Rating: Summary: Hillarious! Review: These videos are great fun for adults and kids alike. If you have a good sense for silly and ridiculous situations, Wallace & Gromit are a must. For video artists, the clay-mation is also very well done. I thoroughly enjoy watching all of them.
Rating: Summary: great for whole family Review: My two year old is addicted to Wallace and Gromit, but I really don't mind beacause all of the films are entertaining for adults as well as kids. The humor is great, very sophisticated and physical. My favorite is Close Shave, followed closely by Wrong Trousers. Please make more Nick!
Rating: Summary: Animation at its finest Review: From "Creature Comforts" through "A Close Shave" (and, we may hope, through his upcoming "Chicken Run"), Nick Park's work is marked by an unmatched sense of visual whimsy. Beyond the delightful characters and plots, beyond the brilliant claymation, what makes the Wallace & Gromit films a joy to behold is a richness of detail I've seen only in the greatest animation. My personal favorite: "The Wrong Trousers", with a train chase that stands with the best of Hitchcock.
Rating: Summary: All I can say is ...... Review: I only wish they would make more ! They are fun to watc
Rating: Summary: Beyond Gumby Review: WRONG TROUSERS has to be one of the most amazingly brilliant claymation films ever. Correct that--one of the best short films ever period. Watch it numerous times to get all the jokes. Check out the paper headlines, or displays in the museum--classic inside jokes within the flick. The whole thing works so well esp. when you add that understated Bristolian accent of Wallace (who has being the only speaking part). Classic British humour that translates into any culture. END
Rating: Summary: The Wallace & Gromit Trilogy are the best movies ever! Review: These three movies are the best you will ever see. They are about a dog (Gromit), and his owner (Wallace). They are clay-animated, and are about their adventures in life. The Wrong Trousers, one of the movies, is about a penguin who rents a room in their house. Can they trust this mysterious paying guest? When he wakes up, is new invention puts him in his new gift to Gromit called Techno-Trousers. But now they have a mind of thier own! There are 2 more great adventures just waiting to be seen. Have fun! END
Rating: Summary: No Cheese, Gromit. Review: The WALLACE & GROMIT shorts have accomplished something very few other franchises can claim. They are as popular with cult-clasping-college students as they are with kindergarten children. For the First episode creator Nick Park needed an excuse to get a man and his dog to the moon... A GRAND DAY OUT was the result. The episode is quaint and filled with great character and humor. The second, and greatest to date, THE WRONG TROUSERS introduces an evil penguin to the mix. Thats right, an evil penguin. The last episode, A CLOSE SHAVE, is an awesome sequel but suffers from the same thing that haunts many live action sequels. It is given a bigger budget and more time is spent on the mechanics of the story than the human side. All three are laugh-out-loud. And coming in short of 30 minutes, they can easily be taken in in one sitting and you won't feel guilty for not getting your bank book balanced. This is the most recent DVD release and includes interesting making of material, commentary by creator Nick Park, and even 4 early animations. Great for the entire family...
Rating: Summary: ARE THERE MORE WALLACE & GROMIT OUT THERE ? Review: We have purchased all the Nick Park/Aardman/Wallace & Gromit DVDs we can find on Amazon. Are there more out there? It seems to me from watching PBS, etc. that there might be. It may take a certain mindset to really appreciate this animation, but we'll take all we can get!
Rating: Summary: The worst animation on Earth Review: If you can stomach "Wallace and Gromit",I admire you. This is the absolute WORST animation on Earth!I felt like I was punishing myself by watching this horrible DVD.The stories had no plots-they were just a bunch of adlibbed scenes slapped together in hopes of making a plot. The animation itself is sloppy, choppy and cheapThis is NOT worth your time-if you want a good cartoon-get "Tom & Jerry" or "Popeye" instead.
Rating: Summary: The perfect DVD for the whole family! Review: There's a reason why Nick Park won Oscars for both THE WRONG TROUSERS and A CLOSE SHAVE. (His first Wallace & Gromit short, A GRAND DAY OUT, was also nominated but lost -- to another animated feature by Nick Parks!) The thrills and laughs are universal. Kids of all ages will naturally love them. But so will the adults! Like Bullwinkle & Rocky and Warner Bros. cartoons, there's a lot of humor aimed for the adults. No, nothing dirty -- geez, get your head out of the gutter -- but fun sly references to Alfred Hitchcock, Buster Keaton, David Lean, and James Cameron films, as well as poking fun at art history and science. Multiple viewings always reveal more of the incredible details found in these shorts. (I still laugh out loud at the painting Wallace has above his mantle where he hides his savings.) You'll also marvel at how they're made. Everyone knows that stop-motion requires you to make your characters move very slightly, then film it, then move it a little more and so on. After a while watching these shorts, you start to take it for granted. The behind-the-scenes feature on the DVD reveals some of the skill needed to create WALLACE & GROMIT shorts. But take heed -- your kids will also enjoy it and will probably implore you to buy them some clay and a video camera!
