Summary: A truly great family film.
Review: Simon Birch isn't your typical Hollywood movie. It has a low body count, no real romance, no big name stars, and a story that is centered on outcasts. This doesn't sound like the makings of a successful movie.

However, Simon Birch is one of the most memorable movies I've come across in years. It is a story about kids that has a true feeling to it (sort of like "A Christmas Story"). It has a feeling of real friendship like the movie "Stand By Me". It manages to be original, bust-a-gut funny, and sad all at the same time.

I was shocked to read some of the reviews of Simon Birch after I had seen the movie. The critics definitely had a mixed view of Simon Birch. I guess this shows what I've suspected for a long time, movie critics wouldn't know a good movie if it hit them in the head with a baseball.

Review: I cannot comprehend how anyone could not like this movie. The world can be a cruel place & people can be cruel. For all the people who feel out of place in this world, faith is the only thing they have to rely on. Simon Birch is definately someone that most of us can relate to. I thought this to be a wonderful & touching movie, that makes you think about life and your own mortality.

My only hope is for the price on-line for the VHS version to go down so I could buy this, so PLEASE consider that. Thanx

Review: I was surprised to see many of the negative things written about this movie. My children and I had no idea what it was about when we rented it; but we enjoyed every minute and have rented it many times over. My children love the humorous areas of this movie and continue to be moved by the thought-provoking issues that are raised. We let the movie flow and take us along instead of finding fault. What a wonderful journey we continue to make each time we watch Simon Birch.

Review: To those of you who hate Simon Birch,you are entitled to your opinion.However,I think it sticks out like a sore thumb when you people come here and talk trash about this movie while the other 80+ people that reviewed it could find at least one nice thing to say about it.Sure,it has flaws,but doesn't every movie? If you are so focused on what's wrong with this movie that you can't see what's right about it,then you have my pity.Because every movie I have seen,including Simon Birch,does have an occassional flaw.But give Mark Steven Johnson a break.This is his first film and I think he did a better job than some of the older,more well known directors.Also,the acting was great.That's all I have to say.

Review: I saw this video last night with my wife and three children and it was the most valuable movie experience that we've shared together. My children all loved the movie, and afterwards it opened up discussions of faith, death, etc. It was a really meaningful experience. Thanks to the filmmakers who gave this gift to the world. I only hope more people over time get to have the kind of experience my family had.
