Rating: Summary: Sorry, Dr. Seuss Review: First, I congratulate the crew of this film for their hard efforts on a fantastic set and array of costumes. However, Dr. Seuss's story got lost in this overly secularized version of a classic story. The Grinch is, at heart, a comical escapade. By the end of the movie, Seuss's apparent moral got lost in a world of sight gags. Also, Dr. Seuss's book was short, simple, and to the point. However, in order for this movie to fit the customary video length, it had to add a lot of unnecessarily tiring and misfitting footage. Those familiar with the original story will notice how much this tends to drag. -- Now Jim Carrey really brings some life into the Grinch's character, but he tends to mumble way too much and a lot of [what could be funny lines] gets lost in his slurred speech. All in all, The Grinch is a decent movie, but if you're familiar with Seuss's book... and I know you are... you're in for a real downer.
Rating: Summary: "The Grinch" will make your heart grow and your spirit soar! Review: In Ron Howard's live action feature film, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Jim Carrey is at his best, and Holiday fun is at it's best! Jim Carrey is awesome as "The Grinch", the modern day version of Ebeneezer Scrooge. As the movie begins, the grinch is filled with hate for the entire village of Whoville, but after he meets a young girl, his faith in others is changed forever, for the better! We can learn alot from this movie. Next time someone is rude to you, don't seek revenge, remember the grinch. Perhaps the person who was rude to you, doesn't know how to be nice, because no one was ever nice to them! Instead of making enemies, MAKE A FRIEND! And whenever you make a new friend, all of Whoville will celebrate! Enjoy "The Grinch". This magical movie will make your heart grow, and your spirit soar! God Bless you, friends!
Rating: Summary: what an Insult. Review: I really did not care for this insulting film based on Dr. Seuss'es well known story that was made into a good family animated program in 1966. Jim Carrey really insults the audience with his over the top/non funny performance of the Grinch. The sets look like they were re-disigned props left over from "Batman and Robin" and Ron Howard, useually a good director, looks like he filmed this movie quickly and on a low budget. and to add to this already forgettable film is another recycled music score by James Horner. Please. Forget this movie and watch the 1966 cartoon instead.
Rating: Summary: Yuck! Review: Sorry! But all I can say is Yuck!
Rating: Summary: Over the Top Review: "The Grinch" is portrayed by an extremely over the top acting of Jim Carrey. It's like watching his character, Ace Ventura trying to be Grinch. He really goes way over in this movie, which I think is why some people are cringing at it. I think only true fans of Carrey and not the story the Grinch, will appreciate this film more. It is an entire different entity. The book and cartoon are classic Dr. Seuss and a staple at Christmas time, and the movie has been panned because of not keeping up with the original story. Also, there is alot added, which had to be otherwise this movie would have been a half hour also. I really thought that Taylor Monsen, Cindy Lou Who, was so adorable as Cindy Lou Who(who is alot more than two). She helped to bring the story life. Some of the additional things seem sort of silly, but whenever The Grinch is onscreen, it's pretty funny and entertaining. (...) this is not meant to be taking so seriously, take the original story/cartoon for what it is, and the movie for what it is. The scenery and make up are all amazing, and in the extras on the dvd, I learned that circus folk from Cirque De Soleil are in the movie. It all adds up to a fun time, JMO.... (...) It's Christmas, people, lighten up!I think overall this is a great Christmas movie for the entire family.
Rating: Summary: One Of the Best Review: This is definitely one of the best movies. While it isn't exactly true to the cartoon version or the book it's still enjoyable. The Grinch (Jim Carrey) lives in the hills above Whoville. He's very unhappy and hates Christmas. The Grinch decides to ruin Christmas for every Who in Whoville, but when he runs into Cindy Lou Who (Taylor Momsen) he realizes that Christmas isn't that bad. This is a great family film to watch for the holidays, and I recommend it to any fan of Dr. Seuss, or Jim Carrey.

Rating: Summary: The Critic says it all, "It Sux!!" Review: Here I thought this movie was going to be an instant classic. Boy was I wrong. First of all the movie strts out well and goes down hill from there. I mean the ending isn't even the original one that we have all grown to love. Another thing the little girl gets sooooo annoying, I can't look at her any more. In the end this movie was horrible and too slow to even allow me to finish it. Enjoy!!
