Rating: Summary: Wonderful Children's Classic - Animated Gem! Review: When Farmer Zuckerman was going to "do away with" the runt of his pig's litter, his daughter tearfully convinces him to allow her the responsibility of raising "Wilbur". Wilbur turns into the barnyard joy, and eventually wins not only first prize at the fair, but because of the wisdom of the old spider, Charlotte, becomes a famed attraction. This classic children's story deals with the life cycle and explains, through the farm animals' eyes, that birth, life and eventual death are all natural, and nothing to fear. After a laborous life, Charlotte dies, but all are reminded of her "magic" when her little baby spiders hatch and go on into the world to live their lives. Debbie Reynold lends her voice to Charlotte, and several beautiful songs envelop this delightful story. This one is right up there with animated Disney Classics, a film every child should enjoy, one of the very best in its class.*****
Rating: Summary: A charming treasure Review: When I was a child, my parents took me to see this movie in the theatre after seeing how I devoured the book over and over again. Now, I have the chance to enjoy it with my own children, and even after enough repeated viewings that it's become necessary to purchase another copy, we still enjoy it every time. This is a charming adaptation of E.B. White's classic children's tale, with some precious dialog, and even though the animation isn't up to Disney standards, it's still leagues above Pokemon standards. And the casting! Oh my, whomever put Paul Lynde in the role of Templeton the Rat gets my vote as casting agent of the century (closely followed by the person responsible for Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head in Toy Story...but I digress). The movie could hardly be improved upon. Buy it, enjoy it, treasure it. It's a marvelous tale you'll enjoy over and over again.
Rating: Summary: "Some movie!" Review: Wilbur (voiced by Henry Gibson) is a porker with a problem: He was born the runt of the litter and to the farmer (John Stephenson), he's not worth the price of feed. The farmer's daughter Fern (Pamelyn Ferdin) steps in and raises Wilbur as a pet. Eventually the hapless curly-tail is sold to the Zuckerman Farm, where he meets an interesting assortment of characters: There's a rude ram (Dave Madden), a gabby goose (Agnes Moorehead), and a ravenous rat (Paul Lynde) named Templeton; but lonely Wilbur finds a true friend in the kindly, wise spider who lives in an upper corner of the pigpen. The spider is called Charlotte (Debbie Reynolds) and once she learns that sweet and shy Wilbur is in danger of becoming bacon bits, she spins the words "Some Pig!" in her web.
Sweet story, soft and gentle animation, cleverly-written but sometimes annoying songs.

Rating: Summary: Adults Love It, Too Review: Wilbur, the pig, is the loveable main character in this film of the children's classic novel by E.B. White. Newborn Wilbur is saved from certain death by farm girl Fern, but it is really Charlotte, the spider, who becomes his friend and ensures he will live a long life. A year in the life of a pig was never so entertaining or sentimental as in this movie. This is a great movie to share with your child, preferably after you have read the book together. The songs are pretty boring, but the rest of the action is true to the book. Henry Gibson's Wilbur is the best!
