Rating: Summary: Fun for the Whole Family Review: In these days when the line between children's movies and movies for adults is painfully clear, The Princess Bride tells an engaging old-fashioned fairy tale with enough swashbuckling and silliness for my three boys and enough romance and satire for me. I actually got the video when it first came out as a wedding present from my mother. Twelve years later, my boys and I still watch it and laugh together, something I will never be able to say about their Pokemon movies. I can't recommend this video highly enough. It works on so many levels that has something for everyone. And everytime someone says, "My name is..." we all answer "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!" (I should mention that this is not one of those fairy tales which has been "updated" by adding sex and violence. There isn't even any kissing. The violence is of the Errol Flynn variety: swordfights, RUS attacks, but very little blood. Only one person dies and he does it off screen. The hero fights with his wits and his heart as much as with his sword. Again a great antidote to those "realistic" cartoon shows!)
Rating: Summary: The best movie ever made Review: I have seen this video about 200 times and know every line! It gets funnier every time you see it, because you pick up things that you missed before. It's a great movie for people of any age - which is very rare these days! This is one movie that everyone should own!
Rating: Summary: How can you not love this movie? Review: The Princess Bride has always been one of my most favorite movies. It has something for everyone; romance, sword fights, good guys, bad guys, royalty and peasants. You name it, it is there. When I suggest watching it in my dorm people can't stop saying how they love the movie. There are always plenty of people coming to see it. I think it ranks right up there next to Star Wars, and that is VERY high praise. Definately watch this movie!
Rating: Summary: A MUST SEE for All Ages! Review: I saw this movie when I was a kid, and still enjoy it as much as I did then. It combines every aspect of a movie, with an overall fantasy plot, into a dazzling masterpiece. This may also be its weakness - in order to appeal to a wide audience, the movie isn't a strict comedy, drama, etc. This movie is a REAL CLASSIC, and is one of the few truly outstanding films of the 20th century. More films should be like this one!
Rating: Summary: definitly a family movie! Review: I've seen this movie at least 100 times, and it is still as good as the first time I saw it. The characters have the best lines, the plot is very well done, and the actors were the greatest! A movie for those who love adventure, comedy, romance, etc. a must see!
Rating: Summary: As You Wish! Review: I can't say enough about this movie. My first thought upon reading the title was, "this is not for me," but this movie contains a little something for everyone. There is swashbuckling adventure, romance, and comedy in great quantities. And who knew Andre the Giant would be such a lovable character? I highly recommend this film for audiences of all ages. My friends and I agree: do not date anyone who has seen this movie and didn't immediately fall in love with it!
Rating: Summary: It's got it all! Review: The Princess Bride is a delightful movie for all ages. It DOES have it all. It's got the "mushy" parts for the gals and the torture and revenge for the guys. It blends well and over-all is a great movie!
Rating: Summary: Clever and Funny Review: I've seen this one probably 5 or 6 times and still think it is hysterical, it is my wife's all-time favorite. An oft-quoted favorite in my household...
Rating: Summary: Not really worth seeing Review: This movie is, I am sorry to say, not really worth seeing. The only could thing about it is Cary Elwes, who is VERY CUTE. But aside from him I really would not reccomend this movie. Unless you are into severe human torture.
Rating: Summary: Great story, actors/actresses, . . . Review: It pretty much ends there. The acting was downright flat and stupid. A comedy that tried too hard. However, I give it three stars for a great cast and plot. Robin Wright (now Robin Wright Penn) was a lovely princess. Now, the title, "The Princess Bride", didn't really fit in that well. They needed to add some definite definition to it. And I'll admit it, I an action person-at least when you start out with a movie that has so much of it, you'd expect it to end well with a heroic and realistic and hopefully close-to-being-tragic ending. This was far from it. The end was not at all encouraging. But this is still worth seeing! There are some really good ideas in it-if only they were built upon more.
