Rating: Summary: Not Christmas Without it! Review: I love this movie and it wouldn't be Christmas if I couldn't watch it at least A HUNDRED times! It's not a sappy "what would life be like without Ralphie" movie. It's real life! If you wander through life with rose colored glasses on, this movie is not for you, it's for the rest of us! I also had to buy My Summer Story, just because it's about Ralphie.
Rating: Summary: Humor, humor, and more humor Review: While some of the subject matter may be a little high-minded for the little tykes, this movie is a near gut-splitter for those who like clean humor, albeit a little on the dry side, and possibly even with some sarcasm. Peter Billingsley is good as the kid who wants a "shooter" for Christmas, but is afraid that what he wants will be dismissed because it might shoot his eyes out. It's a laugh, this one is.
Rating: Summary: By Far the Absolute BEST! Review: "A Christmas Story" is my all-time favorite movie so there is absolutely nothing bad I can say about it!Set in the 1940's, the story revolves around Ralphie, a nine-year-old growing up in the midwest, who only wants one thing for Christmas: a bb gun. The movie follows Ralphie, his friends, and family through hilarious adventures, most of them revolving around the bb gun. Laughs abound in this movie and you can't help but cheer for Ralphie when he finally receives his coveted Christmas gift. Every Christmas I watch this movie and still cannot get enough of it. Although I own it both on VHS and DVD, I can't help but watch the 24-hour marathon on TNT on Christmas Eve. This is one movie that is a classic and will be loved for many generations to come! I STRONGLY recommend watching this movie! I know there will not be one thing you dislike about it!
Rating: Summary: Ovaltine?!? A crummy commercial? Review: I have lost track of how many times that I have seen this movie over the years, but it still cracks me up every single time. Christmas is not the same unless I get to see this movie at least once. The time line may have been set before I was born, but the story line holds true for all people no matter what they ever wanted for Christmas. This movie is good natured, sweet and funny all the way though.
Rating: Summary: Christmas Story of a life time... Review: First.. Needs a Widescreen and coming up on 20 years needs a SE. ... This movie has family, it has heart..A Mom who loves her kids so much you can feel it!! The boy, Ralphie is obsessed in a way only a 7 or 8 year old can be. And his Dad turns out to be the only one who really listens to him!!! Ralphie never thinks to ask his Dad for his BB Gun..The one character who seems most self absorbed hears and gets his son wahat he wants for Christmas..that is a story! Its not about dysfunction. It is about function!! Wacky, Kooky function. Of course you have to wipe the tears of laughter away to see it!!! Buy the movie!! And when it comes out in widescreen/se buy it again!!! The movie is magic!!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent movie...but poor format Review: I can't say anything about this great film that hasn't already been said many times. However, I was disturbed that it has only been released in pan-and-scan. Why is it studios think that a film that appeals to all ages should be presented this way? I love the film but I refuse to buy it until it comes out in the original widescreen format
Rating: Summary: "Daddy's gonna kill Ralphie!" Review: "No, I promise you, Daddy is not going to kill Ralphie." One of the many exchanges in this film that makes me laugh every time. "Christmas Story" is a movie that always gives me the warm fuzzies. What could have been just another story of childhood is enhanced by Ralphie's vivid imagination (the dream sequences are hilarious) and Jean Shepherd's amusing narration. A classic to be treasured.
Rating: Summary: Destined to be a Christmas classic for sure! Review: This was both a heartwarming and funny film, that harkens back to a more 'innocent time' when all kids had to worry about was a neighborhood bully or winning a 'triple dog dare'! This is a period film evocative of the 1940's, and it is very accurate and well done cinematographically. It is very believable, and the third person narrative is a pleasure to listen to! It's as if the kid is your freind talking to you directly. My wife has had this on VHS and now DVD for years, and has been nudging me to watch it for 3 years now, to which I would always reply "i'm busy". Well, I finally caught up with it yesterday, and have to say it is one of the top 3 Xmas films ever, in terms of content and storyline. I ended up telling my wife she was right, and that this holiday film will go down as one of the best of the best! A must see, especially around Christmastime!
Rating: Summary: Sad excuse for a Christmas movie Review: My son and friend had me watch this movie with them. What a sad excuse for a Christmas movie. There's no warmth. It's a story of a dysfunctional family with a sad excuse for a father whose fascination with the leg lamp is just too bizarre. The kid gets bullied and beats up the bully. Santa is supposed to be a kid's dream at Christmas. What does this movie show but a mean spirited fake who scares kids and ruins their dreams. This movie is awful. Christmas is a time for good feelings and faith, and this movie destroys the meaning of the holiday.
Rating: Summary: Fa-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra! Review: This is easily my favorite christmas movie ever. It is about a little boy named Ralphie who wants a BB Gun for christmas. But his parents keep telling him that he'll shoot his eye out. A few of my favorite parts in the movie were when Ralphie got his mouth washed out with soap after saying the F word, then of course there was the part when the mother broke the lamp, but I'd have to say my very favorite part was when they were in the japanese restaurant and the choir sang, Deck the Harrs with Boughs of Horry Fa Ra Ra Ra Ra Ra Ra Ra Ra! This is a must for anybody who likes funny movies. Enjoy!
