Summary: You will love it!
Review: If you are a big fan of classical music or even if your not you will love Fantasia 2000! After watching Make Music Mine, Melody Time, and Fantasia I never thought that Disney would come out with any other classical forms of movies. After Walts death it just seemed like they had fallen into the fault of Disneys material. And it would too seem that even if Disney were to come out with another classical music movie...how could they ever beat the original Fantasia. Well once again Disney put their magic out their and have come out with a masterpiece that you will be talking about for years and years to come! Even your young children will be intrigued by the classical music and beautiful animation and funny characters. Unlike Fantasia where it was hosted by a composer,in Fantasia 2000 Disney adds the antics of Penn & Teller, Steve Martin, and a host of others! I never thought that I would ever want to hear pomp & circumstances again after going through graduation but as Disney adds a new twist to the Biblical story of Noah and the Ark with Donald and Daisy Duck and the music of pomp and circumstances you will fall in love with the somg again. If you are tired of hearing nothing but Brittney Spears and N*Sync played in your house this movie could make your children fall in love with not just modern music but also classical music and make music thiers!

Summary: Absolutely fabulous!!
Review: Unlike so many other recent Disney releases, Fantasia 2000 is worthy if the word "classic". Not only are original Fantasia animations in this collection, but new ones, as well. Each animation sequence is introduced by a different star including Steve Martin who is hilarious. Considering his love for true art, I think that speaks for itself.
Kids will love this collection for its fun and often silly cartoons, adults will love it for the beauty of the art involved in both the animation and the music.
A terrific collection I couldn't recommend more highly!

Summary: What happens when you give a yo-yo to a flock of flamingoes?
Review: This movie answers it! That "Carnival of the Animals" segment is the BEST one! Sure, it's a short piece of music, but so the heck what?! Blame the guy who wrote it! It's one everybody recognizes, and the colors used in that segment are incredibly bright and beautiful! So many shades of pink, yellow, orange...I love it! It's hilarious! The one annoying flamingo bothers the others incessantly when he discovers a yo-yo. It's great! So is the rest of the movie. OK, it's not quite the first one...that special something, that Disney touch isn't there...but it's still a dang good sequal, captivating, and gorgeous. Plus the intros to the pieces by Steve Martin, Bette Midler, Angela Lansbury, etc., add a funny tint to it. I watch this movie far more often than I ever expected to. It's great to see what the artists imagine when they hear this music. The first one, Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, is about the good little triangular butterflies battling the evil triangular butterflies. It's good, but definitely not the best part. 3/5 stars. Pines of Rome depicts a little whale flying into the clouds with its bigger buddies. It's pretty, but TOO LONG! It gets very boring at a certain point when you can only take so much of a bunch of flying whales! 2/5 stars. Rhapsody in Blue is a wonderful story colored in shades of blue and strating as one line on a paper that turns into a city. It's about a construction worker who wants to be a musician, a poor but kindly man who wants a job, a little girl who wants parents who don't care that she isn't good at any of the stuff they want her to do, and a guy who's married to a lady who cares nothing about him and everything about her pampered pooch. In the end, they all intervene in each other's lives, switch places, and get what they want. The poor guy REALLY makes you feel sorry for him...5/5 stars! The Steadfast Tin Soldier's piece is a great one because it tells the story sufficiently without being long and drawn-out like Pines of Rome. You know; the soldier goes through the sewer and gets eaten by a fish, who's caught and given to his house, where he meets his ballerina again and defeats the evil jack in the box. Only in the real story, I think he and the ballerina burn to death or something. But Disney always modifies the stories to make happy endings. Anyway, I like it. 4/5 stars. OK, I've already discussed Carnival of the Animals! 6/5 stars!! The Sorceror's Apprentice is here, of course, because it's everybody's favorite classic Fantasia tale. The brooms come to life and flood the place all because Mickey didn't want to do his job. Those brooms are pretty scary. 4/5 stars. Pomp and Circumstance is about Donald Duck as Noah and the ark. He thinks he's lost Daisy Duck at one point, but of course, he hasn't. Medium-length, pretty good. 3/5 stars. Firebird Suite tells of a green nature Sprite summoned by a lone elk, who saves a destructed forest after it is ravaged by an evil fire monster thing. My brother's in love with the beautiful little Sprite; I guess she's kinda pretty. And she sure made the mountains look nice. 4/5 stars. If you liked the first one you shouldn't be dissappointed by this. Highly recommended.

Summary: A work of art
Review: Disney really out-did themselves on this one. I'm not one for repeat viewings of movies, but I've made an exception for this one. I saw it 3 times in the IMAX theater when it first came out, and I've already watched the DVD several times. The musical selections represent an astounding mix of styles, and are superbly performed. They are outshone only by the animation, which displays incredible imagination, stunning technology and impeccable attention to detail. Even after many viewings, nothing is out-of-place. And what a way for kids to appreciate the world's great music! I was a little put off at first that some of the music has been rearranged a bit from the standard scores, I guess to tell a better animated story. This minor flaw is more than made up for, however.

