Summary: Contact- the ULTUMATE DEMO DISC
Review: If you ever have friends over to see your new DVD (either stand alone or DVD-ROM), This disc should be the one to demostrate the full potential of DVD. Great sound, full of extra goodies (the commentaries helped understand the film better). This was the first movie I used to test out my DVD-ROM and it took me three days to watch it with all the special features. I highly recomend this title.

Summary: The most convincing sci-fi of the century !!!
Review: An absolutely superb story. Jodie really packs amazing emotion into her character role and the movie leaves you wondering as to what really happened in the transport pod. An absolute must for all sci-fi fans. You'll be doing yourself in if you do not buy the DVD format as this gives you a tremendous amout of extra material.....

Summary: Very good movie with many important themes/messages
Review: Very disappointed it was not available in TV format. Not going to but an expensive TV to watch widescreen format.

Summary: Should have been nominated for best picture in 1997
Review: This is an engaging and thoughtful story that goes beyond the typical Sci-fi genre to plumb the depths of what drives us. Jodie Foster does an outstanding job of portraying a driven scientist who discovers something about life and herself in the end that wasn't what she bargained for. This is all wrapped up in a very slickly presented tale that captures the reality of today's political world. At the same time the story has it's moments or heart-tugging emotion. The music fits perfectly. Everyone should not miss this Sci-Fi masterpiece, especially in this DVD version.

Summary: One of my favorites
Review: It's too bad this movie didn't come out in time for the AFI top 100 list, because in my opinion, it would have been a shoe-in. This is definitely a thinking person's movie, but well worth the effort. Jodie Foster has to be hands down the best actress out there today.

Summary: Masterpiece
Review: If you are a SCI-FI fan and you like realistic stories, it is for you. I was written more than 10 years ago, so the current SCI-FI concept we usually see is not present. If you like action like The Rock it is not for you.

Perhaps during the contact I would do a different thing if I would write the story because it feels quite a bit common, but as I said it was written years ago and the only one I would blame for it is Carl Sagan.

I have not read the original book but those who read have told me that the movie does not alter the story but simplifies it for time reasons.

I own the video and I think that it worth the price and it is enjoyable.

Summary: Nice movie, but it misses the deeper message of the novel
Review: I enjoyed this movie and would have given it a higher recommendation had I felt that it followed Sagan's story more accurately. In typical Hollywood-liberal fashion, it misses the point by painting Religion as the villain. Sagan, in contrast, successfully merged religion and science in a gray tone, rather than the cliche-ic black and white that Hollywood prefers. Without giving away the book's ending (if you liked this picture, you should DEFINATELY read the novel), let me just say that his brilliant and incredibly thought provoking ending was completely ignored. Big mistake. However, Jodie Foster's performance still saves this version.

Summary: TREMENDOUS special effects!!!
Review: The DVD version of Contact is by far one of the best DVDs I've seen. It contains some tremendous footage on 'the making of Contact'. There is some tremendous behind-the-scenes included. Watch this in stereo surround for a true theather experience.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best DVD to purchase for new DVD Player owners
Review: Not only is Contact an awesome movie all on its own, it is hands down the first DVD that should be purchased after the player. As a matter of fact I think all DVD companies should put this DVD in with the player! The extra clips on the making of Contact, including the computer generated graphics, is awesome.
