Summary: Comprehensive Introduction to the Alphabet
Review: "Richard Scarry's Best ABC Video Ever" was a nice follow-up to "Richard Scarry's Best Learning Songs Video Ever" for my son, who is now 16 months old. He began watching the latter video when he was 12 months old. I thought that that was a nice umbrella (overall introduction) for the various subtopics, including the alphabet. "Richard Scarry's Best ABC Video Ever" is lively, and creative. It thoroughly engages my son, and captures his complete attention. The characters are familiar and friendly. More importantly, it further stretches the idea of a community. I highly recommend the video. I plan to purchase all of the items in the series.

Summary: Love it! Adorable and a great no frills way to teach ABC's
Review: I am so happy I bought this video. My son is very active but this sweet, soft spoken video keeps him very interested. It goes throught the alphabet clearly displaying each letter as it names many things beginning with that letter. The characters are adorable. You'll be happy with this one.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I bought this after reading the great reviews on Amazon.com. I was very disappointed. For a DVD, the quality was very poor. It was also boring. My daughter prefers Baby Einstein, Sesame Street, and Brainy Baby.

Summary: My daughter loves this!
Review: I bought this DVD based on reviews for my 2.5 year old daughter. She absolutely loves it and is willing to watch it over and over. I generally don't want her watching TV because it numbs the brain. This however is an exception because it is very educational.
I also like the fact that it is not overly polished like so many TV shows are.
I noticed that some reviewers complain that it is boring to them. Well, this was not made to entertain adults! It is a kids DVD and both entertains and educates very well.
My only complaint is that it is only 30 minutes. Nevertheless I am happy with it.

Summary: My almost 3 year old son LOVES this video!!
Review: I had to take time out to write this review. I purchased Richard Scarry's ABC'S and Counting DVD last week. We haven't had the video a week yet and he's asked for both videos EVERY DAY more than once a day (he's watching it right now actually). We, actually, got a Charlie Brown Valentine's Day DVD today and he chose these DVD's over Charlie Brown! My son memorized the phonics of each letter but not all of the actual letter names (ex. he'll say FFFF instead of F). I didn't realize he'd be so attached to this DVD. I can't say enough good things about it. It's not computer graphics, this was made back in the day when you actually drew the cartoon wich I, personally, prefer and lucky for me my son doesn't care one way or the other.

The video has a letter and a small story for each letter with alot of the featured letter. I like that the kids names start with the letter they're talking about (Letter L has Libby talking about Lowley drinking Lemonade). The counting video goes up to 20 wich is why I purchased it, most only go up to 10. He's learning alot from the counting video because he only knows his numbers up to 10, he already knows most of his alphabet but doesn't know how to read yet so the video could help teach him. We own every leapfrog product known to man and TONS of books and the Hooked On Phonics set but anything that'll help is welcome.

This video and the counting video are EXCELLENT and HIGHLY recommended. The only Alphabet DVD (besides this one) I can highly recommend is LeapFrog's Letter Factory. It's more polished but it teaches the phonics of the words just like the toys do. Leapfrog's Talking Words Factory 1&2 are also highly recommended but NOT Math Circus, don't waste your money on that one. I'm going to purchase Richard Scarry's The Best Learning Video, I hope it's as good as the other 2.

Summary: Wonderful a Must Have
Review: I have the whole series on Dvd. My 2 1/2 year old son and 4 1/2 year old daughter watch them every day. My son was slow on learning to speak, not now. These videos helped him to start talking a few months ago and now we can't shut him up. They both load the DVD player and watch every one in the series. My son knows how to count to 10 now and sings the songs during the day.

Summary: The earlier Richard Scarrys are better
Review: I would recommend these Scarry videos: Abc's, Mother Goose, and Learning Songs. (I have not watched the others but plan to buy the counting and busy people videos.) They are so innocent and sweet. The childrens' voices are so pleasing to the ear. I have found nothing wrong with them while I watch with my 2 year old. They are so tender and touching and my son has learned all the songs, as well as what words start with what letters, etc. I feel confident that he is not learning something I would not want him to learn. We just bought Scarry's Best Video Collection Ever, but this video seems to be made later than the others (as is the Scarry cartoons on cable tv). I don't like it as much. The innocence and primitive style are missing, and frankly that's what I love about the earlier videos. There is no fast action, no fancy computer animation--my 2 year old does not need that. It is slow paced and gentle and for an active little 2 year old, they capture his attention and teach him something at the same time, while not over stimulating him.

Summary: My 2 and a half year old son asks for Richard Scarry by name
Review: My 2 1/2 year old son can't get enough of Richard Scarry. The Beat ABC Video Ever is his favorite. He loves the stories the children tell with each Alphabet and he has learned to sing along with the alphabet song. The animation is amateurish, but all in all is great! Watch out Teletubbies!

Summary: The best video we own
Review: My 2 year old daughter QUICKLY learned all of her ABCs after getting this video and still wants to watch it every day. She loves singing the alphabet song and is entranced by all of the stories.

I feel so good about letting her watch this video because it's obvious it's teaching her a great deal. She has started mimicking what the characters do with their letters, and I couldn't be happier that this is her favorite thing to watch.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent video
Review: My 2 year old loves this video. It is one of the best I have found to teach the ABCs. The numbers video is equally good. Pass up other videos for this one.