Review: I hadn't watched the origonal for awhile before this, but after seeing "Fantasia 2000" I knew I still liked the original better, and apon watching the "making of Fantasia 2000" featurette on the DVD, I was outraged to learn that they deliberatly tampered with the music to acommedate the stories,and also that along with "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" they also originally planned to keep the "Nutcracker Suite" and "Dance of the hours" segmants from the original in the movie, but for some wierd reason, they were dropped. I will talk about the peices that have counterparts in the 1940 original and how they compare. the rest of the peices are what makes this film enjoyable. 1. beetoven's 5th symphony: the 1940 original gave us ALL of Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" wonderfully set to orchestra and with truly abstract images of violin bows and and strings moving in syndication with the music. Fantasia 2000 gives us three minutes of beetoven's 5th symphony, with a bunch of triangles battling each other. 2. Pines of rome: it could be loosely tied to beetoven's "Pastoral symphony" from the orgional, but the Pastoral symphoney gave us a roman mythology setting in a beautifully animated colorful country with centaurs, cupids, pegaseses, you name it. it obviously required a lot of research. but in Fantasia 2000, all we have is a bunch of flying whales! 3. saint sean's "carnival of the animals": obviously inspired by the "Dance of the Hours" segmant from the orgional, but TOO SHORT!!!!!!! 4. Elgar's "Pomp and circumstance": as quoted in the "making of Fantasia 2000" segmant: "forunately, there's more to it than what we've all heard before" this segment was actually pretty damn good. it was hilarious with a good Disney ending, and it was a suprise to hear differant parts of "The Graduation Song", and having Mickey Mouse send it off after congratulationg Leopold Stowkowski was a nice touch. seeing Mickey congratulate leopold again was a real treat. Finally, no. 5: Stravinsky's Firebird suite: the closing peice of Fantaisa 2000 can be compared with the closing "Night on Bald Mountain" and "Ave Maria" of the original. the artist wanted to have a finale that gave the same emotional impact as the original finale. well guess what? IT DIDN'T! watching the monster drivin back into hybernation and the congregation taking a peaceful forest walk at dawn always leaves me with a warm glow when I finish watching the orginal, but this dissapointing Firebird finale leaves with a fealing of "what was THAT?!!"

Review: Given the abundant good reviews about the movie, I'd just like to add a short comment about my favorite spots during the movie: -The "Pines or Rome" piece, with the whales is breathtaking. Yes, I admit I'm a lover of all sea-related things, so that could explain part of it. If the movie consisted of only this part, the only thing I could say about it would be: I want more!
-"Rhapsody in Blue" beautifully depicts a tale about dreams and how they come true. Enjoyed it a lot!
-Beethoven-driven opening and the closing animation of Stravinsky's "Firebird Suite" are also amazing.
Really, the only bad thing about the movie is the fact that it's made of segments, most of which are of incredible beauty, which keep leaving you wanting more.

Review: Not bad, but not as good as the first Fantasia. The length of each segment is shortened to the point of hurting the structure of the piece. Shortening music to accomidate the precieved shorter attention span society lessoned the quality. Deffinately a getter, but I would rather have the symphonic work in full and not the bare bones, as I would rather have the roasted whole chicken and not just the bones (I think I'm hungry:).

Summary: Great Movie, but too Short
Review: My family went to see it at the IMAX production and it was a great experience! My favorite was the Pines of Rome with the triumphant ending of flying whales, but Rhapsody in Blue (nice recreation of New York) and the Firebird (intense moments with the Firebird chasing the Fairy) come in close 2nd and 3rd. We bought it soon after it came out. I didn't give it 5 stars because it was only a short 1 hour and 14 minutes, whereas the original Fantasia was a long 2 hours. Also some scenes (such as the Firebird and a few moments in the Steadfast Tin Soldier) were pretty scary for kids 5 and younger. All in all, it was one of Disney's better efforts, despite the shortness of it.

Summary: Fantasia 2000, A Trip through the Future and the Past!!!
Review: A combination of music and animation makes up one of Disney's latest movies of all time, Fantasia 2000. With a wide variety of music this makes for a treat for a person of any age or background. You start with "Symphony No.5" one of the best selections of music in the whole movie. The picture creates a Picasso type setting and as they fly and flutter, the music takes you on a journey though time unknown. Then though "Pines of Rome" a quieter setting evolves. Computer takes this animations to the next level. "Rhapsody in Blue" one of my favorite songs ever. A story unravels itself as this song progresses. You can feel the storyline pull together, it almost takes your heart away. How sad can they get. Mystery takes place next in "Piano Concerto No.2 Allegro, Opus 102". Rain comes down and thunder strikes, will the good ever win??? In this you shall never know. "Carnival of Animals", ahhh what a perker. Yo-yo's flying, it just can't get any funnier, wait, flamingos!! Out with the new and in with the old," The Sorcerer's Apprentice" comes to life. Just the good old times. "Pomp and Circumstance- Marches 1,2,3,And 4". Are we graduating??? No, but Noah's Ark evolves, in a different pair of shoes, and it's not Noahs. And the ending "Firebird Suite- 1919 Version". A tale of good and bad around the forest. Can it get any better??? Not now that's for sure. A great selection of music and animations makes this movie one of the best I've ever seen. if you haven't seen it, hurry up, rent it today.
