Summary: Princess Diaries Takes the Throne!
Review: This movie is great for people all ages! It's funny, interesting, and has a really great plot! Even though this movie may seem like it's just for kids, I think everybody will enjoy this! Just because this movie is not obscene or violent doesn't mean that it's not good. Trust me, this movie rocks!

Summary: An ok rental.
Review: This movie is basically like a "Pretty Woman" for the under 16 crowd. No coincidence I'm sure that both movies have the same producer and this movie even includes 3 cast memebers from Pretty Woman (including the "it happens all the time" guy, who has that one and only line in this movie as well). The only person more annoying in this movie than Mandy Moore is the girl who plays Mia's best friend. It's not a horrible movie, but not the greatest. Like I said, it makes an ok rental. Anne Hathaway is definitely a bright rising star.

Summary: Lots of fun for the whole family
Review: Somewhat surprisingly, my 11-year-old son is as much of a fan of this movie as my 6-year-old daughter. I love it too. It's basically a rehash of "Pretty Woman" without the adult themes, a modern fairy tale. Every kid can relate to Mia's pursuit of invisibility from the cruel "A" crowd at school and some of her clumsy gaffes as she's learning to be a princess are priceless. Anne Hathaway is delightful to watch, but the real star of the show is Julie Andrews as her grandmother, the Queen. It's a terrific gem for your family film library that will get lots of play!

Summary: Sweet, Charming Movie!
Review: The Princess Diaries is one of the nicest movies I have seen in a long while and I throughly enjoyed this sweet, charming movie. I very highly recommend this movie which is a wonderful movie that is fine for the whole family to enjoy! Everyone in the movie was great but my favorites were Anne Hathaway, Julie Andrews and Hector Elizondo.

Summary: Nothing Like the Book
Review: I read The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot. I loved it. It was funny, spunky, good message. The movie totally butchered it. There was that was anything like the book. She wrote the book in diary form, thats why it was called the proncess diaries. NOT becuase her dad (who wasnt dead in the books!) gave her some dumb diary. also, grandmere was a cruel but funny woamn in the books. her character in the movie was so whatever. and what was the point of having mandy moore in this movie? so you get publicity out of a bubblegum popstar. and the director actually had the nerve to give her a scene in which she sings. not to mention her voice stinks. so if you read the book and liked it, dont see the movie.

Summary: Who is that kid?
Review: My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. We found it to be funny, refreshing and very entertaining. I had been trying to place the boy who fell in love with the princess (Michael). He played a brother to somebody. I thought it was like a "Goonies" type flim. Then it occured to me that he may have been the kid from Witness, but that was over 15 years ago.
Can you help us?
Thanks;
Al

Summary: Good Clean Entertainment!
Review: I really enjoyed this movie a lot. At first, I was hestitant to watch it, but after viewing it - I was really pleased.

Cute, and humorous, yet believable...this was more than the "fairy tale" story. It was set in real down-to-earth life, and even though I've never heard of Genovia, it seemed pretty believable!

And usually I take "G" movies as kid's entertainment, but being an adult, I was surpised how much I enjoyed it also. And with the content of the films that are out there, it is good to see there is a movie that is morally clean, good clean language, the the movie is still worth watching!!

Summary: A Bad Example for Young Girls
Review: OK--I'm not really going to review this movie in the sense of the word--because of this, I would not have given it a start rating at all, but since I have to, I'll give a rating to the movie overall.

Instead, I just want to get my opinion across about what I see as a crippling theme running through this movie as well as many others. This theme is the importance of physical makeovers. Now I know this movie was about more than that--however, once again, I only want to get my point across, not necessarily recommend or not recommend it.

The makeup artists at the studio started with the naturally beautiful Anne Hathaway. To make her geeky and unpopular, they added glasses, frizzed her hair, and made some other minor adjustments to her face. Then, during the movie, they give her a makeover in which she magically becomes the same old beautiful Anne Hathaway she started out as, again. What's so amazing about that? Why does it even matter what she looks like? If Genovians can't accept her the way she was before, I don't think that sends a good message to young girls, anyway--that you can't be accepted if you don't look like a model.

I'll concede that maybe to be in the public spotlight, she would need some charm lessons--how to walk straight, speak in front of an audience, etc.

In an age of Britney Spears and fashion models, girls need real role models--ones who don't tell them they need to be beautiful to be happy or successful, but who tells them that, no matter what they look like, if they work hard toward their goals they will be happy and successful.
