rings, Fellowship of the Ring, which came out at the same time and is another fantasy adaptation, it's easy to see that Potter wasn't quite as successful in the adaptation process as that movie, which knew what it had to change and delete in order to make it work on the big screen.

But despite that problem, this film still works as a whole. It's magical, beautiful and perfect for the whole family. Kids will love seeing their favorite characters come alive and see first hand the wonderful world of Harry Potter.

Summary: One Word: Magical
Review: This movie was definately one of the best movies that i have seen. I am a huge fan of the books...and i think that this movie faithfully followed the book and the cast was excellent! I also suggest for everyone to go see the second movie which is in theatres now because it is spectacular.

Summary: Harry Potter......Myth or a Legend
Review: Well, neither because that movie is perhaps the most adventure/action movie I have ever seen with some kids in it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: good enough to make you read the books
Review: Thinkg this was only for children I came in with low expectations left with anew favorite movie. Harry Potter tells the story of a young boy who doesnt realize it yet but is a great wizard. When he gets to Hogwarts academy for wizards extrimly strange things begin to happen, including a evil uncle which wants to destroy Harry for good. I am excited about the new one to see what will happen next.
