Summary: Possibly the best Disney movie ever!
Review: The Emperor's New Groove is quite possibly the best Disney movie ever! With voices like David Spade, John Goodman and Eartha Kitt, you can't go wrong! I also think the animators and writers at Disney did a very good job.While Emperor Kuzco is selecting a place for "Kuzcotopia, his ultimate summer getaway", the villianess, Yzma, who is the Emperor's advisor, and her right-hand man, Kronk, plot to kill Kuzco when Yzma is fired by Kuzco. But when Kuzco gets the poison, instead of dying, he is turned into a llama! So Kuzco is eventually landed in the wagon of Pocha, who met with the Emperor earlier in the movie, and Kuzco will be building "Kuzcotopia" on his Pocha's hilltop! So Pocha is forced to help Kuzco get back into the palace and be changed back into a man. However, there are plenty of hardships along the way, such as Kuzco nearly being eaten by jaguars, or a scene at a diner at which Kuzco and Pocha have a close call with Yzma and Kronk. So Kuzco and Pocha have to continue the journey to the palace, and they can only hope that they get there before Yzma and Kronk. This was a very funny movie that I really enjoyed. Summary: More Comdey and less music.
Review: Much better then average Disney film with royal person being turned into a funny looking animal by evil witch who wants his kingdom (even though she has royal guards who act like idiots). The Prince stays ahead of his captors (because they are idiots) and goes through more comedy routines (like Abbot and Costello) to get his kingdom back. Adults will enjoy this movie as much, maybe more so, then kids.

Summary: IT MOVES AND GROOVES UNLIKE ANY OTHER DISNEY FILM!
Review: This latest Disney treat got me on all levels. I was completely surprised at how the typical "story formula" was completely thrown out. For starters, early in the story I thought one of the chracters was going to be annoying. And I'm not talking about Kuzco (Spade) or Pacha (Goodman). I'm not saying which one, but that character ended up being my favorite! I want to see it again, because of the crazy, zany antics and non-stop slapstick action! The climax had me laughing out of control! The dvd's on my list. Go enjoy this wonderfully packaged animated film, and here's hoping the next Disney flick will again have Mr. Mark Dindal's excellent direction.

Summary: No place in the Sun
Review: I'm afraid that even as a Disney loyalist, I must disagree with the other reviews. I was severely disappointed with "The Emperor's New Groove." First and foremost the movie lacked heart which many ,if not all, of it's predecessors had plenty of. (Who could forget the Beast releasing Belle so she could help her ailing father or when Simba was looking helplessly for Mufasa after the stampede.) Second, it was really difficult to care about any of the characters. The main character "Emperor Kuzco" was a smart-ass brat from the beginning and NOT very likable throughout the picture. Third, the villianess "Yzma" was a total buffoon!!!She wasn't threatening in the least. There is no comparing her to the likes of Scar, The Wicked Queen, or Maleficent. Fourth, What in the world was going on in that restaurant scene?!?! and when "Kronk" started talking to that squirrel I very nearly left my seat. Fifth, the animation was nothing new. Usually with every new feature new strides in animation are achieved. Not in this case. Sixth, the story ,which is the most important ingredient of any movie, was lacking in substance. It seemed to rely heavily on sight gags and stale jokes. It's obviously one of Disney's weakest attempts and unfortunately it seems it was "put out there" to fill the market place. I do believe that you should see it and judge for yourself. I still believe in Disney animation and am anticipating "Atlantis: the Lost Empire." Hope you enjoy!

Summary: The most original Disney feature ever!
Review: Having watched all of the classic Disney movies, I must say that this new feature was a total surprise, and quite possibly the best full-length cartoon Disney has come up with since the old days of Bambi and Dumbo. It IS that good. The only flaw, if I can call it that, is that this is not really a musical. There are a couple of tracks, but unlike every Disney feature in recent memory, there are no memorable tunes. The fun revolves, however, around the dialogue, aimed both at mature and young audiences. Some of the one-liners by Yzma, the wannabe queen, will have you rolling in the aisles, as will the amazing vocal work done by David Spade as the voice of the Emperor. I think the funniest part of the film is when Yzma and her handy toy-boy Klonk are in pursuit of the emperor. This takes up much of the film, really, and lack of plot regardless, the story, like every Disney tale does, ends with a moral lesson. Eartha Kitt as the voice of Yzma is amazing, and in her we see Disney's finest villainess, yes, even better than that boooooring Cruella DeVil (done to death by Glenn Close in that absolutely unnecessary '102 Dalmations'). For that reason alone, this film is a must watch, and stands out above all the usual fare currently on at the cinema. Highly recommended!!

Summary: Lots of laughs in a fast paced Disney film!
Review: Just got back from seeing this film with our niece and nephew, ages 5 and 9...we all enjoyed this one! But I believe that Jim and I enjoyed it even more than the kids! The vocal performances, especially Patrick Warburton but kudos also should go to David Spade and Eartha Kitt! And that's not leaving out John Goodman's performance either. The animation could have been a bit better, but the sight gags and secondary characters were terrific as well...A lot of the humor is reminicent of "Toy Story 2" and "Bug's Life" which I also enjoyed immensely. This movie is pretty fast paced and, at only 80 minutes, we were able to all sit and watch without having to take a 'bathroom break' during the viewing! We are definitely getting this one when it comes out on video. Don't miss it!

Summary: Disney magic is back!
Review: I saw this movie as a sneak preview and it does not dissapoint. I'm happy that Disney has not stopped making the animated features that both young and old can enjoy. Emperor's New Groove is an original story with a very strong comedy element that had me laughing out loud at many points. What works? The cast and the writing. David Spade was the perfect choice to voice the arrogant and unforgiving emperor. The real "steal" of this show belongs to the voice anc character of Kronk. You'll know the voice as "Puddy" from Seinfeld. What's missing? There are no songs mingled into the movie. This is a diversion from previous Disney flicks but it doesn't take away from this movie at all. See this with your kids, your loved ones. Another Disney treasure!

Summary: What is your groove???
Review: Emperor Kuzco had it all, huge palace and a staff waiting at his snap of the fingers, he has no concern for anybody and a groove with only his interest in mind. Kuzco's advisor Yzma wanting control over the kingdom, plots with her right hand man Kronk to kill the emperor, the plan fell apart when Kuzco was turned into a llama instead. With the help of a simple peasant Pacha, Kuzco tries to return to the palace and restore himself back to human. I used to love Disney movies, but somewhere along the way the magic was gone, and I stayed away from the newer films. Fortunately The Emperor's New Groove isn't your formulaic animation, it is fun and a light hearted comedy, with very mild violences it is sure a treat for you and your family. It has a really good story and the way it's told is fresh and different, with the stylish drawings, even a lack of songs didn't hamper my enjoyment for this movie (although I welcome this change.) Groove teaches one about friendship and the act of unselfishness and generosity, a fitting topic during the Christmas time. Voices provided by David Spade and John Goodman, The Emperor's New Groove should entertain adults and kids alike, I highly recommend this movie for the holiday season!
