Summary: ehhh.... SUCKS!!
Review: first things first... ARGHEEAAA!!! Terrible movie!!! How can the name Harry Potter even go on this DVD???? I loves the books... and even tho the movie was pretty true 2 them... they just weren't interpreted right. I'll just say this out... all the kid actors were terrible. And if u want 2 see a good fantasy film.. thats also tru 2 the books... watch The Lord of the Rings.

Summary: The Book is Better than the Movie
Review: It's a great movie for fans, even though it leaves out some important stuff from the book. I would go buy it right now if i were you.

Summary: Very Faithful Adaption of the book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is very faithful to the book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has terific acting, great direction, and a very good story. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was that the visuals were not that great and I like the darker scope of the second better.Despite its flaws(of which there are few),It is a very faithful adaption.Potter fans should be pleased!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Harry Potter fan
Review: We love the movies and the books. We were very disappointed in this DVD though, becaue it comes in a paper holder. We really prefer the nice plastic DVD holders. My husband was so disappointed that I think he's going to order another one so that he can get the plastic holder.

Summary: Chris Columbus!...You need to seek psychiatric help!
Review: Harry Potter is a story series that leads to the dark side of the human psychy.
It clouds the judgement of fans who read the books, and watch those two movies.
I assume that those who gave this movie five stars are deluding themselves into Harry Potter, and need to get a life, or else, they will be locked up for the rest of their lives in an insane asylum for which they'd never fully recover.
I know because when I read the books, and heard the first two movies of this series, I sensed a grave disturbance of darkness pulling at those who watch them, and lead into a place of everlasting destruction. The acting in this movie, and the directing are done by psychopaths who need to get a life. If you want better acting, then go see Lord Of The Rings.

Stay away from this!

Summary: Good, with reservations
Review: Clever actors, nice visually, and good timing: this film would be worth five stars were it not for a couple of really worrying ideological problems. The first is something that is found in the books, and which the filmmakers have translated all too faithfully onto the screen - namely, any objectionable character is always portrayed as physically repulsive: Harry's adopted father and brother are overweight, Snape is dark-eyed and greasy-haired, professor Quirrel stutters and has long nails (!) and even the otherwise kind giant Hagrid is demonstrated to be dangerously feckless. The arch-villain Voldemort is so deformed as to be barely human. In other words, there is an underlying body-fascism in this film that kids really don't need.

More gravely, the narrative is a classical good-versus-bad story in which anything that Harry does is per definition good, and anything a bad character does is per definition bad. The most glaring example: when Harry is about to embark on his first Quidditch match, he admits to being scared, and is assured that that is all right. Not very long afterwards, Harry himself teases Malfoy for being scared! There is a double standard in this film which is frankly hypocritical and encourages children to think in simplistic terms. Wouldn't it be nice if someone could actually produce entertainment for children that was deliberately thought-provoking?

Summary: Pure magic!
Review: HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE is nothing but pure magic! We are as amazed as Harry is as we are introduced to the wizard world like never before with eye-popping special effects, a story that NEVER becomes the least bit boring, and a GREAT adaptation of a marvelous novel! It's also got some of the best child actors I've ever seen! So, yeah, it may be long, bit it's so good you just don't want it to end!!! I remember when I saw it in the theater and when it was over, I said to my girlfriend, "That was so short!" So, if you want a taste of nothing but magic, suspense, great acting and a great story, DEFINATELY SEE THIS!

Summary: Off to see the wizards
Review: A young orphan, Harry Potter, is rescued from the taunts and humilation of his cruel relatives when he is sought out by Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and discovers he is the son of two legendary conjures who were victims of the evil Lord Voldemort. He spends time in between classes seeking out the ancient artifact of the title while becoming aware that great things are expected of him and that his parents' killer is his nemisis as well. The film renders faithfully J.K. Rowling's book, a tactic that only occasionally works against the film, particularly in a super-natural sports match that plays more like a display of screen magic than a test of our young hero's courage. The three charming young leads get support from a superb cast of veterans. Be forewarned: Although based on a popular series of children's books, the movie may be too frightening for impressionable youngsters.

Summary: Not perfect, but enjoyable!
Review: While this movie's sequel is better, the original is still highly entertaining and enjoyable. It is a good family film. That will make you laugh, gasp, and if you're sensitive, cry.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Review: Good movie- HORRIBLE DVD. Warner Bros. insisted on making the second disk, which has tons of special features, inaccessible until you play little mini-games. I have no problems with mini-games, especially if they're based on Harry Potter, but even afterwards, there seemed to be a glitch in the DVD so I couldn't access the deleted scenes.

Now the only reason to buy a 2-disc, rather expensive set, would be to access the special features on the 2nd disc which you paid for. Unless you have a top-of the line DVD player, you will NOT be able to access the deleted scenes, unless you have a DVD-ROM drive and download some type of patch to confuse the display scene selection.

Anyway, about the rest of the DVD, I have to recommend it because it is the only version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone out currently, and it still quite good. I had no problems with the feature, or the whole 1st disc for that matter. I would recommend buying this DVD, in fact, just because on the Chamber of Secrets DVD, it has the same design layout; and if you like that sort of thing, it's nice to see similar DVD's together.

As for the movie, it's of course based upon the book that sold extremely well after the 3rd one came out, and word of mouth. The movie follows suit, with a record at the box office. If you are worried that it will ruin your perception of Hogwarts, and the books, don't watch it; because it might and could ruin your own little vision of things. Chris Columbus does NOT stray from original material, this movie is exactly like the book, even some scenes have names of chapters from the book. The actors are pretty good, but since there is so little time to see teachers, we hardly get to Flitwick and Snape other than a few moments.

So if you are hardcore, die-hard, for the deleted scenes, and seriously need to see them otherwise you will go beserk, I would rent the DVD first to see if your DVD player is capable of playing them. Otherwise, it's just a pretty well assembled DVD (the parts that work) and the movie is a very good one to own.
