Summary: Christmas wouldn't be the same without it!
Review: I finally purchased this video after watching if for years on a tape that I recorded off of television! I don't know what I was waiting for! I even bought it to give as gifts this year...it is certainly a "must have!" Ralphie is every kid...I remember using the same ploys he did to drop hints to the parents as to what to get me for Christmas...and weren't we all warned against the toys we REALLY wanted as Ralphie was warned that he would "shoot his eye out!" One of my favorite scenes is the Christmas dinner at the Chinese restaurant...it totally made me want to go Chinese for the holidays! This is truly a classic and a must see for the holiday season. I truly recommend it and I actually watch it in the summer as well. Be sure to drink your Ovaltine!

Summary: This was an "INSTANT" classic.
Review: I just finished watching this movie and I feel I need to give it all my praises. It has the sort of "cute" humor meant for all ages in the Christmas spirit. Nice sortyline with Ralphie and his "Red Rider BB Gun" and his hilarious little brother Randy take on the role of living in a household with modern parents in the modern world in the 1940's. Very realistic about the family and how they act. The acting is excellent and the music carries on old christmas tunes. I loved this movie and I would recommend it to ANYONE and would definintly buy it for myself. If you liked Chevy Chases Christmas vacation this is "it" in the past but with a nice old fashioned twist.

Summary: Either you love or you hate it.
Review: I've seen this movie every Christmas at my relative's house. I can honestly say I hate it. I've been searching for reasons why people actually think of this is as a classic up there with It's A Wonderful Life and A Charlie Brown Christmas. Pretty much the same excuse of every person who has seen this is that it reminds them of their childhood. I cannot contend that. However, I think the movie is actually pretty mean-spirited and after awhile pretty bland. In one sequence we have Ralphie uttering the F word and then beating up this one kid to a bloody pulp (with his mittens!) Then you have the scene where that one kid gets stuck to the pole with his tounge. They seriously should have gotten Roald Dahl to direct this movie! Not much of an ending either. He does get the BB gun however. Stick with It's a Wonderful Life for your Christmas viewing pleasures.

Summary: please, Ted
Review: A holiday classic that deserves better treatment on DVD. TCM will run the widescreen version at least once a season. Watch and compare. When will the studios get it?

Summary: Why I loved the Christmas Story.
Review: This is by far one of the best videos I've ever seen. The content is suitable for all ages and will make even a grinch smile. I rarely laugh out loud, but this story made me laugh repeatedly. I loved the main character, Ralphie, but even more I loved the way the story was told through Ralphie's thoughts. It was pure fun. I've watched it many times already, and plan to watch it every Christmas.

Summary: This is my favorite!
Review: I love Rudolph, I love the Grinch, but nothing makes me feel more like a kid than A Christmas Story. From the big snow suit on the little brother, to the kid sticking his tongue on the pole, this is it. I saw it for the first time in the theatre when it first came out and from then I was hooked. Watch it with a bunch of people and remember. But careful, you might "put your eye out"!

Summary: No widescreen? No big deal.
Review: A lot of people have complained about the fact that this movie wasn't in widescreen, but the fact of the matter is, you see MORE of this movie with this full-screen version. Yes. MORE! I know it's probably hard to believe, but I own the widescreen Laser Disc edition of this movie, and comparing them scene by scene, I *always* saw more with the DVD version. It was like they created the widescreen version by clipping the tops and bottoms off of the frames! I don't understand it myself. Nonetheless, there is NO loss of picture on the sides of the frames. The sides match the widescreen format (at least the widescreen on my Laser Disc) frame for frame. And the colours were better, too! Happy Holidays!
