Rating: Summary: Poorly Made Shrek Wannabe Review: This movie is a travesty. It seems as if the filmmaker was trying to produce a "contemporary" fairy tale along the lines of SHREK, but with none of the creativity, skill, or humor. The acting ranges from overblown to non-existent. There are gratuitous references to contemporary pop culture, e.g., we see Delta Burke as the wicked stepmother, channel surfing, martini in hand, commenting on how much she loves that show Designing Women. Keep the kids away from this cynical junk.
Rating: Summary: Bastardization of A Good, Classic Tale Review: This movie was horrible!!! I watched it with my twin 6-year-olds and we were all equally bored and disappointed with this video! It was just SO far off from the story and all these extra characters (an excuse to add some star names to the mix), just came and went randomly. Most of the jokes seemed more aimed at adults than the kids it is intended for. My kids, however, are OBSESSED, with the older version of this story starring Chloris Leachman as the witch and complete with the original Engelburt Humperdink music. The video is hard to come by though. Someone should re-release it. It's great.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie!! Review: We rented this movie for our four year old son. He loved it and watched it over and over (for the five days we had it)! I thought it was a very cute movie, and think it is a good one to own.

Rating: Summary: Not the same old story... Review: With movies and books constantly having regurgitated story lines and predictable characters, this one is a refreshing difference. For those who berate this movie because it has flagrant disregard to the original story, I remind you of what Disney has done (and continues to do) to classic stories, such as "The Little Mermaid" and "Aladdin." Those movies are great because they have modern experiences put in so that children of today can relate. "Hansel and Gretel" does the same thing. What results is a hilarious, visually-stimulating, modern retelling of a story we have all grown to memorize, with an all-star cast. The movie is very satirical, that is why sometimes it seems "overdone," but over-all it's a great movie for children of all ages (especially the parents). Laughs and chills abound with this fairytale!
